Thanks Kyle! Yeah for sure it is.The 200x4 boss amp then the 340x6 zed amp. The zed amp blew off one of the center cone thingy and rip the surround on another. But both most likely my fault lol. Hell, they kept playing and I didn't noticed till I replaced them. The Boss and Zed don't put out that power at 4 ohms. Swift that box looks badass, I think we have a new box builder on the site. You wanna build me one next? Thanks man, I appreciate the compliments. I stay so busy with my business that its hard to find a good time for builds, sometimes I work 12 hour days, 6am to 6pm then come home and work on a build till midnight. But when your ready let me know and we'll see whats going on. I have to spread them out, ya know. lol I didnt even really see my wife and kids this weekend, but his box is done and it turned out great so I hope he enjoy's it.

throw your opionon in!
Buy another BL, if you have 3k you have the power. Wall it..... That's always the best answer

You may need more electrical, but not more power. Don't confuse what it can take with what it needs. I look forward to hearing, especially in a few weeks when it gets good and broke in.

new mids/highs choices
They ain't bad, you would be very happy with the Type R coaxials. I am pretty picky and they impressed me a lot. My truck had 4 4x6's in it when I bought it, sounded great and loud

- 2 18"s or 4 15"s ??
It depends on if you want to compete and stay in a certain class. Cone area can sometimes be good or bad. 2 Zcon's may meter higher if done right and 4 Icons would be nasty as well and be a great ground pounder. Sounds like a good plan either way. I would probably go 4 15's because down the road if you upgrade to 4 Zcons or Evils it will become just that much more painfull.- Ported or sealed for 2 Q12s
Oops I apologize Swift, must have missed that the first time going down the thread. Thank you for the dimensions and would having two face boards make much of a difference? or just sturdy up the box? and would they handle 4800 watts in the future (getting cooling, P Chamfer, high QTS) in this sealed box? Also, is there any other options that would be strongly recommended? will be ordering the subs tonight. The stronger the box the better, I would do a double baffle even if it was to flush mount the subs. If you do not double baffle then at least do a window brace in the middle so all 4 sides (top bottom front back) are braced. Even though its just a sealed box, the stronger the better. No matter what options you choose I would not throw 4800 watts to those subs! The will do just fine on 3000-3500 watts total. And I would get them fully loaded with all options available just because.- Ported or sealed for 2 Q12s
- Ported or sealed for 2 Q12s
I gave you the exact measurements and what space it would give for the sealed box above. Fire the subs to the rear in whichever you decide. You have the height to do that.- Ported or sealed for 2 Q12s
I have doubts your current "prefab box" has correct port area and the also placement is not good for a trunk setup. I have no idea how a well built sealed box compared to your current box will sound. But I know that a well built ported box with correct port area and sub placement would be no comparison in loudness, sound quality is a personal preference. I know guys that swear by sealed until they hear a good ported setup and they never go back. The high or low QTS option on the subs and the space you will allow to be used should be taken into heavy consideration. Seems you need to think about it more, your "Max dimensions" dont seem to be max at all since your current box is way bigger, lol.- Ported or sealed for 2 Q12s
You dont have enough space to do ported unless you go bigger. With those measurements if you use Q 12's then order high QTS and do the box sealed 14.5 high 30in wide 16.5 deep (Outside dimensions with a double baffle if you want, Brace top to bottom in the center) Not sure why you only have 17in depth? This gives you 3cu ft internally. Fire the subs to the rear. If I was building a ported box for 2 Q 12's I would shoot for 5cu net. NO way your current ported box has 4cu ft plus port unless its way bigger than your measurements- Problem with C1100.4 highpitched noise.

I started to make bars for my die hards and said fuck it, and ran jumpers. I have 2 aluminum bars siting in garage. I bought 1/2 in bars and couldn't get threads to catch, oh well. Looks good- sundown lincoln
i dont follow your logic. your saying that my box ( a jack hammer) is the best place for an amp. im going to try something else, it sould work much better.. . maybe some VLM would help under the mounting surface. I'm not saying your box is built wrong because I don't know. But if you make the top as strong as the front baffle that would be the best place for an amp. Well you can't with nothing hooked up right now but you should try a water bottle test sometime. I can bounce a half full water bottle off a dumpster from 30 ft away, and at the same time I can carry that same water bottle over and put up against my baffle while full tilt and there is hardly a ripple. If the top of that box is as strong as the baffle you won't find a better place to mount it. I will stand behind that, don't believe me. Grab a half bottle of water and start placing it around till you find the best place. If its Not your box, rebuild.- Celebrating #20yrs!!!!
That's just awesome Chop, I wish the best for you and your wife on your get away. Those don't come along very often. Congrats!!- sundown lincoln
I would add another layer of wood on top of the box and try again. The box honestly should be the strongest and most stable place in that car. I don't see you finding a more stable place unless you have room for a cushion surface. If you mount the amp on a board first, then mount that board on top of a think piece of foam that may work if you have the space.- Finally!
