  1. How would I go about plugging a different source into it. and how would I check the RCAs and how do I tell the two ends from each other.
  2. So basically I let a friend borrow my car and while he was using it he messed up the trunk latch and when he couldn't fix it he tied an extension cord around my subwoofer and box and held the trunk down with it. When he drove it back to me he played the music all the way up and when I got it back my subwoofer wouldn't play. I figured it was the woofer being held back while trying to play but then I tried another sub on it and it still wouldn't play so I tried another sub and again it didn't play. What could it be causing my issues. What could I do to diagnose my issue. The light on the amp goes on and it looks like everything is working. any help would be awesome. Thanks.
  3. Actually you can put it on an iPhone 3g aswell just not the 3gs. the guides for the 3g should be out by now. and yes android is a great operating system but it needs to be customized to a certain degree in order to bring out its potential where as the iPhone OS is barely customizable and therefor its at its full potential minus apps and such. plus the new OS will mend some of the problems the original did i.e. multitasking. im not saying the iPhone is better but i think for someone who is clearly not inparticualarly tech savy the iPhone is a better choice,
  4. As far as operating systems go in todays market android and the iPhone OS are the best for someone not using it strictly for business. Android is much younger but it is still very good, some would say better than the iPhone OS, plus some companies like HTC have put a "skin" on the UI that makes it very smooth and easy to use. If you are a mac user and you have a large itunes library the iPhone will be a good choice because the whole syncing system is nearly flawless. Apple is expected to launch the new iPhone on june 7th and its been leaked enough to show that it is quite the beautiful device http://www.iphoneworld.ca/wp-content/uploads/2010/04/iphone-4g-photo.jpg those are leaked photos of it. for att i personally would go iPhone because their android lineup is not exactly flourishing but if you can find one that suits your taste go for it. The other thing about android is that its a tech nerds dream but is not quite as intuitive and user friendly as an iPhone. Because you are new to the smartphone game I would definitely go iPhone just because no matter what people say it is a great device and its insanely easy to sync and use, if u can sync an iPod you can sync an iPhone. P.S. if it is a genuine smartphone then it will have a GPS system.

What if I changed the amp to this one Xa175.2 - Cadence 2 Channel 175 Watt Class AB Stereo Amplifier just because it would save some money. Would it really change the performance that much compared to the sundown?

The title yes but the section this is posted in is the right spot unless there is a specific section for entire setups then I'm pretty sure im in the right spot. on another note i think im satisfied with the outcome of this thread thanks to all who answered me.

Isn't that kind of the purpose of equalization though? I was under the impression that the eq was used in order to make the music render as it was recorded/naturally.

No its a 6 1/2" and if by the corner piece you are referring to the place in the corner of the window ill look into it but from what I could see it looks pretty shallow but I could be mistaken. once I figure out how to get that piece off I will and see how it looks in there. On another note does anyone have experience with the imprint stuff? It seems like a super cool idea and I've heard some good reviews of it. I basically just want to know about ease of use/installation and also how much of an effect it has on the sound of your system.

Sorry for the double post but here is a photo of the spot that I think might work its just the original pick of the door with an arrow showing exactly where it is.

Yes there is one its in the lower right hand corner of the door in that photo. I wasn't planning on doing anything to the doors just taking the interior peice off and installing the new speakers then puting it back on. If worst comes to worst and the speaker is too deep or somethin I'll make a baffel and cut a hole in the door for it to poke out of. The spot on the door that looks like it should house a tweeter is extremely narrow, I mean theres about 3/4 of an inch behind there to mount the tweeter and I haven't looked much at the one in the dash but even if it fit it points almost directly up. I think I could mount the tweeter in there and angle it mor towards me but it still wouldnt be ideal. another spot i saw that I could actually cut out to produce the proper fit is it the door right above the driver but facing up I'll try to post a picture of what I'm talking about. are there tweeter aiming brackets that would help me to angle those at an appropriate angle?

So I am going to do a new audio install on a '00 mercedes e320 and I'd like to run it by this crew to see if anyone has any suggestions. I am not very experienced at car audio but i am convinced that with a set of Crutchfeild mastersheet instructions and the help from a friend who has done several installs i can do it. So heres the setup. Head Unit: Alpine iDA x305s with the PXA h100 imprint processor along with the KTX h100 to get it set up (this is extremely intriguing to me and I want to try it any opinions on wether I should get it or not?) Component Speakers (front only): Image Dynamics CTX 65cs Speaker amp: Sundown Audio SAX 125.2 Subwoofer: 15" Fi BL (still looking at box design) Subwoofer amp: Sundown audio SAZ 1000d My trunk and doors will be deadened and I'll get all the wiring and what not. My only major worry is about tweeter location. The car does not come stock with tweeters so there is not a tweeter mounting position. There is a grill where the tweeter should be but I don't know if I can use it to mount the tweeter anybody have this car that can recommend any good mounting positions or anyone who has any generally good mounting positions.
