  1. SO we got one vote for the 9835 One vote for the CD7000 and three voted for a 9813/15 I was trying to remember the model number of the 9813/15 last night as well. If the ipod thing with the Alpine is too much trouble I will get one of the Harmon Kardon Drive and Plays for it. Off to ebay I go looking for a 9813/15
  2. I am trying to pick a headunit out. I thought I had it figured out and then decided I was definatley going active. My problem is that I need a HU that will allow me to go active but still play MP3 discs as well as have somewhat decent ipod control. So ive got four picked out price really isnt the factor although $450 is my budget and I am not against buying used. Alpine CDA-9835 (hard to find and are somewhat expensive when found) Alpine CDA-9855 (I can deal with glide touch if need be. its not THAT bad) Pioneer 880-PRS (Easy to find and moderatly priced, some complaints of "snakes in the unit") Eclipse CD7000 (Easy to find but on the higher end of my budget) There are a chit ton of the 9855's on ebay and I am seeing they are all going for under $200. This is my cheapest option by far. Only trouble is finding the older Alpine ipod cable as I dont think their new full speed cable is compatible. The 9835 like stated above is kinda hard to find and can get truly expensive when in a bidding war for it. The 880 has good features and I used to Pioneer's ipod interface. the CD7000 is an awesome unit but I dont want to spend that much unless someone can tell my it is truly worth the Extra $150 as opposed to the 880 which has VERY similar features. Only good thing about the CD7000 is that it will definatly match my interior dash lights....the 880's trim (chrome) would match my entire dash though.
  3. Either one would suit you well I think. If the price difference isnt much, flip a coin. they are both stout amps with a great reputation. You could also look into four of the SoundStream PCA-2000D's or the Orion 2500D's.
  4. Taking money orders for the shirts?
  5. Where are you buying your kineitk's?? http://cgi.ebay.com/KINETIK-CAR-BATTERY-PO...1QQcmdZViewItem
  6. I think the big jump in points is what caused the larger part of the uproar. The sheer logistics of the event is insane. and I feel really bad for the street guys having to go against panda's for Finals. I agree that DB Drag has to change in order for the sport to evolve and succeed. I think this change was too drastic, too soon. Some of these Florida boys were born with the ability to get loud....
  7. Basically the 4 12" X's will cost around the same as 2 15" SSD's. I havent done the exact math but best guess puts either option within $50 of each other. The SSD's with an option or two and a single Kicker 2500 sounds kinda sexy to me now that I think about it. Will the SSD's handle 1250 a piece with the options available? (including the newest options?) I wont get you started on the DB Drag thing...I just read all eight pages of the thread on termpro and after seeing how some of those people broke it down I am on the fence but falling to your side......initially I was all gung ho for it, now I am not so sure.
  8. Shawn is selling three 12" X's first and foremost Scott....DO you have the parts to build me a fourth one in a Dual 4ohm config? I know at one point you said the parts were going to be rolled into AA and if I cant get a fourth then my plans will change. If by chance you have a fourth how much space do these subs require ported? how small of a box I could get away with? I also am willing to use aero ports if that will cut down on size any. Will I see better bass race results with four 12" X's as opposed to two 12" SSD's running off the same 1500 watt amp? Amp will be determined once I choose the subs but I am looking at the Kicker ZX series. I was going to go with the Q's but with the recent change to World Finals for DB Drag and one of the hubs for finals being my hometown I am ready to start a build for bass race and start getting some points.
  9. DO it without a sponsor first you dont necessarily need to place in the top three at every event (although it helps) but make sure you go to as many as humanly possible. The further you are willing to drive the more a sponsor will want to look at you. They are relying on you to get their name out. If you are only going to a few local shows what good is that for them?
  10. is that in a Speed3?
  11. Nope....If I werent newly single then most likely Yes. The ordering starts next week. I have to get the mids and tweets in so I can start my door pods. On another note, I got in the trunk today and took some measurements with the trunk closed and I am not going to be able to do an 18" sub the way I want to due to there not being 18" of height. What does everyone think about the 15" RLP-s or the 15" Q's? from what I have read I cant go wrong with either but any opinions are welcome.
  12. If I am not mistaken that isw Shawn Flemings van. I have a few videos of a little yellow canyon with some BTL's getting down at SBN.
  13. So I am once again a free man and its time to get back to what I enjoy. I want to outline everything I will be getting and see if anyone has objections before I proceed with purchases! My main concern is the front stage and how well the mid/tweet combo ive picked out will mesh together. I will be purchasing and installing in stages so that is how I will list my ideas. So lets start where I am going to start in the build process.... STAGE 1: 100sqft of Raamaat BXT Full wiring from Knukonceptz Begin door pods for 7" Mid STAGE 2: Metra Dash kit for my car Eclipse CD 7000 STAGE 3: Seas CA18-RNX Seas 27TFFN Sound Stream PCA4.520 The mid will be mounted in the door down low in door pods that will be constructed in step 1 of my build the tweet will be placed in the sail panel of my 2003 Mazda 6. STAGE 4: 18" Fi Q - Ported Sound Stream PCA-1000D --------------------------------------------------------------------------------------- Any and all input will be considered. Thanks in advance for all of your help! Mike
  14. I will never understand why some competitors feel that way....it definatley boggles my mind.
  15. Mike Troll replied to shooter69's topic in Fi Products
What are your available dimensions for a realistic box that wouldent need to be built in the trunk?
  16. The JBL 1201.1 is a good match for the Q! Welcome over here Jarvis!
  17. I lol'd!! I think the "lets see how many mids/tweets we can put in here" thing is getting old. I see it more and more everyday around Orlando.
  18. Mike Troll replied to mkylexl's topic in General Fi
I have a few more vids but these are all of Tony E's truck (I know his last name but wont butcher the spelling.) Two 15" Fi BTL's powered by a pair of AB VFL 150.1's
  19. Mike Troll replied to mkylexl's topic in General Fi
I got some vids I will upload of a few people runninf Fi. I left before the 150-159.9 eliminations but I am pretty sure that Shawn drew Tommy in the first round of eliminations.
  20. I should be getting mine in the next day or so. I am going to SBN tomorrow and I would like to wear it to SBN.
  21. I just read the rules, and there is no "requirement" for a crossover. the people that lost points probably did not have easy access to it or the installation was very poor so they lost points. Good to know! I guess I will find a HU with the better processing and skip the external crossover/eq
  22. My true plans are being able to keep my trunk for luggage and groceries and things like that and competing for the hell of it every now and then. I have no real expectations of becoming a full time competitor purely because when it comes to SQ there arent a whole lot of events close to me. and I am sure it will be like DB Drag with very little return on investment. But I would still like to follow the rules when building so if I do compete I dont lose points.
  23. PPI-DCX730 Not sure if it does all that you need but it is loved by lots on diyma
  24. Its not necessarily cosmetic for me so much as it is saving space and wanting to compete. But you are definately right it is a bit backwards False floor with the subs firing up or angled towards the trunk sounds promising....
  25. My thing is that I kind of need my trunk....I read the Usaci rules and although the alram question was answered I was looking more at whether I need a fancy alarm to show off or if basic will get me all the points for that category. The crossover question wasnt answered in the detail I was looking for I guess. Ive heard of people loosing points for not having a crossover.
