custom vs prefab
i have a 2000 ford taurus (so a pretty big trunk) with second skin damplifier pro over probably 2/3 of it (20 sq ft wasnt near enough) and i listen to a lot of rap. also i never damplified my rear deck or the part of the trunk lid w/ the license plates and lights and stuff. think that'd make a noticable diff?

is 32/33 better for those subs? will it be louder or feel stronger?

I have two kicker cvx 12" 2006 model subs in a prefab ported box that i believe is 1.25 cubes per chamber (not sure if that is net or total) and i was just wondering what differences i will see, and how significant they are, if i switch to a either 4.5 or 5.5 cubes net custom box with a single port tuned to 35 hz.

i felt like a dumbass, so i edited :/

how much battery do i need for a 1500w rms amp? what about if i bridged two amps so 3000w rms? will one kinetic hc2400 cut it?

car for subs
yeah i already put a smaller battery back there, i probably need another one

what do you mean wall off the ski pass? i have the seats down, it would be great if the deck could be taken out, but it cant..

car for subs
i have a 2000 ford taurus with a 1500w rms powerbass amp and two 12" kicker cvx's. does anyone have any experience with the taurus for bass? basically i am wondering how involved it would be to upgrade the + wire from my 130 amp alternator (my lights dim and voltage drops), and how well the car handles bass. i am trying to decide whether or not to dynamat extreme the trunk.

What dose kicker and bad ass have to do with it. ...yeah seriously...?

lol i know. i just got 2 kicker cvx 12's with a ported box for $300. those will out bump type r's any day

well the cone area is the same but the 10s can take more power...

if i stuck with type r's which would be louder, 2 12" current gen for 1200w rms or 3 10" last gen for 1500w rms?

You should really stop going mainstream, there are tons of companies (on this forum also) that sell great products for less then what you can get mainstream woofers for. The SSD's will blow away the type R's and so will SSA Icons for a similar price. yeah i know. if i were to stay with type r's which would be louder, 2 of the new 12" ones for a rms rating of 1200w or 3 1042 10" woofers for an rms of 1500w

i guess i could try...do you mean like jacking it up?

i tried...one audio shop said it wouldn't touch it and another said it could be an all-day project and couldn't give me a quote on it. What kind of car? sorry if you already said it. it's a 2000 ford taurus with a 130 amp alternator, but the alternator is buried under the engine and barely visible

yeah, i was considering ssd's and btl...but i dont think my car could handle the current draw to really get those going without upgrading the big 3, which is difficult in my case. and if i was going fi i would go all out. how much of a difference do the new type r 12's make over the old type r 10's?

yeah but type r's are cheaper...idk

yeah i am, but the subs are 144 each, so i thought that was a great deal

i just want louder. i have a battery in the back and 4 gauge wire. i upgraded the ground under the hood but my car had the alternator hidden under the engine so upgrading the rest would be quite tricky. You probably won't gain much adding more power, Type R's can only take so much. Maybe sell them and get bigger woofers? well i would be going from 10" 1042's rated at 500rms to 12" 1243's or 1223's rated at 600rms, in a better box, so i should be close to double what i have now Huh? O_o lol sorry if that was unclear. i currently have 2 10" last generation alpine type r subwoofers in a crappy prefab box running at 1 ohm off of a powerbass asa 1500.1dx. i am upgrading to 2 12" current generation alpine type r subs. the current generation ones are rated at 100 more watts rms and claim to have over 20% more motor force than the previous generation, as well as a little more x-max. i was just thinking that that would be pretty close to double the spl that i currently have.

i'm not worried about the power...will the RF sound much better on 2 type r 12" 1243 or 1223s? No, it will not sound better or worse for that matter. Buy what fits your budget and has the features you need. well then what are the real-world advantages to buying a t1500-1bdcp over keeping my current powerbass asa1500.1dx? (sorry i know that probably sounds like a stupid question) The brand names. There's definitely no $300ish worthy advantages. (if that makes any sense) so all i am paying for is the extra research and developement, as well as the costs to operate the larger factories, not the quality? how much power could safely be given to the new type r 12" woofers? should i keep my powerbass asa1500.1dx (which i assume puts out a little less than rated, correct me if i am wrong), or upgrade to an audioque and run it at either 2 ohms or with the gain down?
