Contacting fi
I know it seems nagging but has anyone gotten ahold of Fi the past week? I don't even get automated replies.

company terminology
I'm not hating on them as a company, I just woulda liked a heads up, instead of just getting a time frame that they knew couldn't be kept. Or Atleast an answer to one of my four emails.

Help/ Advice sub suddenly crapped out
yeah but even low power with a lot of distortion is bad on a sub. OP if your gain was set to high and you clipped it, then the amp was set to high. turning up your volume shouldnt result in your sub screwing up unless the the amp is set to high or has way high distortion.

so I have every right to be angry when I have no recone and no response to my emails?

company terminology
I know this will sound newbish but what does a company mean by lead time? I was told 12-15 days lead time on my recone from FI and excluding weekends its been 18 days and still no word on it.

Average time for recone?

4th order bandpass
The box I said I wanted to build was done so by what I thought necessary not the ratio. I didn't know about the 2:1 until after I had designed it by what the sub called for in size and frequency. I didn't know if there was a lot more to it than a normal ported box. The design I had figured up just happened to come close to the ratio which I was told about by someone I know that built one.

And what needs taken into account. I can't do anything without knowing how to do it or where to start. That's why I asked the question.

Aeroport first time
I just figured they took in account the flare which is why its an inch longer... either way... lol

Aeroport first time
More ports you're gonna have to go longer to hit the tunic you want. 20 wouldn't surprise me.

Aeroport first time
It says 11" for flare and 10" for straight. The 11" is that flares included?

SA-8 coil gets hot fast
have you checked your ohms with both subs hooked up? its possible to have a d2 and d4. which means one would see a lot more power than the other.

Aeroport first time
I'm looking into aero porting my box for my 15 so I can save room instead of building the box around the port. According to the Torres Box Calc 20x20x20 gives me a gross of 3.66ft3. .2ft3 sub displacement, double baffle, .01ft3 bracing (estimated) and a single 6" aero from psp, puts me at almost exactly 3 cubes at 38hz. The sub is an AA Havoc 15 on a MB Quart discus 1500.1. So now my question is, I know 12-16in2 generic rule, but the calc says my suggested port area is 28-40in2, and the 6in give me 28.26in2. Is that enough port area using an aero? its only 9.14in2 per foot. sub would face back and the port up, or sub up port back either way. I'm trying to stay within 35-38hz tuning so I can still get lows but be able to compete.

4th order bandpass
a normal ported enclosure unloads to easily, and practically free airs. that is why I wanted to try 4th order. can you give me anything I need to look at in order to build one?
-
4th order bandpass
This isn't a prefab box, its one I'm looking at building. 2:1 ratio (almost) with a higher frequency for spl.
-
4th order bandpass
I don't quite follow? Generic? And must be set up for the driver? I went by sub specs for each side, as well as enough port area and the right frequency tuning

Help/ Advice sub suddenly crapped out
your h/u volume only clips if you have your gain set to high. As its been preached MANY times the gain isn't a volume control. There is only one place it should be set of lower. anything higher and you will clip the sub to no end. I can go to 57 out of 62 before I get distortion out of a pioneer and I've seen alpine run 33 out of 35 before distortion. Gain should always be matched to signal voltage not turned up and down as you please, and going by ear isn't always the best. As for amp bass boost... that will kill a sub faster than anything, especially if it is clipping with bass boost.

how did you get a 12-15k reading?are you on 20ohm setting on the DMM? if you are reading high and the other isnt reading you probably blew a voice coil. Make sure its unhooked from the amp... check directly at the sub.no wires.

4th order bandpass
So, my daughters MECA Power Wheel got a broken port... So I decided to rebuild... The small sealed enclosure was practically free airing so I was looking at making a loading wall, but I don't know how to tune for just a loading wall which got confusing because it started coming out at a 6th order... So I started looking into 4th order, sealed one half, ported other. plenty of loading surface, as well as the output for the port to under the dash for the kick score. I have it as .35ft^3 sealed side (its a single 8 sealed enclosure is .25-.5ft^3) and ported side .68ft^3 with 2 2" aeros 10" long at 45hz. still fits on the back of the power wheels, and tuning a little higher for better spl with full response. Does that sound right?
