i would go with the icons, they arent really a sub you can classify into one category (i.e. SPL or SQ) its a daily driver that has exceptional sound quality (as do all the SSA lines) while still able to get extremely loud. I tend to think of the Icon as a merger of loudness and SQ.

Heres the retail value of everything: MTX TE4001D $1,999 SSA XCON 18" $399 Pioneer AVIC-F90BT (Pioneer says $1300 but its discontinued and can be found for around $800) Add another couple hundred for power, ground, RCA, fuses, and speaker wire Add a hundred for box materials (carpet, screws, glue, wood) Kinetik 1400s are $200 each i think hope that helps

i can play all day, alts are over-rated IMO, never used em and never needed em, i might get one but we'll see I wish i could get some rims too, but just dont have the cash

i can tell a difference between a 1hz change in sound, but as far as a box goes, if you were to put two boxes in the same situation tuned to a difference of 1hz, probably could tell something was different but wouldnt be sure what it was, dont worry about whether 33hz or 32hz etc. just stay within a 3-5hz bracket for ground pounding if this is all out spl then yes it will make a very big difference but if not dont worry about it

Thanks everyone, this setup was worth every bit of sweat (and blood!). These subs sound so great they still amaze me. On the 23 hr drive back home, i listened to damn near every song on my iPod, threw everything at them, country, rock, metal, rap, you name it and they sounded great on em all!

Not to bash on SSkin but why would you put 4 layers? Isn't that stuff good enough with 1 or 2? you are completely right, 2 would have been plenty, but there are 2 reasons for putting 4 layers in some places: 1) the places that got 4 were for the roof that had no structural support, so the SS helped stiffen it 2) why not? lol i got like 240 sq. ft. of the stuff mght as well use it!
