Welcome to the IHoP
I've never been much of a coffee aficionado. Not that it's bad, but I'm mostly a tea drinker. I wouldn't mind getting into coffee more intimately but I find it hard on my stomach...rough coffee shits are not fun.

Now that was a good comparison.

Welcome to the IHoP
Not fully settled, too much travel. I have lived here since Dec 7th but only slept here 15 times or so. I need to place an order for more remote lights and a few other things, but getting close. At least I am moved into the garage! Good to as I had to whack out a few enclosures to test the IXL in. Yikes. On the positive side, you can't have too many dull moments, I imagine.

Welcome to the IHoP
I have a Computer Science lab at 830 AM, but I am good with C++ and thus usually done the lab in the first 15-20 minutes. My next class is English at 1230 PM, and there's not much to do on campus in between. I'm done that at 1320 PM for the day and have a few hours to kill till it's time to go out later this evening. Pretty much every Friday is like that.

Someone once tried to tell me that Randy Rhodes was in The Scorpions. Yeah, because an all German hair metal band is likely to have Randy Rhodes in it.

Welcome to the IHoP
Here I am. Not another Scorpions song.

Welcome to the IHoP
Hop on Fridays always sucks. It's when I have the least to do but no one is ever here. Although I always wanted my own playground.

Hi, I'm Blake from eCrack.net
I think we busted his balls too hard and I regret that maybe I started that trend. At the same time, Blake doesn't have to be quite so defensive....just read the comments for what they are and move on. Regardless, our lives will go on and this thread won't matter. For both sides, sometimes leaving people to their own devices is better than trying to sway them one way or the other, particularly when the precedent is not a positive one. Like I said, Blake: email me anytime. Despite the start here, hang out a bit and enjoy the forum...everyone can be very friendly and there is something here for everyone. Cooler heads will prevail and then we can all share in a common interest.

Welcome to the IHoP
I just had to walk out of a Calc class because of something someone was wearing...I have allergies but they're usually no big deal....today was bad. I sneezed 4 times in a row and kept sneezing on my way out the door...maybe 15-20 times before I got it to stop. Then it was intermittent for a few minutes. So I blow my nose, compose myself, and head back to class. Two minutes later...same deal. I feel like garbage now.

From: Attention NOOBS!!!!
Can we put a disclaimer in there that says "Please don't use the terms SQ or SPL unless you are intending to use those products for competition. And SQL is non-existent." Or something to that effect. I'm thinking two birds, one stone. Very well done, Scott.

How did you enjoy the Stella Artois? I know it's not for everyone but I have a fridge packed full of them at the moment. Pics of her in top, asap. Not in a weird creepy way, though.

Hi, I'm Blake from eCrack.net
Ugh, Nick. I didn't say that an anechoic chamber is analog to listening in a vehicle. But that doesn't make the results of the driver in an anechoic chamber less valid...that is still "real world". What you are suggesting is that, as an engineer, you should not try to understand the relation between objective analysis and subjective opinion, and then design based on that. You should build prototypes until you like the sound of it...but since everyone hears different (which is maybe a bit vague and arguable) how would you know you have a good prototype in the first place? I'm not saying every present metric for speaker measurement is accurate. THD itself is a dumb metric...it's been shown that some listeners can hear the difference between 1% and 2% THD in an amplifier but can't hear the difference between 10% and 35% THD in a speaker...so the metric itself holds no validity; and this is excluding the lack of proper weighting based on our interpretation of distortion. But a random thought...I'm not sure if you've listened to the Excel series drivers from Seas before. They sound excellent. AND they measure very well. Nice linear and symmetrical inductance and BL. Same with the Revelators. There is already a fairly strong correlation between what we are able to measure and what we audibly interpret...and the correlation grows stronger with more and more research. The gap exists in some people's understanding of what the measurements represent and how they relate to listening in a different environment. This is a science vs. religion argument. It is fine if you prefer a different method of evaluating speakers...but that doesn't mean other methods are less valid or should just be ignored when it has strong supporting evidence. edit: You mention that a speaker installed will sound different if using different HU's, etc. Again, this is not the speaker that has changed! It is everything else. The speakers performance still holds relevance. edit 2: As someone who has engineered speakers in the past, what is your process? Do you FEA a driver and simulate BL and Cms curves? If so, why?

Welcome to the IHoP
I'm waiting to see if a guy on another forum has the nuts to speak again after the show. He was calling me every name in the book leading up to the episode because "Duh, the plane won't fly!" He also had a mystery group of engineers at Boeing on speed dial that said the plane will never fly. I asked for their phone # but he never came through.
