  1. Select Start? Werd....Contra. There's a band named that...I think they're screamo but haven't listened to them in ages and can't remember for the life of me.
  2. Jesse Cook - Gravity (whole album) A little Nuevo Flamenco for ya.
  3. Did you look at one of the sites linked on the main forum here? Down near the bottom.... Or in my sig.
  4. Just finished watching Ravenous and now its time for bed....should stop these late night movies but find myself rather stirred as the hours pass.
  5. Very happy birthday to ya, Jim.
  6. Not at all. For example, Occam Audio is now selling the MTM 7 using two of these: http://occamaudio.com/Products.html The lower the Fs on the tweeter you're using and the higher the order of the high-pass section of your crossover, the better your satisfaction will be. You can contour response a bit as well if you'd like but it's not completely necessary. I believe there have been a couple of projects on DIYAudio using these (one from a guy named Timn8ter or something to that effect that is really well done). I will have the Occam MTM 7's in my possession in the relatively near future and can comment further on it's performance at that time.
  7. Passed out from the heroin? PIIHB.
  8. I don't know what's up with pre-amps that don't have phono.....very disappointing. Might be tough to find one with XLR AND phono (since XLR is primarily pro-audio and there's not much vinyl used there) but it's possible. Budget?
  9. You would need a recone that included all the "soft parts"....ie. voice coil, former, leads, cone, surround, etc. I don't know if Mike sells recones. You could get it reconed through Fi Car Audio if you wanted, I'm sure, or you could sell the D4 you have and buy a new D2.
  10. I got the explanation from my boss, who is of course German, not that it means it is true. Sort of makes sense though. Your story could be 100% true. The two most cited stories are: 1. Copying Romer. 2. Using the temperature of his body (which he said was 96 degrees Fahrenheit) and the coldest temperature in his city. But there are another 5 or 6 stories that are considered fairly plausible.
  11. Rankine (I think that's what it's called) came after Fahrenheit, right? Yes. I can't remember exactly but I believe zero Rankine is equal to absolute zero...to convert from Rankine to Fahrenheit you subtract something like 460 degrees...to go from Fahrenheit to Rankine, you add 460 degrees...they both use the same size degrees. Rankine wasn't developed until the mid 1800's whereas Fahrenheit came about towards the beginning of the 1700's (1720 something). Romer was developed in 1701. My mind is built to remember obscurities like this in fields that I love (aka Physics...I've considered switching my major to it) but I might be off on some of that.
  12. I don't think the 880 does but the 890 and 895 do.
  13. I remember reading maybe 5 years ago about how Fahrenheit "might" have visited Romer and decided he quite liked his scale for measuring temperature...so he quadrupled the value of the divisions and called it the Fahrenheit scale. But I think there's about 7 or 8 different stories about how the Fahrenheit scale came into existence.
  14. I think I will just quote temperatures in Kelvin (System Internationale) from now on. Or maybe Romer? Heh.
  15. Hmm, I feel for your disturbance young skywalker. Amusing that it happens less than a week after you saying you might pop the question. I think your thoughts are pretty natural and the concern is real...but welcome to life. Do realize that neither you or her will change. The real question is are you happy and will you continue to be. Don't pick your idealistic life and fit it to the scenario, but consider your life now and what your soon to be plans are and think about it from there. You can't plan 10 years and be accurate (think about 10 years ago and where you wanted to be). Tough though, I know how you feel. If you want my phone number it is a pm away. Either way the rash and quick decision is the wrong one in a scenario like this, take a step back ponder and go at it with a plan. Everything's good over here. I am a thinker...so I sit there and think and think and think and think...it gets me into trouble. I told her that sometimes I want to be alone and I don't know what my future in a "family" holds but I know for now I am happier with her than without so might as well take things as they come.
  16. I like a nice cup of NeoCitran before I go to bed if I've got a cold. I haven't had one in a long time....I can't remember the last time I was legitimately sick (ie. not just feeling lazy).
  17. I know I can hear a difference between vinyl and CD and that's not always just because of the master (although that is usually the predominant difference). But that's not why I buy vinyl....I buy it because I love it...it's esoteric, nostalgic, and genuinely fun.
  18. Another forum I am on does not understand (for whatever reason....well, I guess I know the reason is stupidity) that -40 degrees Celsius is the same as -40 degrees Fahrenheit. They seem to think that -40 Celsius is like breaking 0 Fahrenheit. Subtract 32 and divide by 1.8. Simple.
  19. Probably won't buy it. I've listened to it a few times already and thought it was pretty good but I haven't seen this release on vinyl yet...thus it's not in my immediate plans to purchase it.
  20. I don't have a problem with the new members because they are the lifeblood of a site. If CarAudio.com did not routinely pick up new members, that site would be in serious trouble in my opinion, because it sure isn't the site owner driving that site forward. But the people on DIYMA are so afraid of the slightest change....they don't want new members, they don't want a new member section, they don't want anyone to disagree with one another...and they are very quick to say that the forum has jumped the shark when the reality is that it will only jump the shark if they're the ones driving the boat.
  21. Your thoughts.... If you are without a girlfriend or wife, do you miss that? If you do have a wife, do you ever feel like you could do without that? I've been with my girlfriend for almost 4.5 years and I just feel like I'm wasting my time and hers. I don't want kids when I'm older and I don't think I want a wife who wants or needs things because I intend to be very career oriented. So I am thinking about calling it quits.....but what if my mind changes 10 years down the road? Would I regret not being with her? But does it make sense to stay with someone because you think there's a possibility you might change your mind in 10 years?
  22. DIYMA is packed full of fucking babies lately. Ridiculous.
  23. Class doesn't start till 11:30 for me here and there is a rumour it might be cancelled due to the weather but I guess we'll see about that. I wouldn't mind staying in bed but I refuse to skip today unless they officially announce the school is closed.
  24. Just wrapped up the night with a viewing of The Big Lebowski. Time to hit the hay...bright and early for school tomorrow.
  25. That is why people like me need to work hand in hand with people like you...that's how you really get shit taken care of.
