  1. Bob is in the development stages of about 5 different drivers right now and several different kits, but I don't believe there are any plans for a 5" in the immediate future. The FR125 has been perhaps Bob's most successful products and he has several kits built around that driver...I don't believe they will make a 5" that could be closely compared to the FR125.
  2. I have received a number of pm's and emails from friends and strangers alike asking to hear more about the CSS SDX7 after I wrote about them on AudioJunkies.com. Just to give you a little background, Bob from CSS sent these to me with a pair of Extremis' in the hopes that I would be able to supply some measurements for both the SDX7 and Extremis. Unfortunately, I ran out of time and haven't captured any FR, THD, IMD, etc. But what follows is my opinion based on a few excerpts from earlier posts I made. Almost forgot...you can get the SDX7 from www.creativesound.ca for $100. I imagine they'll be available from Kyle at acoustic-visions.com in the near future as well, but I believe he's still out of town at the moment. Pictures and full thread.
  3. So when will you be home next? 2010? lol
  4. Sounds like a good time. Who were they playing tonight? A little Iron Maiden before bed is a good thing.
  5. I know....I'm a big linear BL junkie...there aren't many I haven't had or listened to.
  6. So tempted to finally pick up one of the new XXX's of my own, but alas...
  7. I admit I've never mixed anything in my life, though I have all the programs to do so. As a secondhand opinion (heard from some in the industry), Audacity is a bit clunky. Reaper is supposed to be excellent. Both programs are freeware so you can try them out and see if they'll fit your needs before dropping any cash on a program. There are a few programs that I could supply you with, if you'd like, that would constitute pirated software but I think the learning curve is well beyond what even a very clever 13 year old could handle.
  8. The difference in quality is extremely small but the difference in file size is quite noticeable. If the goal is best quality, might as well just rip it as FLAC.
  9. Sure do I don't have an iPod, actually. I do rip all my CDs to my hard drive in 320k MP3 to keep backups and keep copies in the car, in case they get stolen. I'm certainly not going to pay for my music twice! I have a few pics up of it here: http://www.sundownaudio.com/misc/02_Civic/ It still need a bit of work... I did neaten the wires a bit since then, although, they are all totally hidden so it's not a huge deal. Still need to finish deadening one of my doors... and I need to get rid of those Kicker SS comps, they are too harsh. Why wouldn't you rip as v0?
  10. The only music I buy now is vinyl. A lot of it is second hand but I also buy new albums on vinyl if I really like them. I pirate everything else as FLAC.
  11. Yes, the Tempest (and Tempest-X) are 15", whereas the Shiva (and Shiva-X) are 12" in diameter.
  12. Eric Johnson - Ah Via Musicom Fantastic album for guitar work.
  13. Honestly, those are the type of people who are usually best left to their own devices. Just take pride in getting a good product at a great price and let him remain blissfully ignorant. You've probably got better things to do, anyways.
  14. Scott was co-owner and the engineer behind all RE Audio designs. He sold his share and started Fi. The companies are similar in stylistics and parts selection. Fi Car Audio operates with a direct sales system, whereas RE Audio moves product through their Brick and Mortar dealers. Each approach has their own respective advantages and disadvantages...the obvious advantage for Fi Car Audio is that their pricing is quite a bit lower. Each company offers products of equal quality. Either way you go, your satisfaction is almost guaranteed as long as you pick the product that suits your needs most adequately. All this stuff is available via the search function, if you're interested.
  15. It's a different type of comedy, for sure. I still liked both movies, though. Anchorman more than Dodgeball.
  16. If it was here, are we sure it wasn't lost when the forum went down in February?
  17. Sales should definitely be done over the phone or in person. This email for sales stuff is BS if you're serious about it. Of course, if you're just trying to do large volume, email might be acceptable.
  18. My right ear is tender today for the third time in recent memory....scares me. I'm very delicate with my ears...maybe it's time to keep the headphones off a bit more.
  19. Nice KEF monitors. A steal at $9.98.
  20. Probably not. lol
  21. Invoice this...
  22. Not really practicing, its a odd story I can tell you on the side via PM if you want to know. Its more of a thing of trying to hold on to the remnants of my history for Arthur. That is a great thing. Even if you're not hardset in your faith, it is always good to have a solid understanding of your history. With my fathers side being Catholic and mothers being Jewish, it is an odd arrangement and with religion to be passed down by the mother but the Catholic presence being so strong a compromise was made by presenting me with both. But with the young age of my sister at the death of my father, my little sister grew up Jewish. As I feel I am an Agnostic, I appreciate the lessons and teachings and structure that I learned from both sides, so that is more of what I want to pass on to baby Arthur. Now with Amanda's family being very strong Baptist, it does not gel well with me and what I understand as truth and reality. But I let people say their peace or make their point to reaffirm themselves in what I feel as them not having accountability because a higher being will take care of it, while I politely say okay and nod my head. In no way is this meant to be a religious statement or debate or statement supporting Karl Marx, just me saying what my "arrangement" is. Ah well no need for PMs now, lol. Quite an interesting religious pairing there....Catholic/Jewish marries strong Baptist. Probably best that you're Agnostic, then. lol.

  24. Dumb arses, curious as to what things however. Any of the company news or info that is posted by the owners or staff, that is reposted other places. Really kind of undermines the purpose of the dedicated company forums, along with other forums who have unofficial sections of a few of the company sections we have here. Double Troof. Neil, please don't read that as anything against SG with M5 there. That is not in any way my rant. Just want to clear that up. I don't take it that way at all and I know exactly what you are talking about. I don't mind when people link right to SSA but when they put verbatim what was said on SSA and don't direct people to the source, I find that a bit irritating. Ok good, just hoped you did not take it the wrong way. And of all places, M5 should be on SG. Non-mainstream, DIY size company based out of Canada. Until now, I thought the M5 was code word for something else. Are you referring to me? Mach 5 Audio.
