Nice work *haves a hard time contemplating F to C with a paper/presentation. well, at midterm I had an F and after this I now have an 83.4% Mind you this was worth 40% of our grade so perhaps that played a big roll Thanks though, I'm glad someone at least said something about it. Quite a turn around to say the least.

I got into what.cd tonight and just in time...it's free leech for the weekend. Even better, there are just over 3700 FLAC torrents on the site. Once I get PU, I'll try and bring some people over there.

I need new headphones.
I will recommend the guys at HeadRoom as a good place to start looking. The best thing about HeadRoom is that they rate products based on value and are very honest about what they sell (and they sell most of the major brands in the headphones world). If you're looking for an IEM (ear canal style), look at the Etymotic ER-6i. Circum-aural (goes over the ear): Beyerdynamic DT 231's, Sennheiser HD280 Pro's, or Sennheiser EH350's. For supra-aural (goes on the ear): AKG K81DJ's or Grado SR60's (with HD414 pads; I really don't recommend them without) or Allessandro MS-1's

Budget? The SR60's and SR80's are ok....not totally sure that they are the best detail and they are darned uncomfortable to wear unless you get some different pads (Sennheiser HD414's come to mind). Can I assume about the same budget?

My Monsters!!
Judging by the basket, venting below the spider, soft parts, and the shielding, I'd say Tang Band W6 subwoofers.

Topic? I love when a prof agrees to drop the lowest. And someone earlier mentioned that they weren't allowed to drink in their engineering faculty....I think it's actually encouraged at the local University here.

Yeah, I guess we're both right. It's vibrational movement. Fans definitely can't do that though. With the right controller they can. The eminent LT is a fine example of this and where the whole conversation started from. Is that the fan thing in that one video floating around? off to google Yup. I think it's the LT but I could be wrong on the model name. I know it's an Eminent Technologies product, though. Your normal desktop fan is capable of doing it also (otherwise we wouldn't be able to hear the sound of the air going over the fan blades). Take that potential, develop a controller that can accurately control the fans motion to match that of the input signal, and you have that Eminent piece. Kind of cool but really, really hard to scale up. Imagine trying to start and stop a fan on a dime on transients....wouldn't work too well. As I understand it, that's why the bandwidth is limited to around 25 Hz...it just can't accurately do anything higher than that. And of course, our ears are a lot less sensitive in the bandwidth that they are marketing it so a little loss of accuracy is no big thing. But the damn thing costs something like $17,000. Wanna split on the costs with me?

Check the codec used to encode, not the bitrate. Look for VBR (variable bit rate) mp3's encoded with the v0 or v2 setting. Google for a program called audio identifier that will help you. If it is CBR, then it is usually safe to assume that at a lower bitrate, the quality will be lower (although this says nothing about transcodes). If it is VBR, the bitrate is not a guarantee of quality in any way, shape or form.

I only have one pair of pants that requires a belt and I'll be damned if you ever catch me without a belt on. That's just stupid. I don't understand how that would be comfortable, cool, or intelligent.
