Magnum Wall nearly completed :)
Truthfully, if I were to compete in SPL, that is exactly the type of thing I would want to do. I love it and congratulate you on some very fine work.

Welcome to the IHoP
I'm just grumpy this morning. Shit happens to everyone and I don't feel sympathetic for myself; it's all within my power to change.

New Mag proto pics
For goodness sake people, let's not make this a big "whoring for free equipment thread...." Looking forward to pics.

Welcome to the IHoP
I dislocated my shoulder last night while on my longboard and, even worse, I've really hurt my back again. And on the positive side: I hate my job! But seriously, wootage for teh SSA.

Does CSO work for you guys?
Word on the street is that Josh is going through a divorce and the server is located at the house where his Wife is.

Magnets of a larger diameter, I assume? Anything else you're up to discussing about the motor? I realize you won't want to give up some of the secrets of success at SI, just digging anyways. Always need to have some Fibutron I really look forward to hearing this in comparison with the old Mag's and am interested in the pics. Hopefully success continues for SI in the future.

In terms of SPL and the mic.
Inuitively, it's a very clever idea. The first thing of note is that a microphone, in particular it's diaphragm, has a resonant frequency well above the range of frequencies allowed in SPL competitions. In general, smaller items have higher resonant frequencies. For microphones designed for measurement over a wide frequency range, they typically use multiple diaphragms with various filters to keep frequency response as neutral as possible. If this were not the case, we would still have to make it pass impedance correction circuitry. I'm not totally sure if those used in SPL competition are piezoelectric, dynamic, or condenser microphones (which would describe the exact specifics in which they work) but the above roughly summarizes why I *think* it wouldn't work.

Some pics of the lines...
They used Split Coil on the Poly 6.5's; that was the only line that used a linear BL method. The old Avalanches used to employ split gap ... Touche, I didn't even think back that far.

Welcome to the IHoP
Which Adire drivers are we waiting to be cleared out?

Welcome to the IHoP
Signed up for a new server on leaseweb.com with 2000GB bandwidth per month. We'll see how close I can come to that.

Some pics of the lines...
Ok uploaded them to my gallery. Thanks Aaron. The Havoc looks great.

Welcome to the IHoP
How long have you been playing soccer, Aaron? I played when I was younger and had some very good success, but I stopped when I was 16 because of a bad back. The ICON has been fun so far. I was at my Uncle's farm last night and we put 3600W of music on it with a QSC PLX3602. Had to use a pretty small ported enclosure to really limit excursion at that power and we used music with relatively little low frequency content to keep the coil out of trouble, but there was no damage done. It's a quick way to break it in, that's for sure. Hopefully have sometime over the next couple of weeks to get some good listening in.

Some pics of the lines...
Is there a possibility someone could download the pictures and re-host them somewhere else? Maybe even the SSA gallery? I can't see them at work and that's where I'll be for quite a while today.

New Setup testing
Wow, well done. I would love a few MD3's but simply don't have the cash I can allot for those amps. I look forward to the videos.

I fuggin love the mail
you serious? -John 100% serious. Speakers are not something I'm prepared to lie about. Well, I haven't totally decided yet, but it will likely be something like 2.5 feet by 3 feet (29" x 36"). Might go a little wider, but we'll see. edit: I should mention I'm a touch worried about running out of Xmax at lower frequencies and will have to cross whatever sub I end up using a little higher than I wish; however, I think long term I will add a 10" bipole setup below the FR's.

I have a feeling that, in the application it will be used for, midbass will be a little lackluster for some people's taste. They are FR's and this is my 3rd go around with them. Top end is good, particularly for the size with no wizzer cone used, but it lacks a little bit of detail that you would gain with a dedicated tweeter. Still, the usability is very impressive, with good low frequency performance. If I were to have one complaint, it would be that the inductance is a little high for my liking, which is part of the limiting factor on the top end AND the detail. It has roughly half the Xmax of the AA Poly 6.5, but has greatly higher inductance (maybe they didn't want to drop efficiency even more with some more copper in the motor?). Still, I love these and am very familiar with them, which will make them very fun in the enclosures I'll be using. edit: Ok, enough secrecy to build suspense. The FR125's will be going in an Open Baffle design and the thing in the box....well, that's an ICON. Oh, and it just took 3600W a few minutes ago.

Isobaric theory
Well posted and, dare I say, rather timely as well.
