I've always want to run a sub in my house but can't figure out how to power it. I once used a cpu to power the amp.. but those are crazy expensive to get one big enough to do anything... so i was wondering.. Can you use something like these to power a sub in your house? http://pro-audio.musiciansfriend.com/live-sound/live-power-amplifiers I thought I might have seen some people use these to power subs in there house and was wanting to try it out if it does work. Also, is there a way to use a bass guitar amp head to power them?.. I play bass for my church and I could just bring a bass cabinet's head home if that works?.. Because one time we had a party and my friends hooked up music to his dad's bass head/cabinet and we used those for the subs for the music for his b-day.

And it says free shipping so I was wondering how long it would take usually from when I order it, to getting it at my house. ! thanks again. Hey just wondering if anyone knew about how long it takes on average for you to receive something if you purchase it from the SSA Store and its the free shipping? I was thinking about ordering something today or tomorrow but I was wondering how long it might take to get to my house?.. I just have a lame voltmeter from advance auto parts and its like the little needle that moves and i hate it.. the one you have is so gorgeous and a lot easier to read quickly like at a glance than my crap one..

thanks for fast replies! I went to my local audio shop and got 8ft of 4awg for $2 a foot.. But the guy was awesome and gave me 2 extra Feet free because it was the end of the spool! ! Glad I went when i did and also no shipping charges! You guys rock thanks for replying so fast! :woot: :woot:

Alright so I have been waiting to get money for 1/0 wiring and then my friend who is in an automotive electrical class in a local college here messaged me and said that he thinks 4 awg would be big enough for my big 3 Since my alt is only a 70 amp alt and He read that 4 awg should carry up to 150 amps.. At least in that short of a run (1ft-5ft runs) Just wanna make sure if this will work before I buy it in about 45mins. I dont have enough yet for all the 1/0 but I have enough to afford 4 awg if it is good enough now. After he said that i figured well 1/0 can carry more current at a time and quicker.. but.. If my alt only puts out 70 and 4 awg can carry 150.. Is there really any point in getting something that carries 300amps?.. Let me know if i'm wrong!! I just wanna get this done if I can will 4awg cuz my lights dim and figure this would help until I get another battery later this year. Thanks as always!

Easy, JL has a thing on their amps where it is suppose to automatically sense when the music is on and then turns on the amp as soon as it recieves signal from the HU. There is a way to bypass that on the side of the amp. I use to have that amp and sometimes mine wouldn't sense very good so it might not turn on until turned up louder and sometimes wouldn't shut off for a while cuz It was slow at realizing my system was off and needs to turn off. Hopefully that is it. I forgot which setting that is but look it up online in the manual for the amp cuz you can turn that sensor thing off and have it as always on like from the remote wire turn on instead.

Its a dual 2 ohm that I wanna wire to 1ohm at the amp. And also What gauge do you use to wire to the amp? I thought online it said 4awg but I didn't know if that was enough.. but then Also I thought maybe the input on the amp for power wire might only accept up to 4awg like the site says. and yeah Im doing my big 3 in 1/0

I'm pretty broke but for extra money I answer questions online for a company at 10cents a question. Lets just say I'm 1,903 questions away from buying your amp LOL. But I'm doin it now and I should hopefully even get enough by the end of the week cuz Ill work super hard since I am actually working towards something. How much power do you think this thing will need to run full blast? I know obv i can just turn the amp down until i upgrade if i really have to but as of now I have stock 70amp alt and all stock electrical. I'm planning on doing the big 3 this week or next though. Im not sure if that alone will be able to power it full blast or not? any thoughts people?

can you post a link to an actual good welding wire on welding supply? I'm afraid I wont buy the right thing lol.. Ill cry if i spend 20-30 bucks on the wrong wire lol and is it worth the price difference as in im poor lol.

If I buy wire for my big 3 online at knukonceptz, there are 3 wire choices.. are all 3 fine? I'm getting 1/0 for sure but I mean where you can choose either KCA Kable/ KLXM Kable/ Kolossus Flex Kable. Does it matter which one I get or will any of those 3 be perfectly fine for my Big 3/ Which is best. I am leaning towards the $1.75 because obv. its cheaper and Im assuming the one thats $1.95 is the same but more flexable.. and then the one that is around $3 is overall better wire? I'm planning on ordering some wire for my big 3 tonight or in the morning so I wanna make sure before I spend the money lol. Thanks guys!

If i run a second battery in back, can I run the negative terminal of the back battery just to the car's body?.... or do I have to run a negative cable from the front battery back like the power?.. I'm guess since the negative is grounded to the car I can just drill and bolt it to the car ... like in my trunk area

Also it might be good to let you guys know I NEVER run my system with the engine off EVER. So I know that will help make sure that I never run the batts too low. Also they farthest I ever drive is about 20 mins tops.. and that is realistic because i dont think i have ever drove farther then 20 mins in my own car unless once to a theme park 30 mins away.. So my system will never be running for a long period of time. I am hoping that since my average drives are 5-15mins that with the voltage the 2 batts store would be able to stay good enough for that short of a thumpin drive.. Idk lemme know i just thought they probably wont drain that quickly to a danger level or anything. my regular batter is like 520/435amps under the hood ( standard crappy honda battery from local auto store) so adding a kinetik 1400 I would think would add quite a bit of juice to my current power.

I've never heard anything bad about a kinetik battery yet from anyone that I know that has used them for their systems but yeah I'll measure and post the size later today. ** Also, When/IF I add a battery in back, do I have to have a Battery Isolater?.. I'm not sure if I wanna mess with all of that. Do you guys all put in battery iso's or do you just wire em up without an isolater? Is it ok for me to do it without one, will there be any problems if I dont use an isolater for my second battery?

forget brands for a moment.. First off I just need opinion's about what to do and what will work. I mean its fine to offer your opinion on the best brand of battery but first I need to know what it is im going to be doing, as in just one up front or 2 and I have no idea which xs battery would fit upfront in a 97 civic hatch. I was leaning towards the kinetiks as they are for sale locally and cheaper since its on craigslist but if it is a major diff. I can go with xs. I was just going to save 50-100 bucks for i figure not enough diff. to matter. Edit basically what shogen said, if you recommend that brand I wanna know what battery is an equivalent to the 1400hc since that is what I was looking at.

the biggest that I can fit is the kinetik 1400 under my hood. Is it better to have just the 1400 kinetik under my hood by itself or to have my regular crap battery up front like normal with the 1400 in back by my amp wired together? I know obviously having both of them together is technically more power but Im not sure if that is bad for my car? Also.. would the 1400 alone if i did go alone with it upfront be enough on my tiny stock alt to power 1000-1200 rms?.. ( if it can't do you think they could power it together?.. that is if it isnt hurting my car as mentioned above) or there is a baby little kinetik 600 on craigslist here for like 65 bucks.. but i doubt it would do crap lol. but you guys tell me, you are the genius' Edit: and yes I already plan on getting a new alt before the btl and huge amp next year**

Ok so here's the deal, I have my 18" SSD and I'm about to get a bigger amp for it (aq1200d or audiopipe or sax1200d) back to the point.. I want to make sure I have enough power to give it. I drive a 97 civic I think its like a 70amp alt. All stock electrical ( im also doing the big 3 to all 1/0 next week ) but I dont know enough and need help about batteries. Basically if I add a Battery is that going to be enough power to run my subs or do second battery's not even help on a stock alt? I see a bunch of people on here who always have batteries added and so I want to know if i can just add a battery to the back and be ok with my stock alt. I'm think along the lines of a kinetik 1400 or something ( there is one on my craigslist atm for under $150) I know tons of you have installed batts in your cars so I know you have hands on knowledge about how much they can do for your system. PLEASE HELP ME!! I need to know as much as I can about how good a battery helps and if this will even power it. Thanks Jordan

Andrew could you post a video in here to show me your system so I can see how it hits on your sub? because I know it would be a very similar result. Maybe like show the excursion and anything you want? it destroying your car lol if it can do that... Should I be able to make my back windshield wiper bounce with my 18" ssd at its full power? Just wonderin lol.. or and window flexin/ door panels flexing?
