Fi BTL on Low Power
Ok, so iv been looking at power capabilities of wire sizes and im only running 4 gauge to the back of of my trunk. Now according to 12volt, with the length of the wire it will only be able to take around 600 watts rms of power. Would running my amplifier at 1 ohm, 1500 wrms, stress/overheat the wire? If this is true, maybe ill just run my amp at 4 ohms, (375 wrms) until i can run some 0 or 2 gauge wire once i buy it.

2004 Impala - Fi BTL 18" N2
Hehe, its a stunt let me tell you. Ill post step by step pictures of how i need to do it. Because theres so little clearance ill be using a ratchet with a star screwdriver attachment to crank down all the screws. BTW, does anyone have suggestions as to what screws i should use to actually mount the subwoofer with?

Box Design Help
- 2004 Impala - Fi BTL 18" N2
Building it in the basement, OK so, here is what iv decided to do, because it wont fit, and because i butchered that one baffle pretty bad this is what i did. I kind of flush mounted a bottom baffle for extra support, and will be screwing the top baffle to that. Heres what it looks like. (I know i know i messed up that cut bad, thats why its on the bottom ) My box doesnt fit with the top on so its not secured yet.. Im going to have to slide my box into my trunk first, then glue and screw down the top baffle and sub while its in my trunk with like 2" clearance..... awesome Also, got my gains set properly using my multimeter and a 45hz test tone. What do you think . Not bad for my first time.- 2004 Impala - Fi BTL 18" N2
Ok... So my box wont fit with the double baffle.. Its too high. I think what ill do, is use the router to cut the height down just around where the sub needs to be mouted, that way i can still basically have a double baffle, with the same height as a single.- 2004 Impala - Fi BTL 18" N2
Thanks Shogen, its coming along very well.- 2004 Impala - Fi BTL 18" N2

Feeling a bit better about it today, yesterday i was a little nervous because it was my first time but im getting the hang of it. Had a little bit of a scare because i split the wood with my first screw I used a bit of a bigger drill bit for my pilot hole and that fixed the problem. Hopefully pictures later tonight.- 2004 Impala - Fi BTL 18" N2

- Trunk Box Problems
Yes im sure i cant fold my seats down, iv already thought about firing through aero ports through the rear deck, but i dont really have the most knowledge and such quite yet. Ill keep it simple with my first box. I might switch it up later on. We will see.- Trunk Box Problems
I am designing the box with the help of Altons box calculator (It actually does all the work). I think that will be my best option with the sub facing up, That way i can try the port in any direction with just rotating the box. Thanks guys i hope this works out!- Trunk Box Problems
Oh, why doesnt it work when the port and sub are facing opposite directions?- Trunk Box Problems
You dont understand? I DONT HAVE MONEY- Trunk Box Problems
Final descision. Sub facing rearward, port facing forward, and if sound doesnt move that well because of the lack of folding seats, ill cut a big slot in the rear deck.- Trunk Box Problems
I dont have the money to get a new sub, or get a recone, or anything really.. So im sticking with the 18" in a 5.5 cu ft box. Lets see how it goes.- Trunk Box Problems
Yes, i have room for that stuff when need be, the main reason i bought the 18" was because it was for sale locally... for lots cheaper than i cud get a 15- Trunk Box Problems
