I would go with the pair of 12's.

What are ohms
Ohms is a measure of resistance. Need to match the sub and amp. If you bought the 2 ohm version of the BL, you will wire the coils in parallel making a 1 ohm load. Find an amp that makes max power at 1 ohm, not 2. There is a section titled BASIC ELECTRICAL here you need to read: http://www.carstereo.com/help/Articles.cfm Or read about ohms and many other topics here: http://www.bcae1.com/ Brian

(6) Mayhem 15's and (6) 40.1's
Ready to go. Going to have to bring the van on the trialer, since my 2 boys will be with me. Not going to let them ride in the van with not enough seats and seat belts.

(6) Mayhem 15's and (6) 40.1's
These subs are just to hold me over until SMD subs. Scott said they shoudd take 2000-2200 watts, but I will test that I did not have any foam tape, so I tried to use the rubber gaskets for now. They all fit but the center one. . .

(6) Mayhem 15's and (6) 40.1's

(6) Mayhem 15's and (6) 40.1's
UPS dropped off 6 of these this week to hold me over until the SMD subs are here. . . They sound awesome. Should have more pics and videos soon. . . Brian

2x12bl vs 1x12 btl
2.5 cuft is not enough airspace for (2) 12's. . .
-
2x12bl vs 1x12 btl
Hmmm. . . . My vote is for a single BTL 12 if you only have that much air space. I am not sure if Nick caught that you only have 2.5 cuft of airspace total. . . You playing music at all, or just burping?

2x12bl vs 1x12 btl
Is that 2.5 cuft per sub, or total?

AA Arbiter TM
Baffle step assumes the speaker is in "free space". If a high-end speaker has baffle step compensation in the crossover design, it normally needs to be placed away from the wall to take advantage of it. Just offsetting the tweeter can smooth the response quite a bit. http://sound.westhost.com/bafflestep.htm http://www.trueaudio.com/st_diff1.htm I know my speakers also have much better imaging when away from the wall. . . AA Arbiter TM
I doubt it makes a difference. I say that for 3 reasons: I am not sure how much measuring Chad did as far as adjusting those crossovers for baffle step correction. You are changing the original tweeter anyway. I would guess you do not plan on placing them 4 ft from the wall behind them. Go for it.

xcon or dc level 4xl
I like AA, never have run a SSA or DC product, but from what I do know about the two, I voted Xcon. Don't let the term SQ fool you - I bet these subs will get LOUD! Maybe I should try 6 of them in my wall and just see how they do. . . Brian

15" btl fully loaded and saz-2000d
Sounds like a nice setup. . .

New Look
I like it.

18" BTL Response Time
btl's are awesome!!! great sub for bassrace.

Couple of questions and opinions needed here
unless they have 8's in stock, there is going to be a wait while AA is making a change to the basket. the havoc 12 is a nice loud SQ sub.

General Questions
Maybe you did not catch each sub has two voice coils. If you get the dual 2 ohm model, you wire the coils in parallel to the amp which make a 1 ohm load. 2200 watts per BTL at 1 ohm is great! Brian

aa 8" assassin questions

aa 8" assassin questions
AA is working on a new version of the 8" basket. I have not seen prices yet, and I have not heard when they will be available. Brian

Fun SPL event and get together. . .
Fi just gave me a heck of a deal on (3) Type X 12" subs. First place in each class will get a Type X 12" sub as the prize!!! Thanks Scott! My subs for the van will also be here by then, so plenty of demos that day! Brian
