  1. Or somethign like a Lanzar Opti2000D that does max power at 0.5 ohms
  2. I would add the HiXmCoil option too. Make it easier to sell if you ever decide to, and great option if you add more power.
  3. edit - below is just an explanation of the alt trying to charge the batteries in a situation where the system draws more than the alt can provide. As already stated, if you alt can keep up with the system, the battery is just used as a reserve or to aid in high current peaks. Bigger battery = more plate area. More batteries = more plate area. More plate area = need for more charging capacity. Think about it: 1 battery, 1 250 amp alt. alt can charge that battery with 250 amps. 10 batteries, 1 250 amp alt. alt can only charge each battery with 25 amps. I thnk I have finally just fixed my van charging (fingers crossed). 15 batteries and 1 alt is hard on the alt Brian
  4. I am 99% sure Scott said the answer to that question is NO! edit - I should add when I tested the new BTL, I gained 0.7 dB vs the old BTL in a one-for-one swap using the same amps, same enclosure, and same vehicle.
  5. Wow, missed that. . . looks like too much power to me, so be careful!!! Brian
  6. Looks like 2.5 ft^3 tuned to 23 Hz would work good. How much power do you have?
  7. What does it matter? Order whenever you are ready. . .if they are out for the holidays, they will process the order when they return.
  8. Should work fine. A lot of people do not like Hifonics, but I have never had a problem with them if you do not abuse them. Brian
  9. No. It is the same voltage level as the RCA inputs - It is jus a pass through made for daisy chaining amps. Not in place of the 4-channel. your main speakers would still connect to the 4-channel amp. The rear ouputs of the deck would just drive the LOC. speaker wire = high voltage RCA = preamp level voltage
  10. As already stated: Are you using preamp level for inputs to the Alpine? If yes, daisy chain the line output on the alpine amp to the preamp input of the subwoofer amp. No LOC needed If you are using speaker level inputs to the Alpine amp, use the rear outputs on the headunit, not the amplifier, as the inputs to the LOC. PAC makes a nice 10:1 LOC. It is my favorite for installing amps with factory headunits. Brian
  11. Lanzar Opti6000D can be found new for around $1000. Almost same internals as the Soundstream XXX10000. some claim better results with the Opti6000D
  12. I have got to get back to work on this thing!! Stay too busy all the time, but finally caught back up.
  13. Is that computer going to make it mounted right there??? Should be some good vibration testing
  14. I think you mean the amp's SSF. . . Just like the box depending on the t/s parameters, so does the tuning. Anyone have the old Arsenal t/s parameters?
  15. Just have to watch them to see what they are doing mechanically. Thermally, if you smell the glue on the coils getting hot, you have gone to far. . . Unless you really know what you are doing, they are not going to live long on 5k. . . Brian
  16. If I had my choice, I would do the 12" ported. . .
  17. No. . .Calculated just shy of 2200 lbs added for the sound system.
  18. You can, and more than likely will have to. Still not easy. Example: 3 ft tuned to 23 Hz with a 15 x 3 slot port - port has to be 70" long. I guess you could do a pair of 40" long 4" aero ports and let them stick out of the box. . . Brian
  19. You can get the Dayton plate amps from Parts express. The 500 or 1000 watt version would work great. As already stated, the main difference is the recommended enclosures for car take into account for car cabin gain. 2.7-3.0 ft tuned to 22-23 Hz looks good, but good luck with the port length!!! Might want to try sealed. . . Brian

Got my AA T-shirt when I was in Vegas. . .not sure if I saw any hoodies. I could quit wearing my MTX one from 2001. Brian
  21. There is a dealer in Trinidad. Sound Extreme Engineering You can call the AA dealer line to get more info. Brian
  22. I think the bags are fine. The weight is centered pretty good, and the bags only need 20 psi to level it (they are rated for 100 psi). I also still get good suspension travel just pushing down on the bumper. The output is crazy. I had someone complain a over a mile away, and I was in my shop with the van doors closed while it was playing. I am working on the mids and tweeters in the doors right now. I will get more pics and videos up soon. Seems like I always have a million things going on, so time is short and the van is low on the priority list again. The past two weeks have been too busy with my son playing football. . .
  23. I was pulled over once for not coming to a complete stop before I pulled out of a gas station onto the street. I told the officer that was a stupid reason to pull me over. He said they were trying to crack down on kids cruising on this street that were using this gas station as the turn around at the end of the route. I explained to him I was not cruising, just actually getting gas. Even showed my receipt. He went ahead and wrote the ticket. With a little research, I learned this stopping before entering a roadway has a clause that states "must come to a complete stop prior to the sidewalk before entering the roadway". There was not a sidewalk at this gas station exit. . . I went to my pre-trial hearing and plead my case to the district attorney. After the entire story of why the officer should not have even given me the ticket, and then showing him the reason it was not a valid ticket (where was I to stop if there was not a sidewalk?), the best he would offer is defensive driving. I said no thanks and requested trial by jury. I normally deserve a ticket when I get one and I take care of it. I just would not do it this time. First time I have ever requested trial by jury on a ticket. A defensive driving instructor once told us always request trial by jury if you have a valid excuse, reason for the offense, or it is not a valid ticket and the ticket is not thrown out at pre-trial. Courts don't like jury trials for something as simple as a traffic ticket and a jury is more likely to side with your excuse or common sense than a judge if it goes to court. The down side is if you go to jury trial and lose, you will get hit with the max fine because they will try to get some of their court costs back. But you can always hire a traffic attorney at that point and appeal it if they do. Sure enough in my case, someone reviewed it prior to the trial date and I received a letter in the mail that the ticket had been dismissed and there was no further action required on my part.
