1500 is a better power match for a pair of Chaos. As far a running below 0.5, read this: http://www.soundsolutionsaudio.com/forum/i...?showtopic=7151

too much power. . . 16 sqin per cuft of airspace is plenty. . . Brian

If it is for daily music, keep the Hi Xmax coil. That gives you a fair increase in excursion which is great for playing music. Brian

Whoever is building your box must be fairly new at it. . .If he is going to be building more boxes, you should suggest investing in the Jasper Jig from Parts Express for his router.

The way you are talking and your goals point you toward the BL, not a Q. Post W x H x D dimensions. Makes it easier to figure out what can be done for the port. . . Brian

Trying to decide between AA Havoc and Fi Q
Everyone compares these drivers, but they have a lot of differences. . . A big obvious difference I see according to the websites is the Q has dual spiders, the Havoc has Quad spiders. The fact is, the Havoc is not just a Q with an AA dustcap, so they are not going to model up the same. . . Brian

box design for (old style) 18" btl
You have to add the distance through the center of the port, including the corner.

set gain for 15"SSD
What voice coils? What options? You have a little too much power at 1 ohm, but you can always back it down some.

I would do 14 ft net tuned to 32 Hz for a pair of 18's if possible. Otherwise, minimum 12 ft tuned to 32 Hz im my opinion. If you can't get that, drop down to the (3) 15's in at least 10.5 ft net tuned to 32 Hz.

Ported Box For Fi SSD 18"
It will be around 32-33. I find over 4" wide ports don't seem to follow the 1/2 width reduction for slot effect, but in this case you also have some of the rear corner length that adds on to the length, since the rear opening is almost the same width as the port.

I will have it at the marshall, Tx show in early spring next year. Should have all the mids and tweeters in it by then. . .I hope

RE SR 10's
SR 10's are nice little subs for the money. I have (4) of them for sale if you are interested. Just pulled them out of a sealed install that was doing low 140's at 34 Hz in a std cab silverado. PM me if interested. Brian

Box help
Make it 33.75" wide x 20" high x 17" deep. 3/4" material except double the sub mounting baffle so it is 1.5" thick. Sub and port will be on the 33.75" x 17" face. Port will be 15.5" x 3.5". It will be 28" long, so run it into the box so it is 3.5" from the rear wall and then turn and go 8" parallel to the back wall. Brian

dB-r = the best in repair in my opinion. I know if one of my amps fails, it will go there. I am pretty sure he gives a 1 year warranty - most refurbs are just 90 days. Last time I talked to him, the SAZ-1500D is one of his favorite amps. . .Get the new heatsink for $375. Brian- box design for (old style) 18" btl
Work in progress. . .Will finish the front of the wall tonight and get more pics up. . .- Box help
What vehicle is it? I designed it assuming the sub and port would be on the 34.5" x 20" side. The port will be on the driver's side, sub centered between the port and opposite wall. Brian- setup
On 3000 total, the double cone area is going to win assuming you have enough volume to build the proper box for a pair of 18's. . .- Hifonics Brutus BXi2608D?

Do you have 12 ft gross before driver and port displacement, or 12 ft net volume after subtracting the displacements? Brian - Hifonics Brutus BXi2608D?
