  1. You really should have spec'd dual 2 ohm for a 1 ohm load on each amp. No need to run the amp at 0.5 for daily. . . You can also save money on the heat ring - 3000 watts is no problem without it. Brian
  2. I am north of Dallas. . .You are 3-3.5 hours from me (went to A&M, so I have made the trip MANY times).
  3. They sure do. I can get at least the depth measurement from one of mine tomorrow.
  4. 15 of those are for the van, 7 of them were from the suburban that I sold and need to ship, one of them is for Skip's 63 Nova. Van will have (1) 34/78 under the hood, (14) D31T's in the back. Brian
  5. Left my canera at home (van is at my shop), but the air suspension is finished, trimmed the corner of the box to clear the door hinge, and the headliner is about 50% complete. Just picked up new batteries too. . .I had the new and old batteries in my 1/2 ton truck yesterday - (21) group 31's and (2) 34/78's. Man was it loaded down!! Received my 4/0 charge and ground cable, 50 more feet of 8 ga for subwoofer speaker wire, and a 100' roll of 14 ga for the mids/tweeters. Received my Kenwood Excelon KDX-X692 and KDC-C669 6-Disc Changer. Kicker SX amp remote on the way. Trying to buy a used AC Matrix line driver right now from a guy in Dallas. Will have more pics soon.
  6. Strapped should be roughly 2x the stand alone load. Are you looking for burp or daily? I ran 4 of them at 0.5 impedance (0.35 DCR) daily with no problems. If you have the electrical, they should run at 1 ohm strapped. You have (3) dual 1 ohm subs, are you going to run a strapped pair of amps? If you can find three amps, just run one on each sub. For two amps: If you have (6) 1 ohm coils, I would wire them as 2 sets of 3 coils in series and then parallel the 2 sets. That would give you a 1.5 ohm load which should work great strapped for daily. For burping, you could try wiring each sub's coils in series and then parallel all three subs for 0.67 ohms. If the amp does not like it, I have been told they will go into protect for low ohm loads before they have a chance to self-destruct. Brian
  7. Surely people around here have heard of Ho Problems. . .But how do we know it is really you??
  8. If I get my ATV sold, I am going to buy a new table. . .this post got me thinking about it again. . . And I forgot to say - I like the new site.
  9. Do you want to recone it yourself? One of the AA dealers can get you a recone kit. What is your zip code? If you do not want to recone it yourself, you will have to send it to Fi and they will recone it. Brian
  10. No amp rack yet, but there are plenty of pics out there of 4 of them in the back of my suburban. . .van will just have two more Had to move last week. . .Back to work this week. Finish up the air suspension hoses and get the box back out to finish it. . . Brian
  11. Wow. . .New amp setup looks great!
  12. Man I played darn near every night for three years during college. Got pretty good. . .won quite a few tournaments and had a lot of fun. Have not played more than 10 times since then (1992) Even gave my table to the church so the kids that get there early could play before service. . .

I would stick with the BTL choice because they are awesome subs. . .
  14. Yes, but the SUV is gone. The (4) mayhems are going in the van along with 2 more. . .
  15. When did you email? Fi gets so many emails that it takes a couple of days to get a resonse and then this is a three day weekend. . . Post your zip code and I will try to get you a quote tomorrow when they are back at work.
  16. Man you are welcome anytime. Next up - 1. rear suspension 2. finish the box 3. install alt and run charge wires 4. install batteries 5. build amp rack 6. install amps and subs 7. try to compete with just subs in October
  17. My friend Skip who is helping build the van got bit by a black widow a couple of nights ago while we were working!!! His arm is a mess. got under his watch and bit him twice! Sick, fever, etc. . . .man. He needs to get better fast; we have work to do!!!
  18. Dupli-color truck bedliner coating in the spray cans.
  19. I ordered a pair of BTL's for someone last week and was told it would be about 3 weeks before I see them. . .

When amps are strapped, the required minimum impedance is 2X the normal single amp minimum impedance. So you will need a 2 ohm load for the strapped pair. Run D2 coils. Series the coils on each sub (4 ohms per sub), and then run the pair of subs in parallel (2 ohm total). Connect the negatives of the amps together. Use the positive of the master amp as the positive to the subs. Use the positive on the slave amp as the negative to the subs.
  21. Got amps, tweeters and mids. . . Love the look of the Morel MDT-12's. Never heard them, but am guessing they are going to sound just fine

Just had this conversation with someone that should have known better last week. I think the confusion comes in when the user buys a 2000 watt amp for a sub rated 2500 watts. He clips the crap out of the amp and has now blown past the thermal limitations of the driver and melts the coil. clams underpowering it killed it. But even then, "clipping" did not kill the driver, passing the thermal limits did. If he would have clipped a 800 watt amplifier on the 2500 watt driver, he would have more than likely killed the amp while the driver survived. I could see clipping reducing the driver's thermal rating if you could find a way to clip it hard enough to effect the cooling due to reduced airflow around the coil. . . Man Honda95 did a big test on this. . . Brian

Should be a nice sub setup. I love BTL's. . .awesome daily sub. I agree with the full cooling. Little more money, but really keeps the sub running cooler. Brian
  24. 157.7 @ 36 Hz with (4) BTL 15's on 16,000 watts. 155+ street beat 4 with the same setup.
  25. you have all the power you need. . . the SAE1000D is a nice match for the Havoc.
