12 Q ported vs 15 Q sealed
I have a Q 12 sealed. Went sealed because of space requirements. If I had room, you can bet it would be in 2-2.5 cuft ported, tuned to 32 Hz!

Current draw question
I had a 3 Farad cap in my suburban. 18,000 watts, 9 D31T batts, 260 amp alt, (2) runs of 1/0, (1) run of 4/0. My MIDRANGE amps (old MTX) would dim my headlights without the cap installed. Caps can have uses, but they are not a substitute for having the proper electrical system. . .

empty notes
Assuming it is not just your hearing and the amp SSF is not turned up too high, or the LP filter too low. . .Box design (in your case - sealed box design is pretty much just the internal volume) and the parameters of the sub are more than likely hurting you. I have a small sealed sub in my truck right now and I have several songs I loved to play as demos in my subruban that I now hear nothing but hopeless flapping with my current subwoofer when playing those songs. . . New box, maybe new sub for you if you want to hear/feel those notes. Brian

Time to give Fi a try
Why? It will not damage the driver just because it is used in a box, but the driver was designed for free air applications. I would stick with the Q.

Bxi2610 VS Aq2200d
If you can control the volume knob, the BTL will handle that amp no problem. Does it need that amp? Nope. The power from the 2200 is more than enough for the BTL to perform awesome. Going to need more electrical system than a one battery and a stock alt to support 3500+ watts. Brian

Time to give Fi a try
Just built a subwoofer for a customer using a Fi Q and a 500 watt Dayton plate amp. Almost 8 cuft tuned to 21-22 Hz. Just finished another home subwoofer build - SSA Car Audio Forum It is awesome.

4 Fi Audio IB3 18's walled off 15Hz tune in a VAN BUILD LOG
I used a toggle switch for "park brake", and then connected the foot brake as is should be. Press the foot brake, flip the toggle twice, and release the foot brake. Video on the screen. . .

round port, slot port ?
How much port area you need will depend on: Driver size/parameters How much power you will run Tuning frequency Type of port used Notice I did not say anything about using box volume to determine port area If you want the true required port area for the port to function 100% as it should, you can use this: PORT Size Calculations and Formulas for WOOFER and Subwoofer BOXES But I will warn you, it will ask for a big port. You can get away with less in a car, and even less if you use a flared port. . . Is this for the Xcon 15 and SAZ1500 mentioned in you signature? Brian

8 12s, 6 15s, or 4 18
OMG ! May I ask you if the car is still alive ?!!! Sold the vehicle at 138,000 miles and it had no issues from the loud stereo installed. . . Bought (2) more 40.1's and (2) more mayhems and put it all in an Astro. Brian

What can be the smoothest method\material inside an enclosure?
I tried dual 8 ga per terminal. dropped to single 8 ga per terminal and saw no difference. Even at 15 ft, with 70 amps, there just is not going to be much drop with 8 gauge. more drop at the connections than the wire. . . Is the box removable or built into the car? I have used a 2 part epoxy (like garage floor coating). Just pour it into the box one side at a time and let it sit until it is dry. Make a very smooth surface, but you need to be able to rotate the box to pour it onto each side. Brian

8 12s, 6 15s, or 4 18
(4) 15" mayhems and (4) IA 40.1's running at 0.5 ohms.

What sub would be perfect for me?
If you have room for it, it will be great. . .

8 12s, 6 15s, or 4 18
I would do (4) 15's ported over (6) 15's sealed. (4) 15" Chaos on a AQ2200 would be nice. (4) Havoc 15's on a AQ3500.1 would be nicer. I have run (4) 15's in 11.8 cuft tuned to 34 Hz and peaked over 157 dB @ 37 Hz.

im looking for a good 2000+ amp, any ideas?
The Audioque 2200D is $389 shipped to your door. . .You better pocket $5-10 here and there instead of having a beer or eating out for lunch and get one. . .

8 12s, 6 15s, or 4 18
My astro was 6 15's. That would get my vote. 6 15" chaos if you could fit it into your budget. Even with 4-500 watts each, you get the benefit of the added mechanical power handling if you are trying to build a low end monster.

Fi BTL amplifire
I would choose the AQ2200D for $389 shipped over either of those.

Fi BTL 22? IB22?
Where do you live?? I will come get them and drop them off in Vega. roughly 60000 lbs. . .I'll borrow a truck. I need 22" subs

Hole cutout diameter for 15" Fi SSD
14" with the rubber gasket, 14 1/8" without it.

how much are my 10' AA Arsenals worth?
I would say around $125 shipped each if they are like new. . . Brian

Did you actually get a quote for one, or are you going by the MSRP that has been talked about?

car off, impedence=.9-1.1...car on impedence= -23. wtf
Not quite correct. . . DC resistance is the resistance with DC current applied. Even if the coil moves, if it is DC current, the resistance is the same (assuming the wire does not heat up and increase the resistance). Impedance is the resistance when AC current is applied. Because the coil acts like an inductor, the impedance varies with frequency. Impedance does not just "rise" at all frequencies from the driver being placed in the box. Impedance rise occurs due to impedance changes from different forces on the cone placed in the box. Just like the driver has a free air resonant frequency (and has a spike in the impedance at that frequency), the box will have a resonant frequency. There will also be changes in the impedance at certain frequencies caused by the port tuning, etc. These spikes result in a change to the frequency plot. When playing music, this will normally result in an overall increase in the average impedance the amp sees, since it is not trying to play just one frequency. When burping, you would have to test to determine what the impedance is at the burping frequency - Depending on the sub and the box design, the frequency may be really high, or it could be down near the DC resistance, since the impedance changes with frequency. . . Anyone have experience with the RE XXX components?
They are definitely a nice sounding set of comps. Paired with an 18" BTL, I would assume you are looking for loud just as much as SQ. . .Should work great for your application. Brian
