Is the second battery going near the amps? How far is it from the alternator to the second batttery? Is it the stock alt, or high output? 2 ga will more than likely handle the current, it is just the voltage drop you have to be concerned with. If the run is too long, you will drop voltage when there is a large demand for current from the alternator. Brian

It can work for ported boxes, but it is experimental. If you are "increasing" the size of the box, that will also lower the tuning frequnecy. It is hard to predict how much "increase" in volume you will get, so you could not predict how much shorter to make the port wall to keep the same tuning. It would be build, test, modify, build, test, etc. . . I also would not recommended, since it can interfere with the airflow inside the box, which would also change the tuning frequency. worst case it could make the enclosure react like a leaky sealed box instead of a properly tuned ported box. . . Are you tight on space?

Sub was up and running last night. Pretty incredible driver for the money. 700 watts to it was shaking the house pretty good. I should have got a picture of the finished legs. We added 2" PVC couplings to them to look like feet. Skip is going to bedliner spray the caps and legs and cover the tube in leather.

Ordered it from Lowes. think it was $125 6 years ago. I do not even know if they can order it anymore. It came in a 12 ft section. I built a sub identical to this one with a blueprint 1803 in it. Ended up with smaller subs in my new house, so I sold the 1803 and tube to a guy in Dallas. I sold the other 1803 before I built the second tube to Chad at AA (long before AA). . . Built another sub for a friend with a Stryke AV15 in it. This sub with the IXL-18 is the last of that 12 ft section. . . Brian

If you have the tools to dado the ends of the port walls, you can use PVC to smooth them out. Works great for multiple u-turns like that. Brian

Are the kickers sealed?? Do you have 13 ft^3 net after driver and port displacement, or is that 13 ft^3 gross including the driver and port displacement? I run (4) 15" BTL's in 12 ft^3 after sub and port displacement. the actual box is 16.2 ft^3 gross area. It gets pretty darn loud. . .

You are looking for sealed, so it is very simple. . . you need around 2.6 ft^3 with driver displacement. That is roughly 4500 in^3. you can make the box whatever size you want as long as the internal legth x width x height multiplied together roughly equals 4500. Example. It needs to be 15" high internally for the driver to fit. If you made it 24" wide (22.5" internal), then you could calculate the internal depth as: 4500 / (15 x 22.5) = 13.33 or 13.25 to make it easy. Your internal box would be 15 H x 22.5 W x 13.25 D = 2.59 ft^3 I would face the sub rearward and double the rear baffle that the sub mounts on. Use 3/4" wood, so the external box dimensions will be: 16.5" H x 24" W x 15.5" D That shoudl be pretty easy to follow. If you need more help, let us know. Brian

This will work. Around 3.85 ft^3 tuned to 33 Hz. You could double the front baffle making the box 19.25" deep and get rid of the two small braces.

BTL and be done with it. 18" if you have the airspace for a correctly designed ported box. 2000 watts is plenty for a BTL. While they will handle more, they work great with around that much power (that is what they are rated). The 06 ZX2500 would work great on a BTL.

A true 2600 watts @ 1 ohm is over 50 amps of current. If you were going to be burping with a sine wave, 12 ga would not be the best choice. . .

Got to listen to them for the first time this morning. They sound awesome. Dennis did a good job on the Usher 2-way design, and the Tang Band 8's are awesome. The 15" subwoofer has not been but yet, and honestly, it may not be needed. I have never heard 8's sound like these. . . Brian
