  1. Even if that amp was 2600 watts, it would not be too much for a BTL. You should see how much it would be to get an Audioque AQ2200D to Canada. . . Audioque: Amps: AQ2200D Brian

You might still lose sleep, since they will EACH take double that! I have run (4) BTL 15's on a single US Amps MD2D and they sounded GREAT. That is only 400 watts per sub.
  3. Looks great!
  4. BKOLFO4 replied to soundnlogic's topic in General Fi
Also look at the Audioque 3500.1D. Audioque: Amps: AQ3500D.1
  5. How about this. . . 9 ft^3, 120 sqin of port tuned 33 Hz. box is .75" material except the top which is 1.5" thick.
  6. 9.5 total, or 4.25 each? 4.25*2=8.5
  7. PM sent.
  8. The BL should handle the 1200 watts from that amp with no problem, as long as the box is tuned correctly and the amp settings (gain and subsonic filter) are correct. Brian
  9. The 1200 is fine. The Audioque 1200D is $249 shipped. Audioque: Amps: AQ1200D
  10. (3) 4" PSP aero ports the full 17" long would work. I know people will disagree, but I remember when David from RE was doing 150's with (2) 15" MT's and (4) 4" aero's If you do not like that idea, (2) 6" aeros is MORE than enough for a pair of 12's tuned at 33 Hz. They would have to be 24.5" long.
  11. I guess I was asking which dimensions you wanted to cut down. . . I now see you already posted the vehicle type. . .my bad. Subs and port up, or facing forward? PM me an email address and I will send a design to you. Brian
  12. Doubt it. . .The cost to ship it back to Fi will more than likely offset the cost of any reusable parts. Email Nick and ask him if they can reuse any of the old parts to build you a new one, otherwise, if UPS covered it, just buy a new one.
  13. Which driver is it, and how much power??? XX sqin per cubic foot is a way to estimate based on the fact that a 12" normally takes ~2 ft, a 15" ~4 ft, an 18" ~7 ft, etc. I am not saying it is a bad thing - it is a nice estimate for those that cannot figure out how much port area they really need. You actually determine port area based on the sub that will be used, the amount of power that will be used, and the tuning frequency. It is about air velocity. I have said it many times before. . .Do you think an 18" sub with 6mm of excursion and 300 watts applied will require the same amount of port area as an 18" sub with 27mm of excursion and 3000 watts applied just because they require the same amount of net airspace? Once again, it will not hurt if the lower powered driver has the additional port area, but if space is tight, it is not required. . . Also note that a flared PSP port does not require as much port area to operate properly vs. a non-flared round port or a slot port. Brian
  14. Audioque 2200D - $389 shipped. Audioque: Amps: AQ2200D Brian
  15. That is a lot of air space. . . Could easily cut the width and height down. What is this going in?
  16. I can tell from that box plan that I did it for someone If you still need help, PM me. Brian
  17. BKOLFO4 replied to Cinnabun187's topic in Fi Technical
Maybe, maybe not. Depends on the length of the port and the depth of the box. If it long enough you have to add a bend at the back of the box, then you have now created a slot port (one side of the port becomes the rear wall of the box, which extends beyond the end of the port). If not, calculate it like a standard port.
  18. A pair of AA Chaos 10's would be nice. . .
  19. You should build something like this:
  20. I always set my gains near max, but I used this method to make sure all of my 40.1's were set equally and did not have any problems. Would like to hear what kind of amps have a problem with being turned up with no load on them. . .I will stay away from them.
  21. I will disagree. . .
  22. Either one will work. I personally like the sound of the BTL, but some would never pay more for it if they do not have an amplifier to get full potential out of it. If you plan to upgrade the rest of the system later, go ahead and get a BTL. 1000+ watts is enought to get good output out of it. Brian
  23. Is there plenty of clearance behind it in the box? Looks like it was dropped. You said you bought it used. . .were they shipped to you? Could have been shipping damage that you did not see until the sub was used causing it to come apart. I am sure Scott will be fair in getting it fixed for you. Email them the pic with your contact info. sales @ ficaraudio.com Brian
  24. The problem is that the basket is the cheapest part of the sub. . . Sell your motor and buy a Mayhem.
