  1. Never heard of that and in my experience, they keep a lot of oil in the heads. If anything, they starve the bottom end. Kind of odd you are reading exactly the opposite of all the experience I have had. I've run 5W20 in every modular I've owned, both SOHC and DOHC and one was boosted, another nitrous injected and I have had no issues. I run the same oil and an Amsoil filter in my Mark, and Mobil filter and oil in my truck. My dad has run MC oil and filters in all their mods, but only because he gets the stuff dirt cheap. I am very hard on my performance vehicles also, so they don't get babied.
  2. I've run Mobil, Amsoil, and MC filters with no issue. Filters shouldn't cause any issue. 5W20 will work and should be what's OEM. Sounds like you got one that was abused. I'd like to see what the head looks like once the cam cover is removed. I'm betting there's some sludge in there or once was.
  3. I don't know what the issue was with yours. I know some have had coolant issues as the flow stops at the back of the head and air can get trapped back there or crap built up. If you search any forum that has modular-powered vehicles, you will find hundreds of threads about head coolant mods.
  4. That's a non-PI engine. Same as 96-98 GTs. If you get platinums and don't notice a miss or anything, you can get by with 100K or more. I would change them if you haven't yet. Do plug wires as well.
  5. That plug is oil-fouled and covered in sludge. It's leaking oil by in a bad way.
  6. Any reason you went with the WiiU over the regular Wii. We want to get one but they are sold out everywhere and I can't seem to justify the price. I bought the kids a Wii many years ago, so this was just evolution and I had some WALMART gift cards. I hate the place, but I only paid $150 out of pocket, so no big deal.
  7. If it's worth it to you, then buy it. I love those amps, but still wouldn't pay that much. I can get a brand new amp that will perform just the same or better and be more efficient for far less. It may be new in box, but still no warranty. It could come to you as a $700 paper weight and there's nothing you can do about it.
  8. They seem to have the best learning games and it promotes good hand-eye coordination, and like you, I had several gift cards, so it was a no-brainer.
  9. Bought Gavin a WiiU.
  10. GT6 is out for PS3.
  11. different wheels.. totally different stereo.. and its me all day... im not into bags but.. what dont you like about it Pretty much everything. Most older vehicles I like stock.
  12. Not my cup of tea, but very clean and the price seems reasonable.
  13. I am so sick of not being able to sleep. I am just going to buy a fucking treadmill and run all damn night long. I busted my ass and was tired as fuck today too.
  14. I'm trying to be an honorable man and your temptations are going to make me do someone I don't want to.
  15. FUCKING STOP!
  16. Seriously.
  17. The couple I have seen have just been started and show zero oil pressure.
  18. DO you have oil pressure? I know they've had some oil pump issues.
  19. You can re-use the gears. Most kits come with new ones.
  20. Call the Modular Head Shop. Nick McKinney is a genius with the mod heads. He has awesome prices too and will match timing gears.
  21. It will have torque-to-yield bolts. That means you have to purchase new bolts for them as they can not be re-used. I would pull the cam cover, then the cam and see what you can do. YOu might just have a broken HLA, follower (this will look like a rocker arm), or combination. I don't know what you plan for repair is, but the navigator heads are one of the best flowing modular heads available and you can get a good amount of money out of them if you sell to the Mustang crowd.
  22. If I get a chance, I'll pull the cam cover off my 4.6 tomorrow and show you what I mean.
  23. the hydro lifter? Yes. What does the plug look like?
  24. I can send you some if you need. IIRC, they are 24lbers. If you rule the injector out, I would be suspect of the HLAs collapsing.
  25. OMG, no! Do not ever use Champion, especially in a mod motor. Motorcraft, Bosch, or NGK.
