Genius! They'd have to be wireless of course.

Edit, Sean beat me to the punch.

If you have audible distortion, you have an issue with your equipment or install. Again, your ear is the tool here. Why on earth would you need to measure something that is inaudible and will have no affect on anything?

Clipping will only hurt the driver if the driver can not thermally handle it. This of course will happen over time. I believe Shizzon mentioned this a couple pages back. No issues with blowing your amplifier. Your low voltage will hurt it more than anything, and any good amplifier will have protection and shut off before a low voltage situation does any harm.
  6. My father had a bag phone in the late 80s. I had a beeper throughout HS up until senior year in which I bought an analog phone. I actually miss that thing.
  7. While in high school, I would grab a camera every chance I got and snap pictures of my junk. It's a nice funny surprise. I should have borrowed a few teachers' cell phones for that. Cell phones didn't have cameras when I was in HS. Ha, there were no such things as cell phones when I was in HS.Yes there were, just huge and incredibly expensive.

You are missing the point, a scope can do this for a tone but once you play ANYTHING else it is not accurately set for that content. Nothing is exact, a scope, a dd1, or the ear, but if you can learn to detect stress in your equipment you're set. im not talking about setting anything exact for all types of music recording or conditions . all im saying is in todays high power amps and subs by the time u detect clipping or distortion by the ear is too late . not trying to argue but in order to get the most out of the system i feel it cant be done by ear is all... You don't blow a driver the instant you hear clipping, in fact, most drivers will be able to handle clipping with no issue. If you're setting your gain, and you detect clipping, turn it down. Simple as that. You're buying in to all the BS that sells this "tool" in the first place. If you feel the need to waste your money on said "tool" for piece of mind, by all means do it.

There's no need to find clipping. If the driver is in distress, your ear will detect it. Simple as that.

And you could have done that all by ear.

all im saying is by ear can get u close but no way it can be set dead on .There are no tools you can use to set it "dead on" either. Music dynamics, Hell even power supply dynamics are enough to never have the ability to be constantly level matched. This is the basic fundamental flaw of the dd1.

People have been doing it for ever.
  13. Hell, we didn't have digital cameras yet either. Well, affordable ones at least. a 5MP camera back then was a few grand.

  16. You're right, the Kool-Aid man is more fitting.
  17. Kinda funny, but at first glance, the damage appears to be a shadow of the Warner Bros. Tazmanian Devil.
  18. I don't know if you like chrome or not, but the bumpers and grille matched to body color look great on these things.
  19. Nice! I've always liked the two door Yukon GTs.

It's very useful when used as they designed it. Their design principles however, are the foul here. It's just another one of those "tools" that people think is cool and will buy on ignorance. This guy who is on Youtube and has done nothing more than stuff a bunch of woofers in an SUV on a bunch of power and run around recording people listening to his shit, and people think he's cool and he knows what he is doing. The fact of the matter is, he's done nothing special, in fact, anyone could have done this. He's taking advantage of his "popularity" to make a buck. It's that simple, but people see his videos and they automatically assume this guy is really good with audio and knows what he is doing, so they'll listen to whatever he says.
  21. I've met Sasha! She's a fucking awesome chick! Really down to Earth girl.

Fo sho! You want the SMD forums. We don't polish turds around here. Well, some of us do, but we realize it's still just shit.
  23. I've had the cheap vinyl snap on covers on two of my trucks and never had any issues. I don't think I paid more than $200 for them either.
  24. YOu also have to remember that amp was 100% Made in the USA with 100% US made parts.
  25. How Ironic, I've been searching all week for a new way to sharpen my chisels. How much money?
