Oh just wait. You'll soon be wishing you were 21 again.

Any good for wiring up my subs?
It'll work fine, but once you factor in shipping, you can probably get it locally at Radio Shack or a car audio dealer or big box store for the same price.

LONG fucking day today.

Ethanol is great for making power. Not so good for mileage. True. The idea that it could be any sort of replacement for gasoline in a daily driver scenario is a joke. It is a good alternative to high octane gas though. Equivalent of like 105 octane and costs about the same as pump gas right? It's actually better for the environment as well. I don't know the exact number, but the carbon footprint is about half that of gasoline. E85 is slightly more. As for cost, it depends. IT's usually around 90% that of gasoline and it contains 80% of the energy gasoline does, so you burn more fuel for the same power, but in the end, you probably lose money. So the only real gain is the environmental effect. Not at all how I understand it. You have to include the distillation in your environmental footprint and considering ethanol is a net negative that doesn't bode well for the environment. Add to that what it will do to our soil which is already overused and corn being an aggressive crop it really makes no sense at all. Sugar cane is a different story, but we can't grow that... On top of that building a car to run on a flex standard and that is ridiculous. If you don't gain the benefit of compression then you lose everything that you gain and are now just wasting a shit ton of energy. And then of course looking at how little environmental impacts cars actually have and its just not a logical argument. Hell in LA air has to be "cleaner" coming out of the tailpipe than going into the intake on an average day. I wasn't trying to make an argument and I simply meant in terms of burning fuel that the ethanol is better. I am with you on the production end. I don't like the hybrids either and all the pollution they create make "green" vehicles, but yeah

It'll go down once the oil warms up. Something is off. Unless it has an oil cooler, which I doubt, there are no oil lines needing changed. Everything will be internal. Only thing I can think of is they used an engine flush and something got into the pan and the oil pickup. Pull the oil cap off. If there is sludge, you'll see it right away. Check the PCV valve. No oil cooler. I'll look inside the cap later today. Stupid ? but should I be looking warm or cold? J Doesn't matter. If there is sludge, you'll see it. . . Unless they performed a flush.

That sounds about right. Remember, it will work harder when the oil is cold and pressure will be higher. Once thoroughly warmed, it will come down some. I don't know what they normally run at though. I would assume anywhere between 20-50 psi at idle.

Subs for my tahoe! Advice?
Build your own enclosure only if you want to for the sake of pride and doing it yourself and you have the skill. Frankly, at the price for that loaded enclosure, it's going to be damn near impossible for you to equal it money wise. You may save $50 over that, but being your first enclosure, it's likely not to be as nice or perform as well. Of course, you could be a master craftsman that you've not even known you were and could make the greatest enclosure in the world.

Subs for my tahoe! Advice?
That's a Kicker factory enclosure. You can be sure it's made well and made to perform. I would find a nice cheap name brand 4-500 watt amp and call it a day. Make sure it makes it's power at 4 ohms though.

We've had nasty skeeters all year.

if you had this budget....
5.5 net is 5.5 net; vent displacement does not come into play

IA 187, hows the midbass?
Whatever works best for you. Nobody can give you a definite set point. You'll have to use your ears

Hooking up system with factory radio?
You can mount it wherever you want. You should have 4 wires for a stereo signal, 2 left and 2 right. IT looks like the unit requires power as well. Personally, I would buy a Navone converter.

She should've had that before marrying you. In all seriousness, I hope it goes well.

Hooking up system with factory radio?
Line out converter or amp/processor with speaker level inputs. Personally, I would use a processor as most all factory units have some sort of processing built-in and most of it is to attenuate the bass as the volume is raised to save the cheap stock speakers from death. How much money do you have to spend?

painting subwoofer basket
If it needs to be re-coned, disassemble and do it the right way.

IA 187, hows the midbass?
Pretty much ANY subwoofer on the market can provide what you are looking for. Then again, pretty much ANY subwoofer on the market will work for 99% of all buyers anyways.

Sealed vs. IB and output
True, but then you get someone repeating this in terms of the automotive environment in which case they would be incorrect. There's always something someone misses.
-
Sealed vs. IB and output
Output would be the same in a perfect world; this is not possible to duplicate in the auto environment though. Perhaps a large anechoic chamber with precision testing instruments and meticulous measurements. Everything equal aside from the alignment, which is what we are debating, will lead to a different response, different peaks, and different bandwidths. Granted the sealed enclosure and IB should be similar, but far from it given the application. We have to think about aiming , reflection, cancellation, etc. . . You may consider this semantics, but it's most relevant due to the nature of the environment.
