  1. Sounds like a helluva nice engine Being a huge Ford fan, I love this, but in this day and age, any manufacturer should easily be able to handle a similar feat.
  2. Far too over due.
  3. I don't think it would work for them. They need the air flowing over the car for down force. F1 is all about controlling down force. That's what gives them the control they have. If you're stalling the air, you are decreasing the down force which will help top speed, but when you go to take a turn at 150mph, you are dead meat. Damnit, I was just about to type that ! Do you guys remember, there was a thing that added a lot of down force to F1, but was banned. I can't remember where I watched it, Discovery maybe. It was placed under the car by one of the teams and they won many times in a row. They didn't want to share the secret so it was banned. But trains and planes definitely should dimples... The double diffuser. This idea has been banned and re=instated several times in F1. Their rules are so well written, but damn their engineers are so smart they find so many ways around them. Adrian Newey is THE king of F1 designers. While others use computers and wind tunnels, this guy draws everything out on paper what he envisions in his head, and Red Bull has been the class act with regards to down force the past couple years. Hell, if they had Alonso and Hamilton, and Mercedes power, they'd never lose a race.

If you're stalling the air, you are decreasing the down force which will help top speed, but when you go to take a turn at 150mph, you are dead meat. You'd just need to change the "wings" then. Obviously a lot more to it, but if you can cut the wind better you'd gain a lot of speed adding downforce is easy in comparison. The efficiency gains if real would definitely pay off. Again a guess, but I can't imagine it not being the case. But the dimples don't cut through the air, they stall the air over it removing the drag. I'm no engineer, but I am an avid fan of F1 and all their technology and money goes into decreasing weight, and controlling downforce. This past season, McLaren came out with what they called and F-duct and it is the same principle. They used a small duct to control the air over the wing. It stalled the air on the staights to decrease drag and downforce on the rear wing. SO much of their body work is to control how the air hits the wing. They are directing it. Stalling the air over the body would negate that ability. Hell, maybe they could do it just by altering the wings, but I don't think so given as much attention they spend to controlling it now. I think in their case, it is a need.
  5. PMs for the drama.
  6. The problem with Ford's is their mounting arrangement. The stupid clips make the openings non-standard so it will take a little trimming here and there.

  8. This has been common knowledge for quite some time. I can understand why it has not been done on commuter cars as I don't think it would be too attractive and not many people would like it, but on semis, trains, and plains, this could save so much energy it's ridiculous. The ONLY negative I see is repairs. It would be almost impossible to match a curved surface without replacing an entire panel.
  9. That is fucked up right there. Hope all is well.
  10. I'd suggest upgrading your other speakers first. I know the most satisfaction teenagers get is the instant bass, but it also causes the most trouble. Trust me, you'll be much happier getting some speakers that can more properly reproduce the rest of the spectrum than you will with a subwoofer. Of course you may already have that and my assumption may be off base.
  11. Just because. . . . .
  12. People are so stupid.
  13. Damn, was hoping you'd be closer.
  14. Sean, we need an mp3 of the exhaust.
  15. Yeah, I had to make one just for the spam from CL, so there it is.
  16. Nice Car! I like the 3.8's, great reliable engine. Looks like it is in fantastic shape! I wish I had the extra cash.... Actually, it's not the original engine. I bought it with the good 'ole Series II intake leak. The guy hydro-locked it, and I pulled the engine, installed a 2002 replacement engine and ended up doing a complete overhaul, so it basically has a fresh engine. The paint needs some work though. Somebody either jumped across the roof, or dragged something across it, and then a cart ran down the DS and dented the gas filler door. I can buff everything out, but no time or warm place to do it at, so it goes like it is. It's super-clean though. One-owner old man car.
  17. http://southbend.craigslist.org/cto/2069965681.html So I post the Buick up on Craigslist and of course people don't read the fucking listing and they all want to buy the car for $5. Dumb fucking people.
  18. I can't say I am a fan, but I love that engine. Everytime Clarkson tests one on Top Gear, the receiver gets cranked. It's an absolute symphony.
  19. Didn't see that one coming.
  20. Where at in MI?
  21. Tourney or did you have to bowl-off?
  22. When they were blowing on it? Biology 101 We inhale Oxygen and Exhale Carbon Dioxide. You're joking right? If they blow from that kind of distance it will get more oxygen then Carbon dioxide. Nobody was smart enough to pop the hood and disconnect power wires? and then put water on it? He's gotcha there Tirefryr Not actually, considering the guy is right on top of the thing. Maybe if he was fanning it, but either way, it's a moot point.
  23. That would be ultra stupid. Pun intended.
  24. GOOD LUCK!
  25. Are you having any issues with the copper clad cable or are you just wanting to change because some people think it's "better?"
