  1. Thank you for the comments guys. Yes, I need to find a way to build a good mold. Masking tape on the mdf mold is a pain, the piece needs sanding and bondo to get it perfectly smooth. Get some scraps of UHMW. You don't need any release agent or cleanup.
  2. You should see him in a Mustang. I should've snapped a picture.
  3. Isn't your company HQed in Germany? Tell them to import one for you.
  4. In all honesty, I'm only going for fun to drive comfort/asthetics and endless right foot joy. Real life I probably would not even throw it hard around corners very often. I just need a giggle machine to get this bug out of my system. With the power they have and torque curve so broad and so soon, you really don't get a feeling of just how heavy they are. When you throw it around a corner at speed, that's when you start to feel it. Or course that can easily be corrected with your right foot. The 2010 is nice, 2011 is even better. I'm trying to keep this to 25k. Also want to make up my mind before summer. I don't care if the vehicle is 15-20 and I put the rest back in performance parts either. That would be ideal actually, then insurance wouldn't have to know it's got 450 HP. "yep just a regular GT" Check the classifieds at www.corral.net You can find pretty much anything you want there from stock to built, and find some great deals from guys who really care about these cars.

  6. S197's are more narrow than 4th Gen?? For me, it really comes down to the fact I HATE the interior and not so fond of the exterior of the 4th Gen. 4th gen is '71-'73. The new cars are wider than the SN95s (94-04), but not as roomy. 2010+ have better interiors that the '05-'09, but they still are less roomy in comparison.
  7. The awesome thing about the GT500 is you can spend a mere $6K extra and it'll be throwing out 750-800HP all day long. Won't be able to plant it to the ground, but hey, at least you have a big dick.
  8. ABout $30K too cheap and the mileage, well, some drive them, some don't. think it's a salvage title? Even with the salvage or rebuilt title, I've seen them go for no less than $30K. Funny thing is, the phone number they list is a fax number.
  9. That was a jump No shit right? What I do know is if I get a ford, I know a guy who will help me work on them. I also would have options if I fucked the engine. I really only want a fun toy now. If I don't like the look one day, there are parts to fix it. If I need more powa in a ford... it's cheep to upgrade. I haven't sat in anything Japanese that I liked since the late 90's. I'm a bit depressed, I've been looking for a toy for 3 years now. If I don't get a car I'll spend it somewhere else probably even more worthless like another motorcycle or a boat. I started looking at new 997's. What I've come to terms with is a 500-550hp mustang will do 0-60 in 3.9 or so which puts it right up there with a 997 GT3. It would be less in insurance, I bet the ford has cup holders insurance will be less too I bet. The S197s are pigs though. My car is 400lbs lighter than my father's '08 and it's not as wide, but there is more room in the interior.

  11. Looks great! You need to invest in some tooling plastic for the molds and get some equipment for gel coating.
  12. There's a guy on ModularFords.com that had just a tune and a removed or modified air box and ran 12.70s. Check this out: 2010 Taurus SHO - ModularFords.com If it is easily removable for service and they had a suspension package I'd be more excited. Definitely curious to see how it drives. Going to ask on lease payments as well. Probably going to lease for exactly what an 07 M5 will. Then all it would buy me is cheaper insurance and gas of which neither I pay for... Ask them about X-plan pricing. Shit though, even for another hundred or two, I'd have to go with the M.

  14. sad yet exciting day. You get a new ride picked out? Sort of. Not exactly as there is nothing at my price point right now, but I am not so worried. I gave you something in your price range, but it's not German, so you won't buy it.
  15. The PI cars (99-04) weren't too shabby, but Ford always seems to underpower everything in comparison to the competition. With a little bit of work and some boost, they can make gobs of power. there are many Lightnings making over 900+ with the stock heads (ported of course), and now the new Trick Flow heads are out, so I'm sure we're going to see some crazy numbers soon. I'm hoping to be above 600RW next summer. I'm going to up the boost and throw some cams in it this year, so I should be above 450.
  16. An engine will run fine with no back pressure, not saying it's optimal, but they don't NEED it. If your state has emissions testing you'll never pass though. I'm not condoning straight pipes or anything but if you cut your exhaust off it will still run. The computer can compensate for changes. H pipes and X pipes really won't do much except for change the tone and an argument can be made they help with exhaust flow on lower horsepower engines. The difference on the average car would likely be under 10rwhp/tq in most any case, then again there's a lot of variables. If US Cafe standards weren't so strict we'd have 50+mpg diesels all over like Europe. The internal combustion engine has come a long way, but can still be improved upon. I personally think the government should get out of the business of telling companies what and what not to do and requiring average fuel economies and let the market dictate what's produced, but that's a different discussion. What kind of car do you have and what type of racing do you do? Sorry, when I speak, I am always talking about the optimum unless specified. My current car is a 2000 Mustang, but it has yet to be raced, by me at least. I have both drag and road racing experience in the past. Of course, having a child, play time goes by the wayside now. The car will go down the strip this year though, and hopefully I can get on track at IRP and the Tire Rack this year.
  17. no texans there, just the side of the family that never came to the states. My grandma came over to the states following WW2 i believe. Nobody else from her family has moved to the states. I wonder how many relatives i have over there... Did realize you were Japanese Whoa, Tmax is Japanese? Did not realize that. You find it a surprise but I've been in school with the guy since 1st grade and I had no idea he had any Asian in him until the 10th grade He's really a mut... One of my friends is half Korean, half Irish. He looks 100% Korean, but his brother looks 100% Irish down to the pale skin and red hair. You look at their family photos, and you'd think they were adopted. Funny thing is, his mother doesn't look Korean, but she's pure, and his father's a stereo-typical fat Irish drunk guy. Kinda reminds me of Peter Griffin.
  18. Modern computer controlled cars DO need back pressure. This is mainly for the pollutions controls. X-pipes are NOT to create backpressure; any type of midpipe is there to help equalize exhaust gases. There are far too many variables to say one is best or worst for all, but most modern exhaust systems are designed quite efficiently for their intended purpose. The efficiency problems usually lie within the engine design itself. Manufacturers have to compromise somewhere. You know damn well, if they wanted to make 50mpg engines, they could. How cheaply they could be made is the issue, along with all political BS. My car is pretty loud, and personally, due to it's nature, I wouldn't bother putting much of a system in it. I may throw a small sub in there just for the hell of it, but I'm definitely not going to add any extra weight to it with deadening, nor am I going to change the exhaust. Again, it's a compromise. Hell even if my exhaust wasn't loud, the supercharger whine is more than enough to make a "system" a moot point.
  19. Damn, some people never learn. . . .
  20. The first time I got into the boost in my GT it scared the shit out of me. I'd never driven a boosted car before, aside from my 2.3Ts, and I was looking for instant acceleration and it didn't happen. Once I got the revs up though and the boost came on, it got pretty hairy so I let off. You quickly become accustomed to speed though and find yourself looking for more. I heard that the turbo'ed 2.3's are nifty. Any power figures for them ? Mine were all stock, but I've seen them anywhere from that to upwards of 800+. A long time ago, Roush actually had one they raced that they partnered with Ford on and made a 4V head. I love that little engine.
  21. Congrats!
  22. Sorry for your loss.

  25. You got raped. And plug wires are part of a tune up.
