  1. They don't use the same motor. They use the same motor topology (XBL^2), but the motors are different. The motor and all moving parts, along with enclosure will be the determining factor for efficiency, not just the motor.
  2. Actually he doesn't go to China for several more days. I'll look through all my past newsletters, but I don't recall any mention of enclosure specs for the BMs.
  3. I don't think there will be any new info until Nick gets back. Sorry guys. I haven't heard anything on the BMs lately either as we've been pushing the Mag ahead of the BM. ***EDIT*** There is a thread stickied at the top of the main forum page here with all current BM information.
  4. Dazz Band, Greatest Hits. Highest quality possible.
  5. I don't know how anyone can convince you other than based on SI's reputation with previous products. The new driver is not out yet, so nobody has experience with it or can do comparisons.
  6. Fixed it for ya.
  7. After, you can rest assured all enclosure recommendations are net volumes. And for clarification, all Mags will be Dual 2 ohm only and 12"D.
  8. I'd sell the drivers to you Jim, without passive Xovers. ...if we made them. Hell, I'll sell hime some with custom SI logos. Guaranteed the only set in existence, and the last to ever be made.
  9. <------ Needs more time to do nothing.
  10. I'm sick of being sick.
  11. Just what the name states. The components are mounted through a hole, then soldered to the traces, whereas surface-mount is what it's name implies. Clif Designs is an Audiobahn product, so take what you want from that.
  12. Ready for summer.
  13. It's been stated several times, and 1K will be no problem. For the few of you who are wanting 15s, multiply that number tenfold and that is the number of people who buy 12s. You can easily see the business decision here.
  14. People are going to be very surprised with this new driver, and not just at it's performance.
  15. Damn me. I was bragging last night how I was the only person I know around here who hasn't had the flu yet, and today I just start feeling like shit and have the shits. I thought my gallon of water and gallon of grape juice a day was working, but apparently not so. Well, it's been working for several months.
  16. I think you're insane. I don't see how the low end could have improved. The latest generation is already a bottom octaves monster, so this is going to be absurd. In a good way of course.
  17. Drywall and insulation on the same day sucks. So does scratching your eyeball and cutting your eyelid on a cardboard box. . . Don't ask, cuz I don't know.
  18. But then we run into more problems. We just brought on Hybrid, and those new guys that joined certainly are not NooBs.
  19. Stupid dial-up.
  20. I'm not a fan of the rat rods, but I love to see the ingenuity. Seeing people transfrom trash into art is great. I'm not too keen on flash and bling either, but I don't like the opposite end of the spectrum. The thing about the rat rods is, that most people don't understand the hard work and blood swaet and tears the people pour into the cars to get them that way. They just see another junker, and don't realize the passion.
  21. Neil, here's what Nick is saying: True enthusiasts are the only people who are going to be interested in this. They are the only ones who are going to understand it. WHile measurements are great, they don't mean much when it comes to personal tastes. Blake, don't take our skepticism as bashing. It's not. We're just as skeptical about you as you are about us. You say you can do something others before could not. Or course we're going to question this. It's human nature. If indeed you can do what you say you can, and in a professional manner, your respect will be earned, and rightfully so. Back to the Nick/Neil argument. I have listened to several XBL^2 and other "flat" drivers and some of them I've liked, others not. I don't pay much attention to all the parameters and measurements anymore as my listening preferences seem to change every couple years. When I got into this hobby I was a basshead. Now I'm more of a mid-basshead. YOu can show me measurements that tell me one driver is better than another for my particular application, but I may still like the other driver better. Measurements are a great tool. Without them, drivers would never have changed, but in the end, as Nick has stated, it is all about what makes you happy.
  22. My brother uses a Meguiars top cleaner on his car. I don't know the exact name of it, but it does a great job on his. Actually, any time of interior cleaner should work just as well. As long as it can lift the dirt from the pores it should work fine. Just make sure you don't wax it.
  23. No offense, but the so called "experts" who frequent these forums are VERY well-respected and have earned their reputations. That is the sole reason they are where they are today. In fact, there are many more hobbyists who are more scientific with the reviews than even a manufacturer is. It's the people who truly love the hobby whom really divulge themselves within it and the community. THEY are the best people to go to when you want to know the reality. People on these forums are not looking for a general review or comparison. If they were, they'd simply go to the local shop and ask them what they should buy. Really, I commend you on your enthusiasm and willingness to put forth the effort to help our hobby, but with all do respect, who are you to say your reviews are better than anyone else's? We don't know you; we don't know your name; we don't know your site. Welcome to the site, and best of luck with your venture!
