Sean. . . Let's face it man, you are NOT really concerned about sound quality. You want it loud and clear. Simple as that. Sound quality is pretty much non-existent in today's recordings anyways. Sound Quality is term used too loosely, and many people around here are purists, so they will assume when you say "SQ" you mean the most accurate reproduction of the program material. Loudness does not come into play there. Now, with that particular application, there are tons of ways you can go. Do you have any companies you are already interested in? Any concern about the rest of your system? What is your electrical system like? Try to lay out all the information you can and we can help you better.

I'm all for getting stuff cheap, but I'm sick of seeing people bash mainstream stuff because it's mainstream. That's the REAL reason. If we could get W7s, 9500s, and the like for AA, FI, SS, etc. prices, you wouldn't hear one bad thing about them. MTX got their name for a reason. Yes, they have some creative marketing that makes others look at them in a different light, but they make GREAT products. I'd NEVER hesitate to buy anything they make. NEVER had a problem with any of their products either aside from the countless blown Thunder 6000s I went through, but that was user error and I know it. BUT, they took back every driver I brought in with a fried coil, no questions asked. Their amps are bulletproof, save for the lower lines, and they really know their drivers. Their enclosure specs are always Spot-on. Shopping wisely, you can find them quite a bit cheaper than retail as well. Don't be so quick to change your mind just from what others say, but also, don't be so quick to jump on something because everyone says so. If you want to go with MTX, go with MTX. Is there better available cheaper, ALWAYS, but if it's not what you really want, then what's the point?

I like it. I say stick with the 18s. Not a fan of the huge wheels, and it's a lot nicer ride with some sidewall.

You might not even need any bracing. I ALWAYS use it, but it's not always necessary. I myself, would brace that enclosure, but as far as how, it would all depend on driver mounting and how much I felt it needed. Now, if you build 4 sides of it and post some photos, we could better tell you how to approach it properly.

Really depends on the intended application. You can go over all the T/S params and figure out what will work best for your application, then find some drivers and narrow it down from there. If I cannot listen or handle the driver, I will look for others' opinions. Pictures more often than not cannot tell you anything about build quality. You really need to handle the driver to tell how well it's built.

I've had great experiences with both, but if I HAD to pick, I'd go with MMATS. Unbeatable power and efficiency in such a SMALL footprint. Ultra-reliable too.

It will all depend on the enclosure and how it's built to determine how/where/what bracing you will need.

If I had $230 and needed a HU, I'd buy it in a heartbeat. If you ask me, $230 for that is a hell of a deal. I usually see them going for around $300-$350.
