  1. Still would like to know where my 20 post disappeared to.
  2. Trannies are not what I would call fun to take apart. Well rephrase that, put together. A manual, I have no problem with. Autos on the other hand, forget it. I put a shift kit in my buddy's 454 SS last year and I wasn't sure the thing would even work once put back together. It did though.
  3. That and rear-ends ... Done that once, never again!
  4. It's all good. The more the better I guess. I'd like to do some freeair testing on mine with some power, but . . . . Right. . . . Someday I might throw some at it.
  5. Okay, how in the hell did that happen? Make my 7K post and it drops me down 20 posts! Oh well.
  6. Bedtime for me. PEACE!
  7. 7K!!!!!
  8. Now I remember. It was one of the Protos Nick got, or some early drivers. Yes! The FedeX guy pwnt the MAG! I don't see how you would be able to file a claim. Technically there is a problem, but it doesn't seem to be affecting the mechanical workings of the driver itself. I don't know what to tell you on that one. How long have you had it and/or used it before you noticed this?
  9. Well, the beater goes back to the tranny shop tomorrow. SOB been shifting hard as hell on both up and down shifts. It's kinda cool cuz the shock causes massive tire spin, but it's seriously starting to break some stuff. Thank God for warranty work. Put the scanner on it and had 26 different tranny codes. All were related to the TC, and they charged me for a new one. Hmm. . . . Guess I need to learn how to rebuild transmissions now.
  10. If it sounds fine, don't worry about it. If there was a problem with the coil rubbing, you would definately hear it.
  11. Then the hammer is futile at any point, as well as the driver. Get all buffed up and green and go tear down RE, or Adire, or JL, RF, or Kicker, and take whatever you want. Then shrink back down to size and dissappear into the wind. Now THAT'S a freakin plan!
  12. If it makes you guys feel any better, every single "stock" alt I've tested has always done 10-30% more than rated output.
  13. Forget it. That driver is FOCKED! Hammer will not help a bit other than to relieve some frustration.
  14. Don't want to high jack, but do you wanna copy me too fryr? Or start a discussion post in the Auto section. As for your alternator, you may get close enough finding an Infiniti model that will bolt in, my guess is that they would be significantly larger and probably okay and better at idle. Not sure on the rice burners, but Lincolns definetely come with a bigger version than their Ford counterpart. Worth looking into, but I know nothing of the new Infinities. Loved the first Q45's though, just unbelievably expensive to fix. I'll see if I can get a little write-up going with my limited knowledge. As far as the Infinty stuff is concerned, The unit he has now will be the ONLY drop-in replacement, ie no modification necessary. With modification you could in essence make any alt work as long as the regulator functioned just as the stock one. Refulators are weird: they can look the same or have the same terminals, yet be electrically different in the functions. As for the Ford's, since the they have 6 "generations" of alts (1G, 2G, 3G, 4G, 5G,6G) and will have a small and large case for each. The smaller one is generally a lower output. For instance, my Taurus and Cobra use a 3G-130 amp unit, while it's ounterpart is the 3G-95 amp unit. The 95 amper will have a slightly smaller case, something not too distinguishable unless you have them next to each other. If you really want to get confused, have a dabble at Delcos. They have such minor differences that are often impossible to catch without years of experience working on them. I am always grabbing an incorrent end-frame. Ticks me off.
  15. I am teh stoopid on computers.
  16. Nice work. IS that 1/2"?
  17. Stock output is 80 amps. Hitachi. Be careful of Hi-amp models with this brand. Anyone can add a rewound stator and/or rotor, but the other components are the main key in the durability. There are ways around the low output at idle, but they tend to be rather pricey, so most people take the tradeoff.
  18. Night all.
  19. Motherphucker! The good thing about the place I work at is everyone there is oldschool and all about lending a hand and doing the right thing. I have seen my boss so many times not even charge people for things, it's ridiculous. He's actually losing quite a bit of money, but he's just that nice of a guy. We also have a huge parts vendor that will pricematch any part for us, no matter where we find it cheaper. Never had to wait on a thing longer than a day. There are some good shops out there, but they're tough to find.
  20. I'm down, but no XBL^2.
  21. I just lost a load. That was so damn sweet. 10 cylinders is rather yummy to the ears. Those are som helacious skills as well. I would have lost it sliding that biatch around that curve.
