Welcome to the IHoP
BTW, I suggest everyone pick up the December issue of CA&E. They have a great article in there on sensitivity and gain matching. Don't totally go about it the BEST way, but for the subject they're dealing with, it's good info. Well worth the price of the mag.

I just ordered an OBDII scan tool for my I860. Funny thing is, the new issue of CA&E just did an article on it. Snap-On guy actually told me about it a couple weeks ago. How odd.

Order some el-cheapo speakers from PE. They send mounting packs along with all speakers that include the gasket material and screws. It's more of a caulk-like material, but it works well, and spending $.50 per driver plus the $5 shipping really isn't bad.

Anyone subscribe to CA&E?

I wasn't going to say anything else. My opinion doesn't matter as it's not my vehicle. Just curious.

Well, I'll be damned. They had to throw something in there to mix it up. Well, at least I know what to look for if I ever have to take one off.

Car audio as a source of Visual Rhetoric! Input...
The Thesis is great, but seems a little too common to me. I don't really know what you are after, but I can pretty much relate any serious hobby to a lifestyle, or a lifestyle to a hobby. Now there's something. Look at it from 180 degrees.

Production driver porn
- Welcome to the IHoP
Jim, you may have to push in on the panel a little to get to the clip. Ford hasn't used a screw on crank handle in about 25 years, so yours should have a clip.- My 15" mag install
Post the vid up in the thread titled, "production driver porn."- 15"s
No real way to answer your questions correctly. There are just too many variables. Your power could range anywhere from 600-3000 watts. All depends on the enclosure(s) and output you desire. Numbers again are questinable. Every setup will be different and application dependent. Contact Denim or Electrodynamic. Denim has much experience with the Explorers, and Nick knows quite a bit on them as well. If I remember correctly, there was a winning Explorer running the first Gen Magnums. Can't comment truthfully on the loudness either. To me, 250 watts and 1 cube sealed was loud. Might be different fro you. Knowing the capapbilities of the drivers though, and the fact that you're looking at a pair of 15s, I don't think you'll have any problem in the ouput department.- Welcome to the IHoP

- US Amp Wiring... ohm load
Mouting will not be detrimental to the sound atall unless the driver's moving assembly itself is noisy. Make sure to wire whatever subs are mounted 180 degree to reverse polarity.- OMG!?!?!?!?

- Hello, noob to SI but not to car audio
You'd be surprised how little power you'll need. Take a look at the thread called "production driver porn." You'll see mine with a mere 250 watts in a 1 cubic foot sealed enclosure. IT was loud.- Welcome to the IHoP
My Gateway Laptop has been in for repair since June. Gateway doesn't even repair their own computers. If it's out of warranty, they won't even touch them. I needed a new motherboard and was only NOW able to get one and it's through the company that Gateway buys them from. It's a salty $380 and that is Gateway's price.- Problem With Performance Teknique AMP
Cable is WAY too small. And that wiring is just asking for a fire. I suggest redoing it properly before your troubles increase and not only fry you equipment, but your vehicle. - Welcome to the IHoP
