  1. I feel for you. Have you ever been stuck on a speed bump? I avoid them now. I take them at an angle, its funny I think other people in my neighborhood are finally starting to catch on as why this dark 2 door is driving diagonal I tried that route, still got stuck. Oh well.
  2. I'm using 3/4oz. mat so the ability of it to hold it's place while soaked with resin was something I was worried about. Gravity works against you when glassing vertically or upside down. An easy stretch of the grill cloth provided a solid base in which to apply additional layers without fear of them "falling" or "sliding" out of place leaving a potential hole and more invested time. There's always a reason to my madness. Experience will help you a lot. You will learn what not to do when you make a mistake and plan for that accordingly next time you do work.
  3. And a regular Knack for happening upon deals. I'm sure he's drowning in equipment.
  4. Some miscellaneous stuff.

  6. Until you start taking things apart and realize each screw is a different size. Then you realize they did. Man, do I hate that!
  7. Kuhmo Ectsta Supra 712s. Not my choice. They were on the vehicle when I bought it. Surprised they lasted 4 years, but hey. Got some BFGs or Yokos going on Friday.
  8. And the glassing began tonight. I am having a love/hate relationship with FG. I'm sure you all can relate. The sanding will be even more intensive. Damn. I am beginning to think I should give up on car audio. Anyways was feeling good after sniffing resin for hours. There's four layers of mat there. Will follow with a couple more, pull it out, fill in any gaps, then finish off with cloth and a special interior concoction of my own. No resonances for me. Here's some random ones. Hmm, where might these go? Wanna play? Got ground clearance?
  9. The little buggers can be very potent. I have several magazines with some excessive and some rather simple, but proven power. Meguiars had a NOPI Focus with a 2.3 turbo running 8s. That was killer. I see exactly where you are going with this, and it's going to be more than worthwhile IMO. Might have to get new motor mounts, but that should be it. Plug the new ECM in and you should be good. Other little things here and there, but definately a good idea I think. Ah crap, only bad thing about the 2.3s, they are notorious for blowing the seal on the oil pan which will disintegrate into the pan and clog the oil pump. Make sure you use a rubber gasket and some silicone. Never had a problem after that fix and the 5 that I've had. Clutch is going to be a little tricky as the Turbo cars used a hydraulic clutch compared to the NA2.3s cable setup. If yours already has a 5 speed, I'd just pull the Merkur's T-5 off the bellhousing and transplant it.
  10. It's a 2.3 Not IDENTICAL to the SVO engines, but very similar. All Automatic cars had different turbos as well. Believe it or not, they were actually smaller than the 5 speed cars. The SVOs were just a different breed. Slightly ported heads, a different cam, different impellers and turbo specs, but they were all within 20 horse of each other except for the 85 1/2 SVO. That was the grand daddy with the most horse and torque of any of them.
  11. Need more! How about some with some light?
  12. It depends on your system goals really. You could do something as simple as a 2-wa front stage with no rear fill, maybe add a sub, maybe sopme attentuated rear fill. You see what I'm getting at? Take a little time, sit down, come up with a plan and go from there. You can do anything you want to. Don't ever let something stop you from accomplishing your goal.
  13. That Civic is just the Import I like. That guy knows his chit and is not rice. Sweet ride!
  14. Busy peeps in here. Time to glass!
  15. ANd he has just the power for those 3" coils.
  16. If it's fried, I'd assume the wiring is no longer good. There is probably a break somewhere in the wire. Also, check the fuses.
  17. I would NOT hessitate to buy an amp from Adire. Dan has a lock on the technogy isuues. That's one smart cookie. I'm sure you all remember the Adire/Ampman revo from year back. That had the Adire name and was a powerhouse which we all know pretty well today as the RE35.1.
  18. You should easily be able to find a dash kit for this vehicle, or it may have the standard Ford MOCO mounts. If that's the case, it's as simple as transferring them over to your existing stereo and installing it as the factory one was. The Amp should either be a JBL or Sony./ Most of Ford's factory amplifiers were produced by JBL, but there is a rare Sony in there as they are the OEM HU manufacturer for 90 of FOMOCOs' vehicles. You can easily bypass this amp by first finding it, deciphering what wires are what and then jumping them together. The amps use a speaker level input most of the time, but in this case you may have a bus cable which is just a pain in the butt to deal with. It may be easiest to just run new speaker wire or buy an adapter so no cutting/splicing will ever be necessary.
  19. THis day sucks. I wanna cry. Really.
  20. And the amps are monsters. Anyways, Ford never should have put a rear seat in the SN95s anyways. There's not really a lot of room back there for anything other than kids. Hell, you're cramped in the front if you're pushing 6'.
  21. WHIP IT GOOD!
  22. For the fiberglass work, plywood is a much better base. MDF when subjected to a lot of movement will become brittle and break. THe plywood will readily accept any vibration or movement without this worry. It also accepts and grips T-nuts better than MDF which is critical in this install in which I will have MANY hidden fasteners. I have a very tight chassis setup and every little bump, dip, crown, whatever, is absorbed and translated back through the car. This is not a cruiser and you feel EVERYTHING when you drive it. I'm not taking any chances with anything breaking here. Back seats are not needed in this car, so they go bye bye. I had a rear seat delete in there previously that I used to run and this is similar. Actually my in my 95 I had almost this exact same setup albeit with a BA 12.5LF.
  23. They do make diodes that would handle what you need, however, their size would not make them feasible for an application such as this. IMO, this is just a waste of time unless you are competing. As for the Navigator, be aware of that voltage guage as many of Ford Motor COmpany's guages are slightly off. Put a meter on it to see where you're really running. THe voltage regulator should NOT be putting out anymore than 15.1 volts. If it is, you have a problem.
  24. It won't send any with the vehicle running. lies I don't lie, I'm intelligent. The battery is nothing but another load on the alt once the vehicle is running. If your electrical system is drawing juice from the battery while running, your alt is failing.
  25. It won't send any with the vehicle running.
