  11. M R Ducks. What a change, my other three posts of the day have been almost an entire page themselves. On another note, I am beginning to get really sick of the weather here. 70 degrees one day and 30 the next is just killing me. I need to get on some vitamins as I fear my immune system can no longer keep up. Either that or better yet, make a diet change. The woman is nagging me about picking up her bike. Last thing I want to work on as I have 3 cars to finish before I leave here anyways. Ihop is going strong, yet I see some people are violating the little "agreement." I am not a violator. Well, as far as IHoP is concerned. I am steadily growing sick and tired of being broke. Going from a $50K/year job to $25K/year is not nice. Youngsters take note: When you make money at a young age, DON'T BLOW IT ALL! One day it may vanish and you'll realize the error of your ways. On another note, I am going to be getting laid steadily all day tomorrow. It's going to be nice. THe woman has started stripping again and all these new female "friends" she has are getting to be quite a lovelt BONER, I mean BONUS. I am extremely pleased about this situation. Too bad I'm gonna be leaving. And tell me something. . . . Why is it people can live in s h i t for an extended period of time, yet when they have to sell their home, they feel it's now time to quit being a pig and actually clean the place. WTF??!!! YOu can live with dog $HIT and Piss in your carpet, but the person you want to sell your house to, you want them to not have it there. Okay. I feel for your children. I think I'm done.

  13. From what I can tell you are very budget minded. You will see a lot of bashing on other forums of people running lower end (read cheap) gear, but some smart shopping and research will yield you some excelllent buys for the money. If ebay is your ticket, you can find many mainstream, reliable brands out there for equal or lesser prices than the cheap brands. Don't be afraid to buy used equipment either, as long as it is from a reputable source. There are lots of good deals in our classifieds sections, and other forums as well. Just make sure you do some research on the seller before you buy. With that Kenwood amp, if it still works, why replace it? There's extra money you could have to invest somewhere else. As for amplifiers being the most important part of the system, that's false. INSTALL, INSTALL, INSTALL. Remember that. You'll here it a lot. The install is the foundation in any good system and without it, failure will result. Also, good sound will vary from person to person. Everyone's ear is different. Their are many "boners" on the net about certain companies and many of us here can tell you that what the majority may tell you is best or sounds good, may not be the case for you. I myself am not a stickler on imaging or bass heavy stuff. In fact, I can wholy do without subwoofers at all. However, I desing my particular applications to fit my needs. I can run my midbass drivers down to 30-35Hz with no need for subs at all. You on the other hand my like a nice BOOM with a toned down upper range. DO you have an idea in detail or could you vividly describe what you are looking to get out your system? This is going to sound kinda but what I like to do when I'm designing a system is to sit in the vehicle before I do anything else and try to imagine how I would feel once the install is complete. Kinda like imagining the effects after everything is complete. It helps me to get a good idea of what I want/need to do. I know that kinda vague, but it's all about the desire.
  14. Clipping the phase switch would not cause it to blow unless something were internally wrong in the amp itself. As for a repair, contact Sergey at K&B audio. He can fix pretty much anything unless the board is damaged beyond repair. www.kbaudio.com
  15. Damn, that was long. Maybe I should make some videos.
  16. I am lucky in that my job has provided me with a lot of experience with all types of carpeting. From repairs, to installations, I've gained quite a bit of knowledge. If you are just using regular enclosure carpet that stretches and has no backing, I suggest using a hot glue as an adhesive. It will create a ver strong bond with the wood and you will never have to worry about it coming off without some effort. Cover your large sides first while stretching taught. Make sure you have a friend helping. This will be your most incaluable tool. Start with the bottom back with about an inch overhang. Work your way from the bottom, towardthe front, on to the top, and over the back. Stop with a couple inches left to cover. Trim the small overhang flush with the back. You know, where you first layed the carpet on the bottom. Now, take the remaining couple inches and glue that. Run a small thin bead along the bottom of the backside of the enclosure and press firmly. It's of the utmost importance that this seam be on the very edge almost meeting the carpet on the bottom. Work your way from the middle towards each side glueing only a couple inches at a time. YOu don't want the glue to harden before you've attached the carpet. Once you have this done. Flipe the box over. Fro trimming, just take a SHARP utility knife blade, only the blade, and pull the carpet as you trim the excess off. The key here is to make the blade cut with not much pressure at all. You don't want it to "tear" the carpet, you want it to slice. Now, as you're doing this, make sure you keep the blade level and just skimming the carpet on the bottom. IF done correctly, you will actually be shaving a miniscule amount off the bottom carpet. As for the sides, you can very well do folds, but it is easiest to just trim them flush and use one large piece to cover each side. Start at the bottom of the enlcosure and run a bead of glue just like you did on the large sides. ONce again, it is important to get it as close to the edge of the wood as possible. Make sure to not glob the glue on either. Now, working your way up stretch and clue. It's best to have overhang on each side and trim as I have noted above. I have found this the best way to carpet. Now, If you are using carpet with a backing, it's a whole different ballgame as the capret had a "grain" or "weave" pattern that will determine how you lay the carpet. For an example of this, go into any room in your house that has carpeting and lay down a small square of paper, or better yet, a nice crisp dollar bill and take a pen and roll it on top of the paper or bill. You will find that this will move the object across the carpet in a certain direction. When you have carpet like this, you want all the sides to move the object in the same direction, otherwise it will stick out like a sore thumb. MAny people will just use a spray glue or contact cement for their enclosures, but I have experienced best bonds and convenience in application with hot glue. That's what we use to bond carpet in the carpet industry.

  24. ON a side note, got a little something done to the cutty today. Needed some rust repair yet I don't feel like fabbing metal up so I FGed a couple holes in the trunk. Should do for the time being. Also got my alt hooked up and the old steering coumn out. Gonna finish that up tonight. Alarm work starts on the weekend.
