  1. I believe you on that one and I hard good things about Arc Audio, Zapco, Rockford Fosgate, Helix, Brax and others but I do know Helix Blue amps are way cheaper than JL Audio HD amps.
  2. JL Audio is big here but if I do upgrade on the amp would Rockford Fosgate work or not? I am also looking at Arc Audio and Zapco [entry level amps].
  3. When would you get a pink one Scott?
  4. The shops over here are trying to sell me the famous JL Audio subwoofers claiming that they are the best subwoofers out there then it is Memphis and Kicker after that.
  5. I have an Eclipse cd5030 cd player so it has an adjustable EQ.
  6. I get a lot of bad information about that the Fi Audio sub would drown my front stage if I go ported plus they told me that the Morels would not sound great with the Fi Audio sub.
  7. I have a 2006 Kia Spectra sx sedan and therefore I would like to go sealed because I am running a Morel Hybrid Ovation II 6 two way set up front with no rears plus ported enclosure is a turn off for me because I listen to all types of music including music from Israel and Arabic speaking nations.
  8. Would it truly make a noticeable difference if I went from 240 watts to 600 watts rms on the sub in a sealed enclosure?
  9. Thank you. I was told by several shops here that since it is 750 watts rms I must use a JL Audio HD 750/1 since it can do 750 watts at 1.5 ohm to 4 ohm. That is the whole reasoning about the rms power question that I posted on here.
  10. I was under the impression that you have to give it the max rms power to make it sound good.
  11. Well there is a guy who is selling a D3 600.1 Diamond Audio amp that does 600 x 1 @ 1 ohm but the thing is he closed down shop and he is selling all the Diamond Audio amps for less than retail. The Diamond Audio amp that he wants to sell me is $100 so I am debating on that since I am also looking into an Arc Audio or Zapco amp to.
  12. I am truly worried about this since I am eager to get a X10 or X12 and it has to deal with power issues. I have an Arc Audio XXD 2080 and it des 240 x 1 @ 4 ohms when bridged. I truly have been wanting to get a Fi Audio sub since three years ago but would like to know would the amp and the X10 or X12 would work together hand in hand or would it be a total flop?

  14. 1 cu ft period. Boston Acoustics G1 12 TREO TE 10 [stolen] Incriminator Audio I 10 [ ex sold it to a pawn shop]. JL Audio 12W6 [loved it but was force to sell it].
  15. I have a 2006 KIA SPECTRA SX sedan. I have HAT Unity U-61 powered by an Arc Audio KS 300.2 amp I have a TREO RSX 1600 amp who is subless. TREO RSX 1600 312 x 1 @ 2 ohm 600 x 1 @ 1 ohm I am looking for a subwoofer that can handle Jazz music? I am not sure which subwoofer to go with that amp. I am not sure if I should do Fi Audio, Incriminator Audio SSA, Boston Acoustics, Image Dynamics or Arc Audio. I am looking for something for under $200 because of financial reasons. I am not sure if I woudl do sealed or ported plus I am not sure if I should go 10 or 12. Thank you.
  16. Actually according to the manuals on my Arc Audio amp the two amps that are for my mids and highs are class G/H. So is the sub amp to which is wierd to. Thanks for equations. That doesn't account for amplifier efficiency. At a low impedance or with a class A/B design, efficiency may drop to as low as 55-60% at full power output. 1000/.6 = 1667 1667/14.4 = 116A That's a significant difference in amperage draw.
  17. Well this ride had three ORION HP 10s receiving 500 watts rms
  18. I am in Orlando and there is a shop that my friend owns and runs and it is called Audio Excellence. Anyways when I was there the other week they had a customer's car and it was an old classic sedan. Anyways it had three 10s sealed and there was a port on the rear deck. When I asked them about it they told me that it eliminates the rattle in the trunk and fires the bass into the cabin. Has anyone know what is the true nature of doing this besides tearing up the rear deck. Thank you Ebrahim
  19. Well here is the thing when I spoke to Gary Biggs [via email] he mentioned that his system is 5000 watts plus his got the three way up front, rear fill thing going on plus those two fifteens behind the front seats. He also has the JBL MS-8 and it takes up 15 amps of current. Mark Eldridge has his JL system around the same wattage. I remember McIntosh [Mcintosh car audio] and Speaker Works in CA did a SQ system back in the 90s that was under 1000 watts and it won best of show. If I remember it was between 95 - 2000. Anyways back on point and that is the only reason why I did the extra battery was that my headlights was dimming and still do when I installed the Odyssey PCJ 1200 up front and the Kinetik KHC 600 in the rear next to the amps and my headlights dim now and then. DC Power Engineering is coming out with a better alternator for my ride in February and it is like the second week. Kyle from there told me it would cost me $75 and I am happy with that. Well let me run and thank you for your help. Ebrahim That's only 820W. The standard alternator will handle it fine. The ohms only change wattage to the speakers. The DCON's do thrive in small enclosures. And rears are really user applicable much of the sq gang are broken up into hating rears because of cancellation, or loving them because they add that back reflection that you get when listening to concerts. So for true sound quality no wattage isn't necessary just enough to reproduce the sound accurately and mix well with the rest of the frequencies. But most of the time sq can get quite loud and we'll need the extra battery/alternator. No problem just trying to extend some of my knowledge gleaned from others. Any more questions, concerns, I'll gladly try to help with. -Nathan
  20. Nathan Actually the friend is a guy that works at a custom shop and is not really a friend but someone I was referred to. To be honest I have three amps and they all running at 4 ohm and I would like to keep it that way although I got a strong feeling that my friend Frank wants me to get a Diamond Audio sub that are dual voice coils. Back on point and that is I am not looking for a system that is over 1000 watts because I did have it once and when I went full tilt I could not hear the sirens and horns from emergency vehicles though. Now I doing 180 x 2 to my Morel Dotech Ovation 6 two way sets up front. 80 X 2 to my rears although a former IASCA judge and Zapco dealer here told me rears are a waste. Probably 300 x 1 to my sub. I am still debating whether I wanna keep the rears or not but if push comes to shove then I would take them out and either keep them or sell them. I am keen on getting the DCON 10 or 12 single 4 ohm voice coil and yes sealed due to the fact that I have space issues. Thank you.
  21. Correct and to be honest when I called the guy today it was Morel's top of the line 3 way on the board. It must have been passive then, just for clarification.
  22. By the way I sold the Seleniums just to let you know for $50 cash to some guy here in Orlando.
  23. Actually I heard the 3 way on the board and it was powered by a 4 channel Arc Audio amp and so was the 2 way. I might even run the two way I have now on a 4 channel amp and see if that is what I like. What you are looking for has less to do with the number of speakers and more to do with the installation and tuning, and some to do with speaker selection and personal preference. Short story is that it's entire possibly for you to have worse results with an active 3-way using those Seleniums than sticking with the Morel's you have now. You're drawing an illogical conclusion that because you liked the Morel 3-way better than the 2-way in the particular scenario in which you listened to them, that any 3-way will be better than a 2-way......there's far more to it, it's not that simplistic. Regardless, even if you wanted to move to a 3-way that Selenium is still not the way to go about doing it.
  24. Yeah I am thinking of doing the components on a 4 channel amp like the Arc Audio amp that does 75 x 4 not sure of the model number off hand. Also a friend of mine told I could go the Zapco route with their DC series. He told me to take the tweeters out of the door and throw it on the a pillars and just keep the mid in the door or could go kickpanel on that one. Now with that being said is their anyway you can easily replace speakers once they are installed in the kickpanel and a pillars? Thank you
  25. Dude I can build stuff that is not a problem. Imaging is since I do not like to have big speakers or speakers with a big magnet on the a pillar. Tweeters are okay on the a pillar. Yes $500 for both kickpanels though to. In true honesty the reason why I am jumping on the three way wagon is that I heard the Morel two way and their three way components with rock music and the three way brings the guitar to life where the two way does not. Also in my research a lot of people at the competitions use three way setup front and sub in the trunk when they do not have rear speakers. Then again they tuned their system to the IASCA cd which I have a copy of and to be honest was not a big fan of most of their tracks though. If you're wanting help from the people on this forum, you should start listening to the questions they're asking. Once you do this you will receive allot of useful help, not just a bunch random information, like what speakers I like or somebody else likes. This guy you know at this shop is charging you $500 for what exactly, 2 kick panels? Are you mechanically inclined, at all, if you are you can do a little research, ask some informed questions and have some custom enclosures that you built and can be proud of. Do you own basic power tools, Jig saw, drill, circular saw, if you do these aren't that hard to construct. I think you'll be surprised if you try it for yourself. I wouldn't pay for this, but that's me. I can't imagine how well built they will be or how well they will sound if it only is going to take a day to build. I spent very little time on aiming and placement on 2 speakers and I've got a couple of weeks ( 2-3 hours a day) listening to find what I thought sound good to me. I'm not trying to be an ass, I just think you'll have better results if you take a little time to learn how too do the things you're interested in and you'll save allot of $$$$ in the process. Good luck!
