Yup same problem I had. The foam has rotted and the speaker is playin free air right now and it's over excurding muddying voices and stuff. Or at least that was my problem

The stock are 4 ohm I believe so it should all work out. Could you explain a little more of this cracking sound?

Easy easy job. I can take my door panels off and put them back on in 2 min. I replaced the woofers and left the tweets, but the soundstage was too low so I replaced them with tweets on the a pillar. The stock speakers have bad foam rot problems.

Im thinking of wallin my truck (2000 gmc Sierra ext cab) and dropping another death penalty in there. But I have some questions. What is the best side for the body or dead center? Also would the area around it have to be completely sealed or can there be gaps along the sides behind a beauty panel? Do I double the port area? And will this affect sound quality?

Come on now guys, I wouldn't be selling customers stuff like that. I would just toy around with speaker parts and building them until I get through college then I would start selling the subs that are proven to work well for certain things and enclosures and power handling. I wouldn't toss in parts then sell as a "super woofer". I would acquire my knowledge from the classes then put them together with my experience and hopefully do well enough to start my own business. Also I know how to run a business because my dad runs his and has taught me all the tips and tricks

I have a 21inch sub in my ext cab and it sounds damn good. Only thing is roof rattle when it's up loud.
