  1. I can fantasize can't I? :whipitgood:
  2. So I'll see you at MECA Finals then, right denim? Update: No more grill cloth on a-pillars. Gave it a shot today and the curves around the base of the dash towards the door make it near impossible for me to get it looking like I want it too. Tweeters just flushed up there doesn't look bad at all though, so it'll be fine.
  3. Looks awesome man. The attention to detail really shows. You couldn't pay me enough to deal with vinyling all that. Awesome work.
  4. Bah! People drove 10-12 hours for the MidSouth Meet. You guys ought to make it out to MECA Finals if you're interested in seeing and hearing some really nice cars, as well as seeing some loud ones, and meeting a few faces from the boards. Should be second weekend in November. I remember the year I went and competed, two girls came down from NY to compete in SPL, and the DC area isn't "too" far away either.
  5. SI is in Mooresville Any chance it was a black two door Honda Del Sol, with blue graphics on the side? If so thats Nick Lemon's car, the man running the show over at SI.
  6. Thanks guys. I'm trying to pick my brain and remember where you are located, but can't. denim and strong, where are you guys? Maybe we'll run into each other at a show somewhere. dB Drag Finals is in Nashville just a few minutes from me and MECA Finals is in Louisville just a few hours north. I'll be at both of them just hanging out and catching up with old friends. You guys really ought to come out.
  7. The Kodas in my daily driver are running full range, no crossover on the bottom end at all, and they do just fine. Granted I'm only feeding them 65wpc though, so not alot of room to do much harm. In general I prefer my sub/midbass transition to be around 50 Hz and as high as 60 Hz, but not much higher than that (63 Hz as Nick has is about my limit). I dont like getting into the 70+ range but I try to design and tune my systems to have a good amount of midbass so that the sub doesn't have to run that high and help out.
  8. Oh yeah, a pair of the SI8s in the Neon, that would be muey pimp But I've got two cubes, so I might as well go with four of them Definantly want to get my hands on one. The one sounded incredible in Nick's car. It would have to be a noticable improvement over the Shiva for me to rebuild the baffle of the box (not an easy task the way it is built) for me to make the swap, but the idea is definantly floating around in my head First time I've seen pics of the motor structure. I see what you're talking about with stacking the top plates now Nick. Looks very nice. Can't wait to see them if you put the logo on the dustcap. That would really set it off.
  9. Head Units: No real clear cut winner here. I like my Denon-built RFX8240 best of just about any head unit I've played with in any car save the P9, but the Platinum series are the only RF units I like. Probably Pioneer since they have something for everyone, and their very high end stuff is amazing. Processing: AudioControl. Been in the game a while and are true enthusiasts making a living out of a hobby they love. Amplifiers: Phoenix Gold. My Tantrum amps are amazing, and I've dealt with their old XS line and the Ti line as well. All amazing for the money. Tad @ PG is awesome as well. Great customer service from such a big company. Speakers and Subs: Tied between JL Audio and Adire Audio. For JL, again, great customer service for such a big company. Something for everyone. I love the XR components, the W6 line of subs, and the W7s as well. Their lower line stuff is really nice as well. Adire just builds some amazing products and Dan is probably one of the most knowledgeable guys in audio, period. You cant go wrong when buying Adire. Nick Lemons and Stereo Integrity are also a BIG favorite of mine. Nick is a class act and has some amazing products. The Magnum is up there as one of my favorite subs I've ever heard and their new 8 is a piece of work as well, not to mention those components I heard in Nick's car were VERY sweet too. Just a great company overall.
  10. I'm a lurker overe here. I'll read the board from time to time but never really post. Alot of familiar names around here though. Figured I'd post this over here as well to get some feedback. http://community.webshots.com/album/24687221wpDWUOwhuS All comments are welcome; good, bad, or otherwise. I finally got most of the install done in preparation for the SI.Net Midsouth Meet. Only thing left now is to build a stealth cover for the 8W7, build some underdash padding, and get a dashmat. Most of this stuff was in the car before (front stage, amps), but I swapped the amps around giving my front components 125wpc and knocking the sub down to 300w since the 8W7 didn't need the full 500w and my front stage could use a little headroom. The breakdown: tweeters play down to 6.5kHz, midrange 6.5k-200Hz, midbass 200-50Hz, and sub from 50Hz down at 24 dB/octave. As an overall package, I've never been as pleased with any of my systems as I am with this one. Every single piece does exactly what I need it to. I've never been happier. Can't wait to see what type of improvements I can get with tuning. Haven't even touched the EQX yet. Not a single frequency has been boosted or cut yet. The most impressive part to me was the 8W7 since most of the other equipment I've already played with. I've heard a 12W7 in car, and a 10W7 in a sound room. Neither impressed me. Not the case here. I bought the 8W7 on blind faith with high hopes and it met and exceeded all my expectations by a mile. This thing is a jackhammer. It packs a hell of a punch and it tonally infallible, and I've threw alot of stuff at it. Never misses a beat. I was worried about the low end, but it's a monster down deep too. I'm in awe of this sub. I think it has gained the spot as my favorite sub by just a hair over the Magnum, just because I wasn't expecting this much out of it. Wow. Just wow. So fun watching it move too. Drew quite a crowd at the SI.Net MidSouth Meet when I was playing some tracks to really get it jumping. I'll end the review with a little porn for you bass junkies No mechanical noise, no distortion. The little sucker loved every minute of it. Thanks for any comments and/or suggestions on the car. 8W7 Outward Stroke:
  11. Now you can get rid of that dub7... Good to hear you like it, then we all know it's a performer. Slow down there cowboy. The SI8 is nice, but a single one isn't going to get my DubSebben out of there I dont think. Pretty happy with the whole package in the T/A, but that doesn't mean I cant have fun in the Neon I'm thinking I'll be able to get my hands on an SI8 when they hit. If I can swing it and they impress me, I may swap out the Shiva in the Neon for a pair of SI8s Just gotta decide if I want to deal with the headache of doing a new baffle or not
  12. I had a chance to listen to the SI8 this weekend, and it's a very nice little sub. Very impressed and I think the niche these are going to fit into is one that desperately needs to be filled. A nice powerful 8 that doesn't cost almost two hundred bucks to pick up, and that outperforms most of the high priced 8s on teh market anyways. Good job Nick. Do the four 8s Nick. You know you want to. They're just so cool
  13. Thanks for all the compliments, this looks like an AWESOME board. Oh yeah, the stereo setups, need to tell about them, try to keep that stuff off my webpage because I'm very paranoid about theft.... 99 Trans Am HU: Clarion 835MP (not currently installed, using a Navone LOC right now) Processing: AudioControl EQX Amplifiers: Phoenix Gold Tantrum 500.2 on front stage, 300.2 on sub stage Front Stage: JL Audio XR 653CSi three-ways (tweet in a-pillar, midrange in kick, midbass in door) Sub Stage: Currently JL Audio 10W6, soon JL 10W6v2 Notes: If Nick ever builds a Magnum 10 that can dig nice and deep like the 12 then I'll be grabbing up one of those and getting a set of SI 307s and some SI chosen midbass drivers as well, and probably a PG four channel, or maybe just a set of 507s and a passive three way crossover. :D Nick, you listening??? Help a brotha out, Adire and SI are my two fav companies, would love to have one in one ride, one in another 95 Dodge Neon HU: Pioneer 3500, would like to get a Clarion 835MP for it as well Processing: None, just the HU Amplifiers: Kicker ZX460, 60x2 on front stage, 240x1 on sub Front Stage: Adire Audio Koda 6.1s, mids in doors, tweeters in dash Sub Stage: Adire Audio Shiva in 2.5 cubes ported to 30 Hz Notes: Only HU installed yet, still waiting on getting wiring and deadening to start on this car. Just got it at the end of December.
  14. Hello everyone. Just checking in. Guess I'll be popping in over here every once in a while. Had a Magnum 12 in my Trans Am for quite a while. Have met Nick and he's a great guy with a great product and I hope to one day have his stuff in my car again. Maybe a set of 307s with a SI selected 6.5" midbass along with the sub I wish they'd build, but more on that later. Can check out info about me at http://hometown.aol.com/sqtransam and the links therein. Not alot past that, 2002 MECA TN State SQ Champion and World Finals 2nd place, SQ guy really, but its nice to throw down every once in a while. Anyways, thats about it. I'll end with a letter to one of only two company owners that I have respect for in the industry, and who I think run a great company with a great product.... Dear Nick, BUILD A DAMN 10" MAGNUM #@*&$ Love, Josh
