  1. no not that i tryed everything i could think of. does SSA store cover this? if not they dont have them posted on the SSA store anymore so does that mean i cant buy another one Hove, if you can, take the driver out of your install and hold it up to eye level. Check to see if the surround is unlevel. Snap a picture of it if it is and shoot it to me. Thanks, Mark
  2. A recone is certainly possible. Shoot me an email (to the mach 5 site) with your shipping info. Best, Mark
  3. Yeah, I'm afraid all of the 4 Ohm coils from the original MJ are gone, unless I come across a box stuffed in the corner with one in it. Sorry.
  4. Yeah, go larger if you can.
  5. Well I couldn't find anyone locally who can do a clean cut through my plate so I will have to modify my lathe to cut it. This is probably the biggest thing holding me back at this point. May end up just biting my wallet and eating the few hundred for the parts I need to get this done. Coil is coming along. Currently sourcing out aluminum plate. Its coming....
  6. It will be like nothing you have ever seen in a speaker before! Just thinking about this blows my mind. Now now Sean, don't be saying things like that. You know better. The build will be somewhat 'different', but it still boils down to the same thing - a diaphragm going in and out, moving air. Now that things have settled down a bit, I can work on this. I'm not proficient enough on the lathe to be messing with chunks of steel so big so I'll be taking them to a shop to get cut up. I'll probably take them in tomorrow, then wind the final coil this weekend. We'll see how things come out.
  7. So, are you done yet?
  8. See if you can find some way/method to round over that partition - like using a large piece of doweling cut in half for example. Maybe snag a 6" sonotube and cut that in half. Also look at the inside corners - see if you can find an easy way to round those as well. Maybe look into the small sonotube or even a mailing tube you can glue to the corners and add a bit of bondo to smooth out the edges. In for a penny, in for a pound!
  9. If its the deep lows you are trying to achieve and you have the box volume to do it, go ported.
  10. This is certainly a different setup. I'll be watching the outcome
  11. I'm not sure if you could handle all of the excess DBz the Funky Pup dust caps could produce. I'm not liable for any deaths.
  12. Looks like you have a big hole in the corner of your door you will have to seal EDIT: I watched the last video and laughed out loud
  13. Sounds like an interesting project. Good luck with it.
  14. If it works for you then great.
  15. I might have what you are looking for. Shoot me a PM.
  16. More details please...
  17. That's a lot of work there...
  18. Frankly its not. I took a week off work to get some speaker stuff concluded and well, guess what happened? I will find a bit of time this weekend to work on it however.
  19. If your looking at running that much power why not look into the SPL line from Mach 5? Yeah, it seems like the goal is volume, so a little loss in extension for volume and power handling seems like a good tradeoff. Going by thermal power handling throws up red flags to me.. depending on the box alignment you are most likely gonna hit mech limits before you hit thermal (with music at least). You can model that if you have an idea what way you are going with the box (size and tuning).... If you plan on tuning high and burping with tones or something similar (i.e. definitely running into thermal limits before mech) then an SPL oriented sub makes more sense imho. If you are going for SQ, get the ixl and don't go crazy with the gains. Headroom is a good thing (the amp will be operating at low distortion and not heating up if you aren't pushing it to the limits). It seems no one thinks of this in the car audio world these days, and I'm not sure why.
  20. Maybe he just wants to max everything out?
  21. Good for you. Perhaps Visions will actually sell some car audio now haha.
  22. It is a 6 bolt pattern. Yes. No. Best, Mark
