  1. Sealed, just big enough to enclose the driver is about right. Ported, not much bigger than that. Hahaha! We should call you "Mr. 0.707"
  2. Very kind words there guys. And thanks for the plugs Aaron, despite having your own mandate...
  3. Well, I'm a day late. The mounting diameter is................. what you said You're welcome.
  4. If you can spare the space and add the extra volume, I say go for it. 1 cubic foot won't make or break anything. Do it. m
  5. I should update the site actually. I'll get the measurements for you tomorrow. m
  6. There wasn't really any car audio specific subwoofer that could handle 1000w back then. 1000w amps were over $2-$3 A watt Crankenstein's weren't rated for anything close to what they could handle. I jokingly bought my first pair to see how quick they would die. The fact that they didn't is what enticed me to buy more. The new lines look very similar to a few other companies basket designs. I would be hard pressed to pay anywhere near the msrp they have listed for the new lines now though. Hahaha! I remember selling Alpine 18 watt amps for $149 - now that's power!
  7. I use these for mine - works quite well. http://www.rona.ca/shop/~casters---3-caste...33;casters_shop
  8. I say toss a coin...
  9. Tuning higher will certainly net you increased output. If you can keep it as close to your original box size as possible that would be a plus. 36-38Hz would be just fine. Best, Mark
  10. I created a small forum for folks to post up their project builds so that others can get some ideas from. This is where I will be placing all of my builds, testing, etc. Feel free to contribute! http://www.mach5audio.com/projects
  11. The amp he owns is no longer available so there is no need to be concerned.
  12. *cough* *cough* SHIPPING *cough*
  13. Few weeks at best as I'm still running tests on it. m
  14. Funny you should mention PR's... I just updated the website with some PR info. Pricing will be decent as always and I can custom tune it for you if you wish. m
  15. That info is being withheld to protect the innocent.
  16. I suppose. First time I've seen anything like this...
  17. All very interesting stuff. I find the winding height of the coil to be rather long for a under-hung design though. Unless it isn't/wasn't an under-hung design in the first place.
  18. With everything being the same, chances are you will not notice an increase. You would however notice bass output to be slightly "heavier" with the IXL. Putting this into perspective: - MJ-18 is slightly more efficient than the IXL; +1 for MJ - IXL will exhibit a higher amplitude in its frequency response since you are placing it in a box that is smaller than it should be; +1 for IXL - If you like a nice, more refined bass; +1 for MJ - If you like heavy-hitting more profound bass; +1 for IXL Hope this helps you. m
  19. Yes, they do. m
  20. I'd rather not say, as my loose fingers tend to get me into trouble from time to time Since this is the first time I've seen something like this, a couple of folks over at ca.com provided some insight into what could have possibly happened. I'll be looking closer at this to see if I can figure it out..
  21. Yup, prime example of a very low budget "high power" amp and lack of system calibration. Needless to say he is looking to get a better amp to drive a single SPL-15. m
  22. A client swung by to drop off his IXL-10's to figure out what went wrong... Needless to say, he will be getting an SPL-15 and looking for an amp that delivers solid output.
