will this box be big enough?
Awfully elitist don't you think? Nobody EVER "does it right" on their first try. He's not dumb. Just eager and uneducated like we all started. true. i want to start the build for the solo x's this week. im going to get a sheet mdf tomorrow. and hopefully one sheet will do the whole job.

will this box be big enough?
my failure???? and i meant jay-C76 Hell Lantz, my bad, I thought you weren't gonna do this box build. I'll send ya the design before the weekend. Get Google SketchUp (it's free) so you can view the design. side note- cut Lantz a little slack guys. He's new to the game (compared to most of us) and is trying to "bass on a budget". He may ask some questions that to us may seem dumb. He's trying to learn, (the hard way sometimes) but all in all at least he asks question instead of assuming. thanks jay-c. i appreciate it. iv only been in the whole audio game for just over 2 years now. its my favorite hobby haha

i stopped by a local pawn shop and they have a kinetik 2400 for 150. they said i can take it to autozone and have them check it out before i give them the money. is this a good deal????? the outside looks flawless with very minimal scratches and dings

will this box be big enough?
well yesterday i took all of my max dimensions and came up with 7.1cf. and thats before port and sub displacement.... so i have a few questions about this.... 1. will this box (after sub and port displacement) be big enough (doing 1 big single chamber) & 2. what would be a good port width to go with? jaycee said tuning them @34hz would be a good start but im not sure on how wide to make the port. any thoughts???? 3. i was told that in a truck, having the subs and port both up gets the best results. is this true? im using 2 10" kicker solo x's

solo x 10 installed finally!
ya. there was something wrong with the zr340 i was using when i showed my system to alanh and jay-cee. i hooked up the other one i had in place of the origional one i had and its about twice as loud as it was. for 1 10, its damn impressive

electrical problems big time
Umm, no you haven't. Not even close. This is true, there's no way to draw 135 amps from an alt that only makes 95 amps max. the amp was fused at 150 so either way you look at it, i was drawing more than the alternator was intended to......... that was the point i was trying to make here. i just picked up a new alternator from a 2005 f350. it mounts up perfect. the new alternator is 130 amp. better than my 95 amp lol
-
electrical problems big time
ya. shoot, id pay 30-40bux for another 35amps. that way, the new alternator i get will last me until i can afford a 220.

electrical problems big time
lol ok thanks. i wasnt sure if the switch would work. ill go to you pull and pay either today or tomorrow and find one off of a f350 and see how it goes. it will give me another 35ampers to play with so it wont be such a stress on everything. (going from 95amps to 130)

electrical problems big time
i just took the amp that is messed up back to the guy who had it fixed and hes going to look it over for me to see if anything is wrong

electrical problems big time
my volt meter wouldnt work so i used my buddies and hes not home. ill try check it again today. but i know at the battery, with truck on, subs blaring, i was getting 13.3 and that was the lowest it dropped. with just truck on at idel no subs, i was getting 14.0

electrical problems big time
shit with just my a/c on my volt meter on the dash drops hella haha. i VERY rarley use my a/c though. like this summer i used it maybe 3 times. saves gas in my opinion.

electrical problems big time
i had the truck running, turned it up to what i normally listen to music at when im bumping and closed the door. had the hood popped and i stood there for a good 15 seconds and it never dropped below 13.3 13.3 at full listening volume is fine. only thing i didnt check becasue i forgot was when i bump with my headlights on, my dash lights seem to dim a good amout more with them on. they are hid's

electrical problems big time
ya. im surprised my alternator still works at all lol. iv been drawing 135-150 amp from it for the past year and a half and it still puts out a damn good voltage. its a little stock 95amp from 1995 haha. i noticed my buddies 2005 f350 had the same bolt pattern as mine so would it fit? id love to just go get a used alternator off a f350. there 130 amp. compaired to my 95 amp, it would help a lot until i get the cash for a HO

ok i did it. i with truck off, im getting 12.8. with truck on at idle, im getting 13.5-14.0 but sub all the way up. it is only a little 30x2 fused amp....... so your float voltage is 12.8 idle 13.5 -14 what about at full tilt? able to see what you drop to? well i have the amp at between 3/4 and full gain and when the amp startes to draw it only goes down to 13.3 at the lowest i saw.
