  1. ok. as most of u know i have my 1 12" orion hcca in a nice custom ported box. and i love it. BUT my 1 12 doesnt sound like the good ol way 15's sound. and we all know how 15's sound. low and powerful. latley, i have been eyeballing the sundown audio SA 15's. i would do 2 on 1800 watts and possibly build a wall in my ranger for them. i havent completly decided. what do u all think???? should i stick with my 1 12, or go for the 2 15's???? i have a feeling that my 1 12 will be louder but it dont have the hard hitting that 2 15's would. WHAT TO DOOO
  2. Hcca's tend to throw the heat to the basket. I would have this same thing happen to me and get worried but nothing really happened. Just like an mtx 9500 throws the cones heat off to the surround. Theirs some weird subs out there XD I'm still tempted to say it's ambient heat, but I have not done a thermal analysis of either of those woofers. ya idk if this has to do with the same subject, but iv seen video's of the heat sink i believe its called coming out of the sub and through the center cap on the cone. this worries me because the center cap is directally behind my elbow when i drive and if that thing comes flying out, it might hurt lol. I think duran has a point on the heat subject. I would think the only reason the heatsink thing came flying out would be because the glue melted and let the peice go crazy... Too much heat.. ya. i just dont want it to come flying out and hitting the back of my arm. it might hurt a little :/ haha. but usually when it happens, the owner is pushing like 3000 watts. im only pushing 1800
  3. ya. i mean id like to keep it as small as it can be.
  4. it dont really matter. the guy at my local audio shop said i could fit 3 15's without a problem if i really wanted it. so that gives u an idea of the size of the trunk. its only 2 12's
  5. i was going to mount it to the back of the box, or this....... (just a idea but idk if i can do it.) this is a pic of a 1965 mustang with 2 12's.
  6. theres a few
  7. well i finallllyyyy get my mustang back in a few days from doing the T5 transmission swap. i have been slowly but surely getting a system together for it. This system is not meant to get loud and rattle everything apart. i listen to country and rock MOSTLY when i drive. but i rarley listen to the music because i LOVE listening to the sound of the V8 under the hood and duel exhaust anyways, here is what i have so far.... 2 12" kicker CVR's 1 kicker ZR240 (oldschool made in U.S.A amp ) and pioneer speakers all around. now my question is should i get a sealed box for the 12's, or ported? eventually (when the money is there) im switching to either 1 RE audio 12, 1 Fi audio 12, or 1 SSA 12. i want a all made in usa system but for the mean time, im using 2 cvr 12's. so what do u all think? ported or sealed for the 2 12's?

  10. im VERY intrested in this build. i only have 1 hcca and its hella loud. but 3????? :rofl2: i cant wait to see some pics and videos!!!
  11. ya. thats what i was thinking but i didnt know if there was another reason baskets would get hot.
  12. ^^ what he said lol. i currently have 1 12 hcca in a ported box in my truck and the SQ is actually pretty good. and it gets VERY VERY loud. only downfalls, is that thet are VERY VERY heavy, and the LOVE power. but if u have some friends with some muscles, and the power to support these bad boys, ur in luck my friend lol Good luck
  13. hello everyone. today, i have been beating up my sub pretty hard.when i finally got home, i felt the basket of the sub and it was pretty warm. is this a sign that somethings wrong? the only part i felt was where the outside mounting holes are. i wasnt sure if this was a early warning of something going wrong so i thought id throw up a post and ask. here is the specs of the set-up for those wondering if it may have to do with my amp or something.... 1 12" orion hcca in a 2.0CF ported box tuned @ 35Hz 1 MTX 1501D elite series amp all 4 gauge wiring. let me know what u all had in mind!! Thanks
  14. Yea but arn't too efficient XD o ya. by NO means are these efficient. i find that thats there only down fall in my book lol. but once i get my alternator, it should be fine.
  15. idk. it gets plentyy loud lol. i was at a HUGE party saturday night, and some kid with 2 12" rockford p3's was telling how much louder he is than me because i only have 1 12 and he has 2.... so i HAD to do a demo needless to say, he shut his mouth after that lol
  16. orion hcca 12.2 has my vote!!!!
  17. o it will haha. I CANT STAND A MESSY SET-UP!!
  18. thats what i though at first sight. then i hooked it up and it slammsssss. im starting to build a amp rack for my mtx 1501d elite as we speak.(type haha)
  19. if i had the money to buy another amp, box, sub, alternator yes lol
  20. my buddy at Diggers audio in hamilton ohio made the box. and yes, the port is extreamly small. i had my doubt at first but i hooked it up and WOW. he is good.
  21. im pretty sure these subs are built here.... my local audio shop uses these as his personal subs. i heard 2 15's of his in a suv and they wang hard.
  22. ground pounding audio
  23. from which subs? out of all of them? ill be here all night lol. my favorite so far for both SQ and SPL is the cvx believe it or not. the l7's were just really loud and the cvr's werent really all that loud but had great SQ. the fi btl i never had in my truck. i had it in my stepdads dodge van (lol) on a kicker zx1500.1 in a 7.0CF ported box. and it would MOVE some air. haha. rightn now as we speak, my local shop is building a 3.0CF ported box for my orion hcca and i have a feeling its going to be my favorite out of them all. it was in a 1.8CFported pre-fab box and was loud. but with this new box, it should beup there with the 2 12" mtx 9500's. ill let u know sunday lol. i got my box today. and out of all those, its my favorite. it has good SQ and gets REALLY loud. i compair it to the 3 15" kicker L7's i had. its not as looud as all 3 of them, but close. and for 1 12, thats damn good. i made a thread with all the new pic's!!!!
  24. well i FINALLY got my box today for my Orion HCCA 12.2. i paid $175. its 2.5CF tuned to 38 and all walls including the port walls are double thick with mdf. i wish i had a meter to meter it becuase id really like to know. id say its just as loud if not louder than the 2 15" kicker L7's if anyone has ever heard them in person. here are a few pics to get started!! The old box.... \ Now for the new..... O... and i put some new shoes on my ranger.... what u all think?????? The OLD The New 31" tires and 15" rims on stock suspension. no lift or anything. and best of all... NO RUB!!
