  1. ya i was thinking about that as well. but i dont know if there is any room for another alt. to be installed. plue id have to custom fabricate brackets and... idk if it worth all that lol. id be better off just buying a HO alt. i did call around my local area electric shops, and i found a shop that builds alt.'s and for $250 i can get a 200amp HO alt. with a 3 year warrenty. what u all think about that?
  2. i have a 95' ext cab ranger. i had 3 15's in there at once. talk about insane lol. but i took out my jump seats and got another 8 inches total. my box was like 49" long and fitted perfect. the 15's where just too much so i have 1 12" orion hcca on a mtx 1501d amp and its pefect. i do want to see some pics when ur install is complete good luck with it all bro.
  3. i actually thought of that befor. i was selling a 2001 ford expodition with a bad tranny in it and i got to looking at its alternator and it had the same bolt pattern as mine. i though about switching the alternators but was affraid my rangers alt. wouldnt be enough for the 5.4L v8
  4. hello, i was wondering if anyone knows a place where i can have a alternator re-builtfor a good price? its off my 1995 4.0 ford ranger (stock 95amps) im running a MTX 1501D (birthsheet says 1844 watts)amp and 1 12" orion hcca (2000rms/4000peak). the alternator is in perfect working condition right now, but its not enough for my amp. its starving for more power lol any helpp is appreciated!
  5. kicker subs (in my opinion) are mostly for spl. they have a few series of drivers that do sound quite good. from what iv been told and see, the comp vt is not a bad sub for a shallow mount enclosure. in fact, my buddy has a f350 single cab and wanted some cvt's. he was shot on cash so i lended him one of my cvr's in a truck box and it sounds FANTASTIC! im just saying to really find out how a sub performs, you need to hear one in person. too many people are biased on forums. my previous post was what i thought on the subject....
  6. well dang lol. anyone else have a clue??
  7. 2006 im guessing? heres a pic of it....
  8. hello, i have a good question here lol. i have 1 12" orion hcca (the older silver cone style) and was wondering, if it somehow blew, how would i re-cone it? will the new style hcca re-cone kit work? i wanted to e-mail orion but when i went to contact them, alls i got was a bunch of stuff about how i need to sign into this other website..... so i figured id ask incase on of you knew. any info would be appreciated
  9. well your first problem was coming onto the SSA forums and asking about the cvt, or any kicker for a fact. yes, i will agree that the l7's solox's,and comps have no sound quality what so ever. BUT they do get REALLY loud. for some reason, whenever i say the word "kicker" on here, everyone flips and has nothing to say but bad things about them. i have owned every kicker sub (except cvt) and i love the kickers. personilly, the kicker cvr is the best bang for ur buck sub out there. but thats just me. im not dissing SSA or IA or any of them. but give kicker a chance lol. if they are as bad as everyone on here says they are, then why is kicker so popular? 1 out of every 3 systems i see, is kicker. just saying fellas..
  10. dont mean to sound like a noob.... front stage????
  11. ill look into it. there are just a lot of choices for my price range. now the million dollar question is, which sub performs better than the other's in a 1.9 CF ported box and 500 watts??
  12. i have owned many kicker cvr's and I LOVE THEM. im not going to need a recone anyways. like i said i very rarley use the sub to begin with. and when i do, i only have 500 watts for it. im either doing 1 12 or 1 15. im between the IA 187 12, the dcon 12 or the cvr 12
  13. AQ SDC2.0? i want something a little more beefier. im stuck between the IA 187 12, the kicker cvr 12, or the SSA dcon 12
  14. I'd like to get one within the next 2 weeks lol. I seen a vid on YouTube And they are some beast subs. But I don't want to wait till September to bump lol.
  15. What about a incrimator audio 12 or a ss dcon 12? Those brand new are in my price ranger and have good reviews
  16. I'm not sure how much I will be using the system though. Whenever I drive my car, I love to listen to the v8 rumble haha. I seldomly listen to the sterio but when I do, I want a little bass. That's y I don't want to drop to much on a sub.
  17. well heres the situation... i am having a custom box built as we speak for my 12" orion hcca for my truck. after i get that box, i will have a empty 12" ported box, and 1 15" sealed box. im looking for SQ. it a '65 mustang so i dont want vibrations and such. no telling what might come apart... lol im HIGHLY considering the 1 SA 12 or the incriminator 187. will it sound good in a single 1.8CF ported @ 38Hz with 500 watts????? if im doing 1 12, i really dont want to spend more than 125 on one. i have the kicker cvr 12 in the back of my mind...... iv owned cvr's befor and i have decided a long time ago that they are the best bang for the buck. but iv always wanted a sundown sub. WHAT DO I DO???? used SA 12??????
  18. As my title reads, im putting subs in my 1965 mustang. im not doing anything big like my truck (12" orion hcca) i just want a little something. i was thinking about 2 10" kicker cvr's or 1 15 of something but idk what.IM NOT SPENDING MORE THAN 150 ON SUBS! i have a kicker zr240 (TRUE 500 watts) to push whatever i get. any ideas????? Thanks
  19. the one thing that REALLY catches my eye on the zcon, is that it says "100% MADE IN USA" that means a lot to some people. like me when i got my first fi audio sub (18" btl) i thought they were just another china brand. then i seen made in usa on the back. thats when i realized why they cost so much more than most others. but im willing to pay for a made in usa product.unfortunatly i had to sell the fi 18 because i have a ranger so there wasnt enough room for a box. it is extended cab but its just not enough. plus i only had a kicker zx1500.1 to push it with lol. anyways back on topic. GL on finding a sub bro.
  20. just a thought for you.... id look into a orion hcca. i have 1 12 in a 3.0CF ported box and it gets super loud and has amazing SQ. id say its louder than the 2 15" L5's i had and the 2 12" L7's i had. i have it on a mtx 1501d and it gets crazy loud. but then again i drive a truck and the sub is like 2ft away from ur head so its hard to say what its gonna sound like in a car
  21. 2 10 or 12" orion hccas. i just picked up 1 12 and i have it on a mtx 1501d and it slammms for 1 12. i cant imagine what 2 would be like in a small car.
  22. well if ur intrested in used subs, the orion hcca is a good choice. iv owned every kicker sub, a fi btl 18, re xxx and i must say for the money, the orion is it. i just have 1 12 in a 1.8CF box ported on a mtx 1501d and it slammms. my new box is being built. just a thought for ya.
  23. Depending on the materials he uses etc that doesn't seem bad. The last box I built cost me about $50 in supplies (mdf, glue, silicone, dowels, screws, and paint), that's excluding carpet. ya. iv been buying all my system equip. through the same guy and his shop so he cuts me deals. here are a few pic's of how the system looks now. a little mess at the moment because i havent had time to clean it up yet. (i tried to get a shot of some excursion but my camera is SH*T)
  24. im guessing befor. so it will still be 2.7cf the sub is .3 so ya lol
  25. sorry i mean 36Hz lol but ya i got my 1501d amp today and WOW. im very impressed with theis sub and amp. it is louder than the 2011 kicker l7 15 i had in a 5CF box and for how low and loud it got, i didnt think 1 12 could do it. but sure enough the hcca does! i gave the box builder a down payment to get started on it. 3.0CF tuned to 36Hz. hes double facing it and building a craddle for the magnet. sound good for $150? he built me a sealed box for a 15" L5 i used to have and it was 2x's louder than the pre-fab. box i had previous to his box. and i can choose what color carpet i want. lol
