What would you have done differently?
If your having a hard time deciding between a Q or BL then pick the BL. This. I've owned the Q and while it was a good sub the BL is what I really should have gotten. The Q is not a sub for people who like to push the equipment to their limits to get all the loudness out of it. And I love my xcon, I'm actually selling it right now if you are interested.

For me it would have been to go out to the store and drop the extra 10-15 on connectors or solder so I could do all my headunit wiring. I would have loved to solder the connections and heatshrink it all but instead I just twisted them and electrical taped.

What should i do with this???
He just said he was dropping to low 12's Missed that, but I agree he should get a bigger alt. Don't expect a large gain in output by just changing the alt though. This. You may gain some on the meter but without actually upgrading your amp to something bigger you won't hear anything audibly. Though your subs will thank you for it as well, being that they won't be getting a clipped signal from the higher voltage.

Welcome to the IHoP
I feel like an ass I didn't offer when you were here. From de de de to a double cap is about 3 minutes. Most spent talking. Doubles re-appear every 70sec afterwards. Singles twice as fast, Foofy derivations are not served. Chocolate is not foof. Chocolate is indeed foof, sir... But it is perfectly acceptable foof. Ok, I'll give you milk chocolate as foof, but IMO milk chocolate isn't edible. Dark or bust Dark chocolate Dark has that weird flavor to it that I just can't deal with...same reason I can't drink dark coffee. Milk chocolate is great. White chocolate becomes very hard to eat after a couple bites...

What should i do with this???
He just said he was dropping to low 12's OP I would highly suggest an alternator if you plan on running over 1500-2000w. No matter how many batteries you have you will never be able to hold your voltage above 13v unless you have a better alternator. As for the amp, those hifi's are overrated a bit. If you are going to run hifonics I suggest at least getting the BRZ series. That crescendo is on a totally different level than your hifonics.

Sanford Sound 9/29/12 Highlights
Thanks, it doesn't do it much justice though. This setup sounds great and moves a ton of air. Too bad there wasn't any chicks at the show or I might have been able to get a vid of a hair trick

Sanford Sound 9/29/12 Highlights
I'll be editing some of the vids I got from the last Sanford Sound show we had this year. I had mentioned in my build log that I did a box for 4 obsidian 12's that we were getting ready for the show, and this is the setup all up and running:

WTT: Xcon 18 D2 for Icon 12/15 D2
Lookin to downgrade a bit, with my funds being pretty low I need the extra cash. I bought the xcon off Godsmack a couple months ago and I've taken very good care of it ever since. 10/10 functional and 9/10 cosmetic just because it's used. Sub still isn't broken in. I was very picky about sending it a clean signal so this sub never got hot or smelled of coil. It's lived a very good life, lol. I'm ONLY looking for a 12/15" icon (dual 2). Please don't try to offer me other things because I know what I want

Hmm...thinking of switching things up a bit with the setup. Let's see how this goes

Voltage dropping irregularly
Double check your grounds, and charge each battery individually overnight with a good 2A charge

Wired SSA Icon 12 to 200w(4 ohms) today...
log(1200 / 200) = ~7.7dB. In theory that is what you should gain in terms of loudness

Wired SSA Icon 12 to 200w(4 ohms) today...
Yep SSA subs are very efficient...i'm only clamping around 1000w right now on my xcon and I'm pulling 145's sealed up

SSA Member Survey
1. How old are you? 17 2. When or how did you first get into car audio? When I was 14 I found an old audiobahn sub in my basement and starting playing around with that. Then a friend got me a hookup on some DD 1008's. I had no idea DD was such a good brand at the time but I was impressed from the performance and then it sorta just went from there 3. Your first Car? 1997 Nissan Pathfinder SE 4. What was your first system? (2) DD 1008a's in 1.5 cubes @ 33hz running off an audiopipe AP-1500, alpine ida-x200, DD coaxials and a sony XM-3520 5. Whats you favorite car audio brand? SSA/DD 6. Who is your hero in the car audio industry? Gary Killian/Yujang Jin (both have nasty low end setups and that's what I love lol) 7. Whats your dream system? Probably something like 4 xcon 18's...my goal would be to do 155's @ 30hz with less than 5k 8. Whats your dream car? I don't like how any of the cars look...honestly if my current pathfinder was in excellent condition I'd be happy 9. Whats the best sounding car you have heard? Best sounding car would be mine, loudest car would be Mike Travassos' explorer with 6 DC 15's doing 158's 10. Were do you buy most of your car audio products? I usually trade or buy used from other people on caraudio.com 11. What is your day job? Been unemployed for the past 3 years 12. Do you build your own boxes? Yeah, as well as build them for other people (which sorta makes up for the whole me being unemployed thing) 13. Whats is your most recent audio addition? Getting as loud and low as possible without upgrading my amps

Been sick all week so I made a quick flex vid but it was kinda dark out and my camera sucks so it's hard to see it. Song hits at 23hz and it shakes EVERYTHING. I know I've probably said it a thousand times but I've never had a sub that could dig so low and still sound so good as the xcon- Welcome to the IHoP

37hz http://kiwi6.com/file/rar495jaxu- Another bloody calculator
Cool site Couple suggestions: If you click "Calculate" and all the forms aren't filled out you should have it highlight the empty fields instead of trying to calculate it when there isn't enough information given. If you click the "in." label you could have it cycle through different units like it does in Winisd.- ssa gcons
If that was the case, you seriously had a crap box for the Fi Q, sacrificed a ton of FR, or have a strange definition of "low end" Q was in a 6.5 cube box tuned to 32 with around 80 in^2 of port. OA-12 was in a 2:1 box with 1 cube sealed and 2 cubes ported tuned to 40hz with an 8" sonotube. And by low end I mean 28-33hz. The Q did better on anything below 28hz and was louder at around 37hz+ Edit: both had a frequency range of about mid 20's to 50hz So you were impressed by a 5Hz pass band??? ROFL. Yay fartbox!! And you should realize you could have designed your ported box to have a peak to beat it as well. Of course, the rest of the morons pushing 4th order BP won't. Please don't turn this into some pissing contest, I was just giving my opinion/experiences.- ssa gcons
