  1. For every article there is an equal and opposite article. Thank God for the intrawebz!!! http://www.menshealth.com/nutrition/soys-negative-effects Not trying to piss in your Cornflakes, but soy isn't really a risk I am willing to take, especially at my age. If it has estrogenic compounds, I'll just steer clear, personally.
  2. I am just curious.............why the Soy Protein? J He is trying to get in touch with his feminine side. Yeah isn't there something in soy that mimics estrogen, or something along those lines? Indeed, sir. Soy protein is actually more suggested for women then men.
  3. I was born and raised Catholic never ran into anything like this. I don't know anyone who believes in God, Allah, Mogammed, etc, who acts like this response. The atheists can be just as ignorant as those who believe in a supreme being. More ignorant in many cases.

  5. Break out the mirror... wait, wrong powder?
  6. I got my son some Skullcandy Skullcrushers. http://www.skullcandy.com/shop/skullcrushers-black-pinstripe Not bad for ~$70.
  7. Preach it brotha!!! We stacked on D, but I still worry about scoring.
  8. Aaron's canned reponse: He sent me a PM a couple weeks ago. I told him to contact admin and he's since logged in and posted a classified ad. How did he screw up again? Not enough whiskey?
  9. That's a fucking joke. I know several very good mechanics who can't find work. The guys being snatched up as soon as they graduate are going to Econo Lube and Tune and other such low paying, low intellect gigs. The bottom feeders. Those of us who really fix cars are not needed as much as cars today don't need the service work they used to. Gone are the 12,000 points, plugs, condenser jobs. They are 100,000 plus intervals. Gone are the valve jobs every 60,000 miles. Engines go unopened for 250,000 miles. Valve issues are so rare that I wind up diagnosing misfires that have been to several shops without a fix, only to find a burned valve. What used to be commonplace is no more. Hell, in my shop only 2 of us know how to build differentials. Seriously? Sure, most guys are pretty much morons, and they earn $36,000 annually. They have no real experience. Thanks to how reliable todays cars are, they will never gain any worthwhile experience, and the 6 figure tech is becoming no more. It is an industry that is falling by the wayside of parts swappers.
  10. Whiskey helps with everything.
  11. No. Rum is sweet. I don't like sweet alcohol.
  12. Gross. have you tried the new Bacardi Oakheart? SWEET!!! Don't like rum. Don't like sweet drinks. I am a straight up whiskey drinker... no mixer. Woodford Reserve Double Oaked... now that's where it's at.
  13. gross
  14. Gross.
  15. Bullshit, ya fuckin snob.
  16. Try ritalin
  17. The Vatican is loaded with amazing marble, most of which are widely unknown...
  18. I am not generally a fan of museums either. For the most part most of the art sucks. I prefer galleries or showings where I can view one or 2 artists I like. The Vatican Museums were amazing. He has been a favorite of mine for a long time. I used to really enjoy his stuff when I was on acid. We took a trip to the LA County museum for one of his showings and dropped about an hour and a half before we went in (crowds on acid never bothered me). We were mesmerized for hours.
  19. Looks like he still has one in Laguna. The last museum I was at was in La Jolla, but it was sort of a let down, but I didn't go there specifically for the museum either. Who, what? I stay in Laguna Beach every time I go out to my office. Seth was talking about Wyland. Looks like he mostly does marine paintings and a little abstract. Id like to see more abstract and surrealism. Yeah, Wyland. The thing I liked was his use of color. The deep blues and contrasting bright sealife really kicks ass in person. He had 2 galleries in Laguna, one right on PCH and another off a little side street. Next time you are out there spend a couple hours in his gallery. Some of his work almost seems corny, almost like he is trying too hard to be cute, but his serious work is awesome. Interesting that you would like surrealism. I would say my 2 favorite more modern artists are Dali and Wyland. Yeah, total opposite ends of the spectrum, but both just do something for me when I look at their work.
  20. There are a few galleries on Cannery Row. One time when we went Wyland had an exhibit there, but if I am remembering correctly that was at the aquarium, I don't think he had a gallery or was using someone else's up there, but I could be wrong... that was better than 15 years ago. I lived just outside Laguna Beach for a few years and he had 2 galleries there. I always loved his work, so we visited his showing up there (on Cannery Row).
  21. If you're staying in the city Cannery Row (yes, as in Steinbeck's novel Cannery Row) is a touristy section on the waterfront. There is an overrated aquarium there (it's OK, but nothing spectacular), and lots of shops, restaurants and bars. It isn't really an amazing place, but it will kill some time and you'll find plenty to do for a day.
  22. The town of Carmel is pretty cool. That is where Clint Eastwood was mayor. It is just south of Monterey. Laguna Seca is also not far from Monterey. When I lived in SoCal I used to take chicks up to Big Sur all the time. There was an awesome log cabin I would rent for a long weekend. There was a pretty awesome restaurant just outside of Big Sur right on PCH, built into the hillside called Nepenthe... Best views you will have out there, and the food was pretty good. Pebble Beach is a waste. We did the 17 mile drive once... don't waste the time or money. All you do is roll through a high dollar neighborhood and look at the ocean and homes. Seems like we paid $10 or so to make the drive. We saw otters, big homes, a golf course and a cat get hit by a car and start convulsing and flipping all over the road like a fish out of water. I ran it over to end it's misery and my girlfriend freaked out on me. The lone Cypress is interesting. Not really a must see, but a pretty awesome photo op if you like taking nature pics. Don't know if you have ever seen a pinecone from a Sequoia or a Redwood, but when you see them on the side of the road it is pretty cool. Big ol' SOBs.
  23. LOL. My little black regal is fast too.
  24. While untrue years ago, this is definitely true over the last 10 or 15 years. We have been making a lot of money off them lately.
  25. I guess it is all really a perspective thing. I look at the vehicles everyone here thinks are so great and I think "what a pile of shit". But I get to work on these cars. I see them with hundreds of thousands of miles on them, and I see the associated repair bills and maintenance costs. I see how they hold up, how well they are really engineered, and how those "cheap looking" plastic interiors hold up when compared to their wrapped brethren. I drive all Buick cars, and Nissan trucks. I don't want the high costs associated with bullshit cars that look pretty, but are substantive crap. I don't want to have to come home only to fix my cars, and if I have to, I want it to be easy. [/rant] The wrapped cars require some pre-thought before purchase. The cheapest 2 cars I've ever owned for maintenance were both M type BMW's. And of course right now I get to drive something work leases for me and picks up the service. I only pay for repairs & tires, but the certified bumper to bumper takes care of everything but the tires. As for the substantive crap, I'm curious what tops your list. The biggest BS on the road? VW/Audi. One of the biggest disappointments from my perspective is Infinity. I can see the Silverado being a burner. They suffer high cost failures, like fuel pumps and cats, older models had issues with water pumps and intake manifolds. I have seen some that eat distributors like they were candy. While I generally prefer GM, I wouldn't own a Chevy V8 truck, unless it was a big block. I am not really a truck fan myself though. I hate working on them, I hate driving them, and they are all pieces of shit. Fords have got to be the worst. Their 3 valve head issues, and coil failures are a nightmare. Camshafts locking up, timing chains falling apart, GEM module failures, rear ends coming apart. I would rather eat Pamela Anderson's blown out hepatitis loaded ass then own a Ford truck. Euros are general junk from a wrench's perspective. Failure rates today are through the roof. Stupid shit like MAF boots falling apart, and they cost a fortune. All their rubber is awful (now we know why Chrysler has so many issues with EVAP hoses falling apart!), and their diagnostic strategy is retarded. The information they offer us is a joke. Their guided fault finding is an insult to a real technician's intelligence, and it leads to the wrong conclusion 50% of the time. Note to German engineers, not everyone working on a car has an education level equivalent to your second grader! Their electronics are horrible, with constant MAF failures, and big ticket items like drive by wire throttle body failures all the time. As a general rule I find most vehicles to be disappointments. I love getting into G35s and seeing the entire interior falling apart around me. You paid what for this POS? But I am a cynic.
