  1. Hello everyone, ok so i had just bought a 2005 honda civic a few days ago and want to put my 12" bl and my aq2200 in it. The honda civic has a 70a alt (terrible yes i know) and a 500 cca 85m reserve battery in it. what im wanting to do is the big 3 which i have my 0g on its way to my house and then upgrade the battery for now because i need to save up for a 170a dc alt. Ok so what im wanting to know is what battery would be better but still fit in the stock location? iv looked everywhere and all i can find is a yellow top that is rated at the same as my stock battery. im only hooking up my aq2200 for now cuz my car wouldnt be able to run my mid/high amp also until i get my alt. im guessing it should be fine with the big 3 and a better batter with my aq2200 wired at 2 ohms seeing 1200watts. so does anybody have any battery suggestions for a 05 honda civic, or maybe would i be able to run a second battery in the back off my alt for now cuz i have a red top thats just laying around or would that burn out my alt? any suggestions would be great! Thanks FI
  2. Ok if your considering an smd then you have some major upgrades to do for your electrical if not already done. Yes the smd is a monster and would most likely tear up a btl, but you need a very powerful amp to push it. I heard they have very high motor strength which makes it more of a spl woofer instead of a daily driver woofer. I think you would be better off getting an 18" btl, there is no need to have any more then an 18" btl lol trust me you wont be dissapointed with it!!
  3. could anybody lead me in the right direction to some good but cheap wire, i was looking at this knukonceptz kca wire for 1.95$ a ft but not sure if its good quality or not? or is the kollosses fleks wire better? any advise would help
  4. Ok so im finally going to do the big 3 on my new car because i had just purchased an 05 honda civic. What im asking is do i just leave the stock wiring and add the 0g in for more power flow or do i replace the stock wiring with 0g? someone told me i just bypass the stock stuff and add in the 0g but im not too sure, any help would be great
  5. I also would say the 2 15" bl's would be louder and sound better, but then again its always nice to blow people away with just 1 sub , pretty much just toss a coin
  6. so you guys are saying that alpine and rockford amps are better then the aq but yet i see sooo many people ordering up these aq amps and say they are amazing and never overheat and are pretty underrated.
  7. how can you recommend a box size without knowing what size sub he's getting, doesnt make sense?
  8. yea but a btl is rated at 2kw and the alpine puts out max rms of 1000 watts, there would leave me know room to upgrade subs in the future thus with the aq i can go from 1200 to 2200
  9. how will the alpine do more then the aq when the alpine only does 1200 watts at 2-4ohms? the aq does 2200 at 1ohm and they are pretty underrated from what pro-rabbit says that works at aq, he stays on the car audio forum build boxes for them, but the alpine doesnt do any more then 1200 i just looked it up on the site
  10. well the thing is with the alpine its not going to do 2200 watts like the aq would do its a 1000 watt amp, seems like that would be the bottom option because the aq puts out 1200 at 2ohms, i know the pdx amps are good because i have the alpine pdx 4 channel and its great but for what im wanting to do and looking into the future the aq seems to be the best option but what i was asking was is it a decent riliable amp that will last me and is it good clean power? I know my rockford amp got very hot after playing for a lil while and iv heard people saying theve ran there aq amps for hours and never even gets warm, is this true?
  11. any reason behind this? i like the idea of the aq2200 because if i ever wanted to get the btl all id have to do is get the d2 and wire it to 1ohm and keep same amp
  12. great idea im all for it also!!
  13. so i just sold me Rockford t1000 and am debating on getting a aq2200 for my bl fully loaded wired to 2 ohms. So what i was asking was what is everyones thoughts on aq amps. are they pretty underrated and will it draw more power then my rf amp did, do they get hot at all or has anyone had anything bad to say about them. Everyones advise is greatly appreciated
  14. depends on what size btl, thats what should have been states in post, but yes the site will tell you whats good for the specific sub you want
  15. Yea im gonna probably order 15 ft pf stinger 0 gauge tonight and some ring terminals and then ill take it one step at a time, thanks for the help
  16. ok so nobody ever answer the question about using a dmm to tune my gain. IM getting a new jvc kd-r900 h/u with 5v preouts and was wondering what numbers i need to be looking for on my dmm to put my gain at. i want it to be perfect so i dont have to worry about it being too much or not enough cuz i really dont know the max output of my fi bl yet. so what numbers should the dmm be at for it to be set right. im giving my bl about 1300-1400 watts at a 2 ohm load to the amp
  17. ok ill try and find the alt, once i find it i can see how much pos wire i need then i gotta d/c the ground and see what i need there, thanks for the help guys, didnt think the big 3 was this difficult haha, prob would be alot easier on an older car, damn forgnier cars lol
  18. i think the alt is under all that stuff to the left of the battery cuz thats where the pos wire goes, for the grounding thats not where its grounded thats just a radiator bolt, the ground wire also goes way down under the battery somewhere i dont understand it and not too sure where the alt is, so frustrating lol
  19. theres 5 photos of the battery and wires
  20. wow i dont know how to get the pictures on the post, i have a memory card i take out of my phone and have an adapter to plug into my computer, so how do i get the pictures on here, it requests a http or something?
  21. ok lemme go take a picture and try to upload it on here, im pretty sure my alt is under a bunch of stuff cuz i lose sight of the pos wire going down to the alt but ill be right back
  22. yea i know where they are, but i dont know where the ground goes i loose sight of it under some stuff, and then chassis to engine block dont know how id do that or where that wire is.
  23. well if its going to be that high in price then id way rather figuring out how to do it myself because thats just crazy haha. does anyone else have anything on this because everyone says they have the big 3 but did you guys pay to have it done or did you do it yourself cuz it seesm like you have to take out half the engine compartment to get to them all and i only get 1 day off a week to do that and i use my car for work so any suggestions would be great, or if i can buy everything online and then have the shop install it for me.
  24. Ok so everyone keeps telling me to go get the big 3 upgrade done cuz its a pretty simple way to relieve stress from numerous things. Ok so i go to my local shop today to get a quote and learn a lil more about what it takes to do it. The guy comes out and looks at my car and i tell him the 3 wires that i want to upgrade to 0g. so he comes in and starts crunching numbers on his calculator and comes up with a price of $263??? I almost walked out of the store right there haha but all the stuff was good quallity. all was RF power and ground wires and new terminals and rings and the whole 9 yards. but nobody every told me that i would need all this stuff for a big 3 upgrade. So is this guy out of his mind or is it around that to have someone do it for you cuz the looks of under my hood it looks really complicated but im not spending 263 bucks on some wires and other stuff and labor lol. so what all exactly do i need to do the big 3 on a 2000 nissan maxima?
  25. iv never seen a mx-3 but somebody here will have the answer, but yes match the volts from your h/u to the amp
