  1. I like posting i threads, this is the perfect place haha
  2. This is the hardest decision of my entire life. seriously
  3. I know from the two subs that their unstoppable but, i cannot really decide. I've been a huuge fan of Fi car audio and has been my favorite for years now untill i ran into ssa audio. The two are almost the same to me. I dont really know the difference between the two of them. Their both the same price and can take about the same amount of watts rms rated. Both have 1 ohm DVC. If there is anyone out there that has heard from these two subwoofers please help me. Is one for SQ and the other for SPL or something? I want something that can take a enormous amount of power and can take a lot of excursion. I wanted something that has a huge amount of kick and can be heard outside and rumble your ribcage
  4. How big of a box would you have if you have a 12" ssa xcon in a box tuned to 32
  5. That's all my brothers stuff. I would never tune my enclosure at 46 hertz. thats too too high. I hope he learns lol
  6. I hope that's a joke, he didn't specify any port dimensions OP, for one, the box is tuned way too high, his subsonic filter may vary well be set wrong and thus allows the driver to unload very quickly on just about any music, or the signal is being clipped and just sounds like shit, or not enough port area. Without port dimensions and actual box volume it's hard to get a straight answer on port area noise being the issue here. I will try to give you the name of the accual box. because this box wasnt pre made. It was already made in factory. The port is rounded and i would say its about 5 inches in diameter. I know this isn't axact measurments but i hope i get full detail of the box I also keep trying to tell my bro to tune his box lower but he says it's fine like it is. I can tell him he could be getting more than he is getting right now. PLus his fuse holder is fucked up. Peices of the fuse are falling apart and the wire is walmart brand. We went to get a alternator from walmart but that alternator did not work for shit. So never ever get any car work done from walmart. or even buy anything from walmart
  7. When ever i cruise around with my brother. He somtimes likes to turn up the volume to the point where the bass isnt clear at all but has a muffled sound and isnt as loud as it was at a lower volume. Also the speakers distort at such high volume. I hate to admit it to him but he thinks when the bass hits at such high volume the bass that is traveling towards you is being messed up My belief is when you turn it up high enough, the air flow in the port cause too much air flow and can cause port noise. You can accualy hear the air moving back and forth in the port. My brother's box is about tuned to 46 hz and is about 2-3 c ft. a apline type r with 1200 watts rms
  8. Just to be sure. For a DVC 1 ohm subwoofer i can only wire it to either .5 ohm load or 2 ohm load? depending on how its wired. I have to wire the sub Parallel to get a .5 ohm load on a DVC 1 ohm subwoofer. If you guys dont mind I might make a seperate thread just on wiring different subwoofers Parallel or series on SVC and DVC subwoofers and their ohm load So im going to buy a 12" SSA XCON D1/D2 which is a 1 ohm DVC to a Sundown SAX-1200D mono amp wired parallel. I think i got it down
  9. So from what i read. I should use a mono amp for my sub and a seperate 4 channel or so amp for mid range speakers? I might be using Full range rockford fosgate speakers with built in tweeters
  10. Ive been focusing on subwoofer amps mostly other than speaker amps. Are there different type of amps made specificly for speakers but not subwoofers. can someone send me a link or a name of a rockford fosgate amp for just speakers?
  11. Wouldnt the amount of voltage you get depend on how much power you get from the amp? a lot of amps are different. My opinion i would go for sundown. But i havnt heard from skar audio before
  12. Wow this thread helped me out a lot. I cannot find a good pair of tweeters by search engine. Besides speakers from rockford fosgate
  13. I was planning on getting a new alternator. You think you could give me companies that give good cheap alternators? maybe around $100-200
  14. Awesome thanks for all the help. Ill check up on here if I need any more help
  15. So would a 12" SSA XCON D1/D2 and a Sundown Audio SAX-1200D be a good choice? ported at about 34 Hz
  16. Hello, before i begin my article I wanted to list out all the specs, measurements of everything i wanted to put in this car. To tell you I'm only 16 and i'll be getting my drivers licence soon and I wanted to put a system in right when i get this car. Electrical specs: I would be having everything from battery to alternator that was already put there during the manufactor process. So 1 200-300 volt hour battery with a regular stock alternator. I will be buying 1/0 gauge wires going from the front to the back for the amp. A fuse holder that runs from the battery to the amp. Amp specs: I have been looking around on the internet for a couple years now trying to learn what is the best of the best for it's price. I went to rockford fosgate and their amps are very well made but I cannot afford something like that. So i went to sundown and I seen their prices and their power when clamped, also how stable they are. I might be getting a saz-1500D amp and a nightshade 15D from the Speical deals in the SSA product section. This would lead me to about 1-1.2k dollars to spend. While khaotic enclosures are on hold. I have no idea how much they cost but i would love to by one already made from them. I dont think i have the space or tools to make a enclosure out of scratch. If anyone can help me finding measurements of a 15" single ported khaotic enclosure i would be very pleased The back seats in the ford tempo would be removed for space for my system. SO my question is can stock batteries and alts handle such power from this amp or will i have to upgrade. I've spent a VERY long time, learning. I began loving car audio when I seen steve meade on youtube. PLease send me a feedback ty
