Email and some order delays 10-11 through 10-15
Sorry to say that there will be email and "some" order delays from today through Monday 10-16 due to several of the Fi staff attending the 3 dB Drag world finals shows through the US. We will have 2 people on staff running some production but the balance of the shop will be "closed" through then. We will resume normal production and emails on Tuesday and get things back up to speed and make sure that all orders are filled ASAP. Sorry for the delays, but we will try to keep you all posted on the shows as well. Thanks, Scott

status on my order?
On its way to you (and thanks for the order). Please check your tacker for the revised delivery date. Thanks, Scott

Is pickup possible?
Pick up is possible. We will not have the doors open again until Tuesday next week. While we will have 2 people working on production, the balance of us will be at the various dB Drag Finals happening this weekend and we will simply act as if we are closed due to that. Normal business will resume on Tuesday 8-16 and we will have some email delays until then. Thanks, Scott

Did you get my M/O?
I have not receive the MO as of yesterday. I will check the mail right before I head out of town today and see if it is there. I will leave it at the office to be processed and started while I am gone. Thanks, Scott

Magnetizer
Gladly mag it for free. All of our magnets come in unmagnetized and we assemble the motors and zap them from there (after we machine what we need to on the top plates, poles or back plates). Send it in to: Fi Car Audio Attn: Scott 5480 Cameron St #107 Las Vegas NV 89118 Please be sure to include your name address email and phone with it. Sorry for the delay... things have been more than hectic around here Thanks, Scott

Scott...need confirmation on ordering Q12 d2
Received payment details and we are building the sub... Let me know what you are looking at for a Q15 enclosure and I will gladly help. lol... the sig pic brings back memories Old RE office with a bunch of parts from the RE line stacked up to make a funny pic. XXX top plates and random stuff stacked up... the good old days Thanks, Scott

ssd or w3
Depending on how much space you can get for them, we can tweak the SSDs to work well either sealed or ported. Ported yields more output, but in a reg cab truck is more difficult to do. How much power do you have for it? Thanks, Scott

Fully loaded BL power??
The fully loaded versions are rated at up to 2000W in the proper setup. We bring them right up to where the standard BTL comes in. While we dont always recommend 2000W to each as it depends on sub size, enclosure, tuning... and other factors. Those that do have that much going to them have been fine. Setting the subsonic filter is key on higher powered setups. Easy to kill a sub with that much power if things arent set up correctly (freeair below tuning with 2000W is bad ) Thanks, Scott

new jam in the car
Definitley a nice siteup. Pics of the rest of the car/system? Please keep us posted. Thanks, Scott

Fi Q 18
May need to polyfill after things break in depending on how you like things to sound. You have a slightly higher qtc in that space... which most people tend to like in car audio. You can lower it some by adding up to 5lbs of loosely stuffed polyfill to the box. Thanks, Scott
-
So I finally installed the Q(Pics)
Nice setup. Please keep us posted long term when things break in as to how its doing. Box is huge for a single 10"... does it seem to handle the 2-3X space ok? Interesting use of bubble wrap too Thanks, Scott

amp for 2 BL 10's
500W extra wont be a big deal per sub... 3000 should be a very solid setup. Please pay lots of attention to getting the gains and filters set up correctly. Still lots of power to a pair of 10s as they are stout amps.

break in
While subs definitely do break in... there isnt any specific method we use for breaking in a sub when installed in a car. For in house testing we free air them to break them in faster... but for car apps, just install it and play. They will naturally break in over time. Thanks, Scott

3hp Recone?
Yes we can... make sure that the holes are in a 5" circle pattern as well (this is the standard size we use). As there are many different top plate variations of this motor, it is always best to send one in for us to measure from... but most have a bigger gap and we can fit a fair amount of coils in it. A Q coiled setup with 3 softer spiders should work well. I would rather do 12s than 10s for these as well. 10s are really tight space wise.

Ive got a few different 2" coils, but not sure what will work in that motor without actually having it in front of me. osixfrontier... been there and done that with more than one company and more than one time. It is next to impossible to find anyone that would really eliminate some of my workload. I have Shawn and Nick that help with tech tremendously and are as knowledgable as they come, but they arent in Vegas. What it has always boiled down to is when we do have someone extra to take care of phones and email, everything gets forwarded to me anyway to take care of. Whatever help we get doesnt know whats being asked or how to properly answer it and I feel its a disservice to customers to have an idiot trying to answer questions (well besides me as I own it...lol). But I am training another machinist which will free up a decent amount of my time... which in turn gets me to sit at a desk and take care of the balance of the business for part of the day. I should be able to turn him loose in about 2 weeks... Just in time for dB Drag... which then turns into a mad scramble to finish the H2 for SEMA with Ascendant products.... then its smooth sailing (for at least a week Thanks, Scott

Sorry for not being on here this past week...
Sorry everyone for not getting to spend much time on here this past week. We have been excessively busy at the shop, but I have simply hit the "not enough hours in the day" thing recently. Between Fi, Ascendant, and several new OEM projects I have been swamped. I finished up a some design and testing on the OEM front this week and will clear up one more sub system by the end of the weekend (or at least the latest iteration of it). Im hoping to be back on here in full force starting Monday next week. In the meantime... there have been a few things I wanted to do this month that I simply havent had the time too... Since this is our 1 year anniversary for Fi, I wanted to give a tiny thanks and offer up a fully loaded BTL18 in a contest. Ill announce the details in the next day or two. Next, for anyone that orders a BL with the flatwindcoil between now and Oct 10th we will add the cooling for free. This saves you $40 on one of our most popular option combinations. We have also made the balance of production on the older Fi X series 10 and 12 drivers. We have as (157) X10 D4s and (200) X12 D4s. Last price on them was $109 and $119 shipped. We will do them for $150 for a pair of 10s and $160 for a pair of 12s shipped to the lower 48 states. Had parts collecting dust after we pulled the line... so we will blow them out and reclaim some space. Even further price drops for larger orders. Ill get a post going for this shortly as well. Again... thanks to Shawn and Nick, as well as all forum memebers that have been answering and helping in my absence. Ill be back shortly Thank, Scott

New to the Fi game and want some opinions
Id stick to a single driver size. It reduces issues with cancellation and is easier overall to setup. I would go ported as well. If you are ported, the BLs with some power would be a solid choice. The cooling will help things for long term listening. The port will keep things from heating up like a Holly Hobby Easy Bake Oven Lil Jon can tell you how hot his sealed subs get... with visual waves of heat coming off things. Sealed for too long simply makes ovens inside the box. Inverted will help though. Thanks, Scott

Bp power option only
I wouldnt recommend it for inverted mounting. Yes, there is noise from it as it is pumping air through the channels. Nick is probably correct in that you wouldnt hear it relative to the balance of output (especially in a trunk app) but I wouldnt think of it in anything but a trunk like that.... Just in free air you can hear it, but its not "loud". No worse than blocking off a normal subs pole vent with your hand and the associated air chuffing it would make.

18" BTL on fast-bass rock
OK let me clear the air here a little... Im glad I went home early for paper work before this gets out of hand... Let me start by saying that I dont have to download Reign in Blood... I have it on a few different discs and versions . This forum is VERY knowledgeable and normally doesnt come off in a bad way either. I believe that people are trying to give you solid advice, so please dont take it the wrong way. They will gladly teach if you listen and take it for what it is. You have two VERY knowledgeable people on this post that will tell you exactly what you need to know. But, from my side of things Ill start by asking, what do you currently have as far as products? Ill try to work with what you have before you buy things you might not need. I wouldnt do two sets of differnt sized components up front. I would do a very solid midbass up front as this is where a good portion of the double kicks will come into play (not from the sub). Do you have a specific budget to work with? There is no reason that a single BTL18 with a VERY stout midbass upfront cant get you what you are looking for. I have all the other drivers of Fi and Ascendant that I could recommend, but I dont see a major conflict with your current choice if you have the front stage to take care of things correctly. So for my sake, please give me a run down (as the rest of this post has gotten somewhat confusing with the sarcasm...lol) of your system goals. To me it seems you are looking for a solid SQ setup that can rock very hard and loud? Correct me if Im wrong... Thanks, Scott
