  1. Lol... some how my "simple" name became really complex. Now I am getting all sorts of funny name inquiries for Ascendant Audio too... JimJ... I like my logo better Although Im sure his 2A3s sound better than mine...
  2. What do you have for power? Its $98 difference between (4)SSD10s sealed and (2)BL10s ported with options. Id go with the (4) SSDs anyday. They will have fairly similar overall ouput... the (2)10s ported might have a slight (1-2dB) advantage right at tuning but overall Id say that the SSDs would be louder. Thanks, Scott

Should be good to go with 7 cuft and 90sqin of port. Lands right in the middle of our recommendations. Is this for a daily driving setup? 33-35 Hz tuning will work well. Thanks, Scott

The 18Q does have 2 spiders. But, when we modify them for home theater IB use, we only use 1 spider on them. All of our subs use 2 or more spiders for mechanical durability. Making 1 spider as stiff as 4 will crack and break. It is better to use multiple thinner/more compliant spiders to achieve the same desired compliance. Thanks, Scott
  5. Welcome to the forum. Box looks solid and clean. Are the braces right up against the port, or are they spaced out a ways? Hard to tell from the pic. If they are up against the port, then they will obstruct the flow, and honestly, you probably dont need the 2X3 (looks like 2X3) in that direction... those panels look ok. The back wall or top to bottom (which you do get some top and bottom strength with the boards on edge like you have them) will be what needs it the most considering they are the largest panels. Clean work. Thanks, Scott
  6. Shipping to your postal code is an extra $22 via USPS. This is slightly more for shipping that UPS, but considering how much UPS charges for brokerage it is far less expensive overall. Assuming you want a standard SSD10 with no options you are looking at a total of $201. Thanks, Scott
  7. Canadians are screwed on that deal Email me your address and Ill spring for the $.67 to send you a couple. [email protected] As for Iraq... do you have an APO? I can send it to that no problem. Otherwise, to everyone else in the US... simply send a self address stamped envelope in and Ill send you a couple stickers back. Thanks, Scott
  8. The mods for the IB subs are a change in spiders and normally wiring the subs to a single coil for ease of wiring up in the attics ; We can do either a S4 or S2 coil for them. With 2400W on tap, you would kill a pair of them if you are not careful. You will reach Xmax at 20Hz with about 600W... so most people max out at about 800W per sub. Youd have 1200W... so you would really need to dial things in with the DSP to make sure that they wont be seeing that on the bottom end. Im a big fan of headroom if used properly... and you will have plenty of it. Or, simply get the S4 subs and run them mono at 8 Ohms... 750 each and you would have the ability to add another 2 subs and wire to a single 4 Ohm load for all 4 subs. Make a manifold for 4 subs the first time and block off two of them. Worst case you never use them... best case, you will need to repair drywall if you do Sorry for the mail delay. Ill be back on all the emails later today. Rather hectic lately and using up the last 3 days getting the CNC rolling again has taken its toll time wise too. Thanks, Scott
  9. I have lol Avalanche is a solid sub with more Xmax than the SSD. It does have a shorter coil and less power handling thermally... but with 800W, it should do fine. If it is in mint condition, Id probably pick that up. Reconed AVAs to 18s go for an arm and a leg on the AV forums... So at worst case its a decent investment and you now have a good SQ sub. Thanks, Scott
  10. Like Nick said... the original date normally says something different as it is generated at that time the order is processed and UPS assumes it will ship the same day. With a leadtime for building the subs, it does not. Once it is picked up, it will have a rescheduled delivery date now based off the fact that they have the subs in the box smashing hands Rescheduled to 3/7/07 simply means that the original estimated date was wrong and that now that they have it, it will be rescheduled a correct date based off the pick up date. I wish I could change how this is set up, but UPS does not allow me to. It will either email you when the order is processed with the assumed same day pickup date, or when you receive the sub... which would be worthless at that point. It does create some confusion and a few p1ssed off customers as they are expecting their product on a certain date... and it doesnt show. But we do have a sticky regarding this (well we used to... I need to see if there is one again or make one) and it is in the T&C as well... Let me know if I can help with anything else... Thanks and have a good weekend, Scott
  11. I second threaded nutserts for bigger subs (from a legal standpoint as I surely do not want someone suing when there sub smacks them in the back of the head in a wreck...). Coarse drywall screws have served me well over the years, but they make a screw that looks like a coarse drywall, but is larger in diameter and the heads simply wont strip or snap no matter what you do... those in 1.500" size are what I use for heavier subs or anything in a wall (I wont sue myself..lol) Also, close to the drawer/furniture hardware section at most Lowes/HD are flanged nutserts that you can stick in from the backside. With the flange on the back, if you torque down on the screws in the front, they simply cant pull through... like a T-Nut, but they screw in as well... so they dont fall out when you already have 7 of them in I have also used a T-nut that has a small hole in the flange side to run a tiny screw through. This keeps them from falling out when you are sticking screws in... same thing can be done with standard T-Nuts by running a small screw inbetween the tangs with the head overlapping the flanges a little. Takes a couple extra minutes an a $0.79 bag of small screws, but youll thank yourself for not having to pull the other 7 screws out to replace the one that fell in. Thanks, Scott
  12. Poor WJ...lol Keep us posted and thanks for the order Thanks, Scott
  13. Id like to see them come back here too. Ill try and get time over the weekend to get a "proposal" going for all of the SSA members and Fi folks that will net you some free Fi stuff for posting reviews about your products...ala "Chris" format. This will build up a solid reference for everyone here and have a VERY simple fast method for searching for them (1. based off of the product and number of them, and 2. based off the car). This will allow people to quickly search for either the subs they are interested in, or the vehicle they have to see what others are doing... For those that dont currently have Fi products... they wont be left out either... but will have to do a little more to get some free stuff Thanks... Scott
  14. Sent you an email... we got it changed for you. Good to go Thanks for the order... Scott
  15. He is a little further to the east than Canada He is in Malaysia so the subs did tend to travel quite a way over the pond. But... the abuse that the boxes suffered is a good reference for shipping overseas via the USPS. I will indeed have to pack things a little more for the trip. Shipping to Canada has proved to be no different than in the states and I havent had an issue whatsoever. df.dima... I am backed up on emails once again. We have focused this week on getting all the orders out on schedule due to the massive ordering of BLs and all of the extra machining they take. I will get back on track with emails tonight, tomorrow and over the weekend. Thanks for your patience. Thanks... Scott
  16. Ship weight is 57 lbs I believe... or atleast thats what I tell UPS Thrid magnet and extra pole length adds another 10 lbs. Thanks, Scott

Call him and repent How loud is loud? I know we can get your to have PLENTY of headroom in the 149.9 class so that you dont have to hammer it from the greenlight on out. Then youd only have to worry about breaking out... Scott
  18. Been rolling them out the doors for 3-4 months now. We used a dual spaced spider on those to keep coil rock to a minimum. Everyone seems to be happy with them so far Thanks, Scott
  19. Impedance isnt really the problem... its the motor dimensions. They use a VERY tight pole piece and our standard 3.000" ID coils are too tight. They slide on, but with about .003-.005" clerance per side. I am looking for a 3.018" ID coil (which is the other US standard size). Even at that, it will still be only .012-.014" per side which is tighter than the SPL version of the BTL. Seems they either used a Chinese coil with a larger ID, or they run them way too tight for a normal daily setup. Thanks, Scott
  20. Either sub will work well. The Qs do fine with less than rated power... and 750 is within recommendations for the SSDs. Sealed or ported? Thanks, Scott

Tom... So whats happening for SBN? Shawn had said that you most likely were going to be picking up 3 shows in your area to get points (which makes sense) instead of making the trek all the way down to Daytona. More power and new subs afer that?
  22. Yes I can do them no problem. But, normally the SX comes with 2 stiff spiders, not 3. I can do 3, and have recently for a few people with other modifications for the SX to handle more power. Please email me at [email protected] with your zipcode and I can quote you a shipped price. Thanks, Scott
  23. We really cant stop someone from buying a Fi product direct and the selling it through their store. Kind of silly to pay more than the direct price for something... but I guess if the customer doesnt know at the time... Fi is a direct only company, plain and simple. Thanks, Scott
  24. I would probably do the full cooling as Nick suggested. You are at the border where you could probably get away without it, but for extended sessions the full cooling makes a big difference. Normally with the 2400W+ it is a given that you have to do it, but you are at 2100W. If you are tough on subs and push them, Id do it. If you push them only occassionally and listen at more "sane" levels most of the time, then the pole chamfer would probably be fine. Thanks, Scott
  25. Wow. I have yet to see anything that beat up in shipping. We have honed the packaging quite a ways to the point we were get zero damages in shipping for the least amount of $$$ in packaging material. I have shipped them all over the world and that is the worst Ive seen since we started using the double wall boxes. I am glad they made it there in one piece though. I am wondering if this is a function of the US Postal Service or not (we normally ship via UPS but it was significantly more expensive to do so). Please keep us all posted as to how they sound once you get them up and running, then again when they are broken in. Thanks, Scott
