  1. Never heard of them before. The top piece is a nice touch, but what is the seller asking for them? Depending on the price, I would look at the RF 25 To Life amps at the SSA store instead.
  2. Got all of the pics up from HES this past weekend. Some absolutely insane setups there. The biggest surprise of the show in my eyes were the Silverline Minuets that cost $600 per pair. If I didn't have my Maggies at home I would have bought a pair on the spot. I'm usually not a big fan of bookshelf speakers, but the Minuets were just stunning in every way. Tons of over the top and uber expensive eye candy as well. Finally got to hear the Cabasse La Sphere's in person as well. Nothing like dropping $150,000 on speakers... Oh and Jim, more tube amps than I have ever seen in my life. The Wilson room was pitch black except for the tubes glowing, it was absolutely beautiful. I think there are about 400 pictures total, so plan on taking some time to go through all of them. I'll have more detailed write-ups about the different rooms as the week goes on. We also stopped by Grado Headphones in Brooklyn and took a tour, so expect that up soon as well. John Grado's personal line-array speakers using 32 headphone drivers each were badass.
  3. A little off topic, but make sure you delete all of your info off of the phone before you sell it. People can get all kinds of crazy info off of old cellphones. Go here and it tells you how to delete EVERYTHING from your phone... http://wirelessrecycling.com/home/data_eraser/
  4. Call them or shoot them an email, they can get you some CAL28's. Those tweeters are not cheap are typically a special order item for Rainbow dealers.
  5. http://www.premier-audio.com/ They are authorized to sell Rainbow.
  6. Not sure of your budget but I was just looking at an Onkyo A-9555. I think they can be found for about $500 and put out 200 watts per channel into 4 ohms. I'm diggin the silver version. http://www.onkyousa.com/model.cfm?m=A-9555...class=Amplifier The Harman Kardon HK 3480 receiver is a good buy as well that will put out 150 watts into 4 ohms. Amazon has it for $228. http://www.amazon.com/Harman-Kardon-HK3480...r/dp/B0001FI49I ... and a small list of good budget stereo receivers... http://hometheater.about.com/cs/toppicks/t...tp2channela.htm
  7. I found a pic of their mid and that wasn't the one I am thinking of. Damn, I'm going to go crazy looking for this thing now.
  8. Someone posted up some macro pics of these absolutely beautiful drivers a while back. I think it might have been NDMStang, but I'm not sure. I think they were posted on this forum so that is why I am posting this here. It was a smaller (6"?) driver with a carbon fiber cone and chrome phase plug. I remember reading something about them being produced, but I never saw anythng about them again. Anyone know what I am talking about or have I had too many drinks on Cinco de Mayo?
  9. Another good read is The Audio Critic. Definitely one of my favorites.
  10. Thanks for the compliments guys. Each one is 63" tall and 21" wide so my wife was a bit apprehensive at first about putting them in the house. So I let her listen to her favorite music (Dave Matthews Band) on them and that won her over.
  11. He had already sold one amp, so one will have to do for now. Not only that, but one 555 bridged per side would be insane. I'm probably going to have to bypass the fuses as it is with just the one amp. Here are some pics of the Maggies after a total refurb. I replaced all of the electronics and relaid the tweeter wires. Ended up using copper foil inductors and Dayton 1% caps. I had to make a couple mylar patches for small holes that had opened up over the years and also added some 80Hz highpasses and Dayton binding posts as well as spikes. All of the wood was repaired and refinished by a local guy, and the skirts are brand new as well. I ended up spending about $300 to make the MGI's as good as new (not including the $200 purchase price), and couldn't be happier. I know MMG's can be bought for that price, but I would much rather have something that has some character behind it like a 25 year old classic piece of audio gear.
  12. I'm stoked, finally getting an Adcom GFA-555 II for my Maggies. I've heard them with 100 watts per side and they sounded good, but 300 watts per side is going to be badass. I can't wait! Thanks to Jim for the recommendation a while back on my Magnepan thread. I ditched the idea of using a receiver to power the Maggies and decided to ante up for some real power. The seller had a pair of them so that's why there are two in the picture.
  13. Damn, pics look great. What camera model?
  14. I've seen a veneer that looks like a patchwork of similar light colored panels (about 2" high by 6" long) and it looked amazing on a really high-end speaker enclosure. Only problem is that now I don't remember where I saw it and no one that sells veneers seems to know what the hell I am talking about. That was probably the best looking veneer I have ever seen used though.
  15. Good stuff guys! SSA is gaining momentum quickly these days.
  16. Check with your neighbors first. I had an amp delivered once and my neighbor took it since I wasn't home. He ended up keeping the package for a week and forgot to tell me he had it. I was well into the refund process with UPS when he remembered to tell me.
  17. Hey Jim, this guy is local to me and going to let me demo this bad boy... LINK
  18. Try this one... (580) 634-0151.
  19. Edit: Nevermind, just got a call back from them.
  20. Just got confirmation from Steve that the amplifier in the link above and in the pics below is in fact the amp he designed for Harman.
  21. I guess I'll go ahead and spill the beans since there is one on ebay right now... Harmon Kardon Citation 7.1 Made in 1995-96 MSRP $4,000 I asked Steve to confirm that the one on ebay is indeed the amplifier we are talking about. EBAY LINK Ebay Item Number: 270105122284
  22. The CF covers on the Zed looks awesome. I'm diggin the rings on the AA Polys as well. Very nice work! How much would you want to do one of those CF rings for a 15"?
  23. I knew it, he has made one. It is over 10 years old by now though and they only pop up on ebay every now and then. They were made for another pretty well known company, but I'd be willing to bet only a handful of people know that this particular amp is Zed made. I'm going to try and track one down before I post the info up and it gets out. If anyone needs to know right now though, shoot me a pm and I'll spill the beans. *EDIT: I forgot to say that when I asked Steve what he thought of the amplifier, he told me he is still using one in his house.
  24. I'm waiting for their PR guy to call me back. Finding a phone number for someone at RCA took a while, they hide them pretty good.
  25. I've been trying to find pics of those damn things everywhere, good find! They don't have anything on their normal website from what I saw. I was speaking with a rep last week about the RCA headunits and he was saying they were very nice. RCA was one of the brands he repped though... Is it me or does the button layout on the RCA headunits look just like an Alpine?
