I think the saying "you get what you pay for" is true. That bein said would it be wiser to get a better quality 10" sub or a lesser quality 15" sub? Or is that just a favor of difference in a punchy 10 or versatile 15?

Building a new box for 1 15". Was gunna make it an abnormal shape as opposed to the everyday cube. I've heard that less parallel sides results in less standing waves, but I don't think it would be too noticeable in car audio. Anyway my point is wanting opinion on the ideal shape of a box. Also plan to port it. Thanks.

You need to give more info about the enclosure if you already have it built.
From reading your comments, you won't notice a difference from the SSD to the ICON or the Q. Get the SSD. I have played with all 3 subs before.
To tell you the truth, you could stick with the SA sub and rebuild the box for smoother sound.
I havent built the box yet.
And i have SA-12s and i wanna try a 15 out so i might as well explore other brands outside of sundown. The sound is smooth right now and to my liking, again i dont have a shit setup right now or anything, just wanting to change it up a bit, build a new box, and explore other subs in the world of car audio.

Fi builds SSA woofers. They are both great American companies. If the budget is your most important factor go with the SSD. You won't be disappointed and probably wouldn't notice a difference in SQ terms.
Thanks man for the help, and everyone else lol. I think I AM A go for the SSD and just go all out on the box and make up for SQ that way.

If you are truly looking for a SQ sub the Icon would be a better pick over the SSD. Fi's SQ woofer is the Q.
I'm aware that SQ would improve with the ICON over the SSD, but the dilemma is whether or not it is THAT much of a difference to spend the extra money for that quality. Like would the difference in sound quality of the subs be so noticeable that spending the extra money is a must?
And any idea on what a ICON 15" runs for price wise?

Whats the best way to cut a 14in diameter hole in plexiglass?
Also, cut a 5in diameter hole in fiberglass?
Thanks.
