  1. Yeah...ive had the car for a little over a month now and always told myself I'd get an alarm system in it but focused more on the car audio part lol. Now i definitely need it, can't trust anyone nowadays.
  2. My dad used to have a prestige alarm system in his bagged s10 when we lived in Rhode Island. He had it super sensitive. Just walking by quickly/loudly next to the truck the alarm would set off lol
  3. Update: sorry no pics yet lol. Didn't get much done but tomorrow I'm spending the day working on my speakers The earthquake 6.5s will NOT fit in the stock door speaker enclosure... I should've measured but didn't the speaker has too much depth. The magnet fits flush in, but the speaker sticks out like a mofo! Here are my two options: Cut the hole deeper (which would include cutting metal, nay.) Or Have them stick out but build a custom metal speaker grille/cage They honestly don't look bad sticking out in my opinion its just the worries that Someones foot will accidentally hit them. What do you guys think I should do? I'd rather not cut my door frame metal (don't even know what to use exactly) but a flush fit would be rewarding A custom speaker grille/cage would look badass in my opinion lol. As for the supertweeters I haven't moved them yet. They sound good where they are for now.. I might move them tomorrow and try to hear a difference
  4. Thanks for input everyone. Yes I'm set on buying the compustar alarm system I stated earlier. I just need to make more money lol. The alarm etc in Lakeland is very good. They do excellent installs at a ok price. Customer service is what they excel in, IMO. But I suppose some of you will agree with me that a good alarm system is a must in car audio!
  5. what alarm systems do you guys have?
  6. my friend has a compustar alarm system in his tahoe, i dont remember which one exactly, but the alarm would always go off randomly after he presses the lock key on his keychain Just sounds like he needs to adjust the sensitivity... at the most sensitive settings I've seen the wind set mine off. Other than that my "random" alarms were just my father or friends screwing with me. wow the wind set your alarm off? thats someee sensitivity lol. i do like the compustar one.. i think im set! Ok wait are you laughing at the professionally installed part? lol You got it. lol they are pretty legit though! alarms etc. < their store is called ALARMS etc.
  7. my friend has a compustar alarm system in his tahoe, i dont remember which one exactly, but the alarm would always go off randomly after he presses the lock key on his keychain
  8. Ok wait are you laughing at the professionally installed part? lol
  9. http://www.sonicelectronix.com/item_12192_Viper-1002-P-N-3102V.html http://www.sonicelectronix.com/item_30085_Compustar-2W900FM-AS.html i'm stuck between these two. id have to take it to my local shop because im not confident in my installation skills. they'll probably charge $40-$60 but at least i know its professionally installed.
  10. i do plan on having some nice stuff.. is viper overrated? some friends tell me my money is better elsewhere and some friends say they work great.. i think today im buying an alarm system.. i was going to get my car tinted but i can cancel that for now lol
  11. are $$100-150 alarm systems good enough? should i get a $200 alarm system? i mean i believe in you get what you paid for but $100 is good money..
  12. thats how my civic is, but i even looked on youtube, there are tutorials on how to pick a lock, LORD JESUS??? a tutorial? REALLY??
  13. yeah well first my car, than uncles car. but we got both vehicles back.. one more year and im out of here! armyyyyy. true... it would be so they cant drive off. i want an alarm system but theres so many to choose from idk what to pick. people are so bad nowadays.. my neighborhood isnt even one of the really bad ones, i mean, its bad but not that bad. idk how people know i have bass i never play it in the neighborhood or at my house or anything, i always wait till im on the main road. someone had to have been watching me
  14. yeah man, he probably couldve gotten away with it since he was at a spot where noone could see him. my backyard is woods and everyone in the neighborhood keeps things to themselves.. although idk if a screwdriver can open my trunk.. awhile back when my maxima got stolen and i talked about it here someone recommended some type of on/off switch for the battery.. i want to know how i can do that?
  15. lol its actually quite comical.. its about 12:30pm and im walking to my garage for a workout (i have a separate garage from my house) and i walk past my car (1996 honda civic) and theres a guy trying to pick the lock on my trunk. i looked at him and screamed "HEYY WHAT ARE YOU DOING" he jumps up and dropped the screwdriver (which is mineee) and stares at me shocked and says "is this car not for sale?" i gave him the shitiest stare ever and said "NOO?" it was like a 3 second pause and he just starts running off. fast little fucker too lol. i didnt bother calling the police because shit like this happens in my neighborhood all the time, and i have no idea who he was.. but this was a sign that i need an alarm system in my car, fast. any ideas, suggestions, comments?
  16. awesome work man. great pics. loved the "band-aid"
  17. at the moment, i didnt want to not have supertweeters. i wanted supertweeters so bad. the component set wasnt a great one either, i EQ the set in every way to hear a difference, imo it didnt.. i dont like component sets (or at least the kicker one) so im trying to have separate sets for mids and highs and see what i can go from there. although im doing alot of research right now on how i can do this lol.
  18. very truee. around 2-3pm (its currently 12:10pm) ill be working on my car with a friend. im going to see where the supertweeters sound best in the front, most likely in my doors.. still bummed that i cut holes in the back, i may put like a picture frame with my family or something to cover the holes lol. so the plan so far is: supertweeters and midranges as front stage. midranges in the stock location of my doors, and probably modifications for the supertweeters in my doors next to the mids. thanks for the help. ill be updating soon with some pics!
  19. thats interesting man, alot of helpful info too. yes i like the idea of mids and highs in the front but im going to feel bad for nothing in the backseats lol. holy crap 14 coaxials?? lol .... i need something in the backseats too.
  20. i like your idea, i guess my train of thought is to have something in every area of the car, front, and back seats. these earthquakes are temp. i want sundown neo pro 6.5s both in front and back seat. so maybe the hole where the supertweeters are can be where the neopros can go., ...later on.. ill reposition the supertweeters in the front with the mids and see how things go, tomorrow. ill definitely update you guys before i cut more holes lol
  21. oh i mean the areas i relocated.. i didnt tape them to the doors or A pillars, but the spots where i wouldve done it, they sound the same. have you not tried separate highs and mids lol I like supertweeters and its cheaper to only have one set of supertweeters and mids. i guess a good idea is to have two sets of supertweeters and mids and another 4 channel amp. butttt
  22. Wait, where are your tweeters? errm, i drilled holes on the sides in my backseats. idk if you know the layout of a 96 civic but where you can put cups in or other things in, its right behind that lol i am embarrassed of my installation skills I promise i wont laugh lol But seriously if you want to get better then help us help you when i had the component set and seleniums highs overtook the mids so id hear mostly highs and lows lol. ill take pics tomorrow, its midnight yeah, the dealer at the store suckered me to get both mids and supertweeters, and i wouldnt want to mix brands really.. i really dont know, i thought supertweeters in the back would sound good, im just trying to get loud and enjoy my music lol. i already drilled holes so i dont think im moving the supertweeters i originally did that, i had them up near the back window, right behind the seats, beside the seats, front firing, rear firing, side firing. it all sounded the same to me, these things will be loud and high wherever in the car and imo sounded the same in all areas i attempted to put them. i picked the spot that i picked because it was reasonably easy to install there. do you guys recommend i put the supertweeters in the front and mids in the back?
  23. well, at first, i was thinking bass in trunk and mids up front, in the middle some highs would sound good to balance the sound out
