  4. So the weekend did not go as planned. I have been workin' so much lately but had Sunday already open for the MR2 Meetup. I started washing, and the detailing process in the morning. I was way too optimistic. I figured in a couple hours I could have the ride looking descent enough. Well I tend to get really zoned in when I start a project. I was cleaning the car from the morning all the way up to 2pm(meet was 10-3pm). Then I realized what time it was and jumped in the shower and raced over. I got there with 10 minutes left. Uhhh...man...wow really. Yup...basically missed the whole thing. I did however get to meet a couple people. I met guy from Dealer who I've bought parts, and also the guy puttin' on the Meetup. He was really nice...he ended up talking to me for two hours past the meetup. So it wasn't a total loss. As far as photos. I got there so late and I was trying to meet people but most were already leaving. They had a bunch of prizes and giveaways...I missed them all. I was totally exhausted and didn't eat since breakfast. My girl and I ended up getting some food and I had 0 energy to do anything. So I was thinking since the car was looking not perfect but really, really way better. I only was able to get two stages of the detail done. It has some shine but not there yet. Still descent enough for pics. I was planning on getting some HQ shots tomorrow. Two problems...one it just started raining here in the NW. First time in quite some time. The other...this is a real bummer. My bro had an accident. He bump a big 8' light and it fell on my car..! It didn't really do much damage to the hood but it did dent my fender and chipped the paint down to metal. I don't know what's up now. He said he'd help me fix it...but I know he's short on $. I figure I'll just touch up the paint and let it be till I can afford either some paint or a total paint job. Oh well I know he didn't mean to...it happens...but it's a bummer... That's the update guys. Probably not what you expected. I certainly hoped things would have turned out different. The paint is way, way better than it was. I could probably spend another 5+ hours but it's respectable now. I'll either just take some pics in the next few days or I'll wait till the weekend so I can make time to do a proper detail. All 5 stages. I clay barred it, and hit it with Stage one cleaner. 4 more to go...and really I still need to hit it with some more cleaner before moving onto the next stage. I'm not really a detailer. I do it all by hand. Since I don't have experience with a professional buffing machine(even thought we have one now). I need to practice on something I don't care if I mess up. So till then it's all by hand and it takes forever lol...but it will look nice when I finally complete the detail. It's so crazy how much better just the cleaner did for it. Ok guys...sorry no new pics or better updates/news. MR2
  5. Yes definitely been hit with some challenges...but I keep moving forward so that is good. I still have an issue what my backup camera freezing the image. Not sure if it's the HU or the camera...?! Thanks for checkin' out my build...! MR2
  6. It was a heater hose. It was another expensive fix(like $100 part-but luckily there was an aftermarket alternative for way less). So now it's replaced and has been holding up for a couple of days now. I'm just super slammed helpin' my pops at the moment with a remodel. So he helped me a bunch...now I'm helping him a bunch. It's a real relief it wasn't anything major...! There is a Portland MR2 meetup I'm planning on going to this weekend. So if everything goes well and no more breakdowns I'll be there. I hope to have it clean and detailed this week too so I can l take those pics I've been wanting to take. I got a lil' bummed with all the issues I was having...but things seem ok now. Thanks for checking in on me..! MR2 Good to hear you got it straightened out. Also great you are returning the favor helping out POPs! Have fun at the show this weekend, I'll be looking out for the pics! Yes I'll be taking pics at meetup and I hope to have those HQ pics taken before I roll out this weekend when it's all nice and clean..! Ya I've been helpin' my pops and he's helped me all my life. It's just how we do it...we family..! I think that's the kind of thing you do...or should do with your fam...support them in their interest..! So...is there any kind of SSA meetup somewhere ever...I think that would be cool...?! MR2
  7. Right on...ya it fits so nicely under the Frunk. It's like the perfect size for this installation..! The ZED Logo lights up the whole frunk at night time which is pretty cool too..! It's like opening up some kind of wonder like in 'Pulp Fiction' with the suitcase...lol..! Appreciate the comment and you checking out my build..! MR2
  8. Sorry for late replies y'all...just got a bit bummed with all the issues...didn't even log in for a few days..! Buuut...things are getting better...oh and my Nav wasn't working...it's working now outta the blue...still need to figure out why the backup camera is getting stuck on the same image. Then I unplug and replug in the power and it seems to work for awhile. Not sure if it's the camera or the HU causing the issue. Tried to look up Clarion tech...couldn't seem to find any email or tele. A quick google search did not bring up the same issue. I did hook the power off the stock hardness/adapter since I ran a dedicated line to the battery for the HU so it was available and an easy hookup. Maybe that was a bad idea and is causing the image to freeze since it appears to have constant power. The IR glow at night or whenever its in a dark environment. Anyway...it's one of the few lil' bugs I've been working out of the system...I'll probably disconnect it from that lead and hook up to the switched power feed. Anyways guys...all the great comments and feedback keeps me going...this is my first car I've started from a blown engine. It's added a lot more work to the whole project...but it'll be worth it in the long run I think...?! MR2
  9. I appreciate that feedback..! I bought them used off ebay and they had some parts missing and what not...but we managed to get them installed better than the previous owner had. I personally really like the new look..! I think the flush center piece is a better look too over the recessed look... MR2

  11. Yes I hope so too...! My mechanic had to replace some hose or hoses...not sure which ones he did. He said he'd come by sometime today to take a look at it. Lets hope its just a simple fix and not anything major...I can't afford anything major. I've dumped a lot into the ride already..! The next major update is paint...rather be spending $ on paint than more engine work...but gots to do what I gots to do ya know...! =( MR2
  12. Thanks for the encouragement guys...makes me feel better. I also have an issue with the rear camera. It freezes the image on the HU. Not sure if it's the HU having the issue or the camera. Anyway...the least of my worries. Last time that happened I pulled the whole rear end apart unplugged and replugged everything, turned it back on...and everything worked fine. Ok quick fix...but then it came back up with same issue. So I maybe shopping for a new rear camera too soon..! =( Again thanks a lot for the kind words y'all...! MR2
  13. Sorry for delay man...read my recent post whats going on... MR2
  14. Sorry guys for not posting any new pics. I got busy with some work I had to do and I didn't want to take just some ok pics. The car needs a desperate detail job end to end...and just now I run into more troubles with the car...I'm a bit bummed at the moment...! Last week my shift cable had to break just as I was getting on the on ramp to get onto freeway(not a great place to break down). Luckily my pops comes to the rescue..! So after spending a couple days on the phone to find part(s)I managed to find the parts an hour away used(SWEET since the dealer said the part was actually replaced with a new one that cost not $200 but $300+before shipping-I got the used one for about half $200 if you include my gas). I Install it, everything seems cool. Fairly easy fix...just a lil' time consuming is all. So anyway my ride has been parked all day in the driveway and most of the weekend since I've been busy with work. Tonight I pulled it in and just have a funny feeling. I look under my car...Huge puddle of something...?! Turns out it's green(coolant)... Not good, not good at all..! Not sure what to think...but I'm bummed...again sorry guys...didn't mean to leave y'all hangin'..! =( MR2 ps: believe me...I want to detail the ride really bad and take some nice pics! It's going to take a whole day at least reviving the paint, cleaning out the small areas around trim, and so on. This car was sitting with a blown engine for some time outside. Paint is oxidized really bad...so this is not going to be a quick fix. This is why no new pics...I want to take some nice shots outside the car as well as inside of the install(it also needs a detail inside...very dusty and in need of serious TLC...but now my worry is whats wrong with the car...! Dayum..! I'm going to go put a bunch of kitty liter on the floor to soak up the liquids...! =(
  15. All these promises of HQ photos better be worth it.. or else Well let's hope so huh...! MR2
  16. Got part...installed it last night...! Car is runnnin' again..!!! Also had something strange go on with the rear camera. I tore it apart inspected, put it back together...it also works now..! So sometime this week I'll wash, wax, and take some nice HQ photos..! Stay tuned... MR2
  17. I found the parts used local...! Before I found the part I called the dealer...when I gave them my VIN the part was actually even more money...it's was around $300...so I'm very happy I found one used for way less...very lucky..!!! So if all goes well I should have my car back together very soon..!!! MR2
  18. Yes when the blackout lights are done well or bought that way they look really clean...unfortunately the tails were getting really old, faded, and started to crack. I didn't even want to restore them. I decided to just do the conversion. I like the clean look better...and I don't like to give the patrollers any reasons to pull me over. Thanks for the feedback..! MR2
  19. Cool...glad you like it..! MR2
  20. Man I sure hope so...I'm going to make a few more calls...if no luck then it's the Dealer... MR2
  21. It was a lil' tricky...but my Pops and made it happen..! Thx..! MR2
  22. Kouki Tail Light Conversion | Before and After - 1991 Toyota MR2 | Plus custom backup camera under emblem...! MR2
  23. Oh...I didn't mention...the part is shy $200 bucks with shipping...ouch..! That is why I spent quit a bit of time on the phone today trying to find one local or used...! MR2
  24. ...! I do too...most come from Cali...so it may take a few days to get..! I tried to locate a part locally with no luck..! =( It was looking and soundin' really good before that point..! Ok it still looks and sounds good...it just won't go anywhere...lol..! MR2
  25. Sorry no new updates or pics guys...some bad news...I worked all weekend on the build. I got it 100% done Sunday. Was washing the ride at midnight...pulled it in the garage and called it a night. Then today went to get some gas and on the way back shifted from 4th to 5th and it wouldn't...luckily my pops came to rescue me and was able to drive it home in 4th all the way catching every light barely and flying into the garage sideways. He just made it. Anyway...spent most of the day trying to find parts. My shift cable broke. So my car is all torn apart again. Hopefully we can locate one tomorrow. Almost everything for this car has to be shipped in. =( So now the ride is down for awhile...but at least it's in the garage..! Man everything came together sooo sweet too..! The tail light conversion and backup camera came out good too...! So ya a bit bummed...I should have an update and I'll take some nice HQ pics sometime this week... Thanks for your patience guys and + feedback...I have to keep reminding myself this is a 20 year old car and I bought it from a young kid who obviously let the car go...so I'm having to do a lot of TLC to get it in good shape again. At least it is really straight. I eventually need some paint on the bumpers...or I'll just wait and do a full paint job. Ok then...hope all is well with everyone... We'll talk with ya'll later...!
