Midbass -----Metal
It feels good that once in a while people like my suggestions.

Nope, actually the L3 is smaller and if I remember correctly has better off-axis response. Either choice would work great. I would go L4 if you were putting it in kicks, or L3 if you were going to mold them into your a-pillars for example.

don't forget if SSA gets 10 members in the group sale, that could be 25% off. It's currently at 10% off all sales, just remember to mention SSA during the checkout.

600 is per pair, I'm guessing that you are currently looking at the L8 speakers.

Flatwind
Incorrect. It simply makes the woofer more prone to peaking. IE in a ported application, you would need a slightly lower tune to remove the peakiness of the flatwind option sub. The flatwind sub will however (due to being more peaky) show more gains due to a "higher" tuned set-up.

I think hybrid audio's website has the link for an online retailer.

The hybrid audio is probably the more expensive option I listed, but there isn't anything that will touch it that won't cost you as much as a new car.

Welcome to the IHoP
Finally found and uploaded a picture of Kristen Frederick's camaro before the 18" IB install (2 18d's iirc) http://www.soundsolutionsaudio.com/forum/i...si&img=3258

sound relativity to speed and pressure
IIRC we have already discussed this before. The rate of acceleration needed to get a subwoofer cone to move to 720mph, stop and return etc. Is impossible.

This whole home audio thing is throwing me for a loop. I take it pre-amps are like line drivers (except for making the signal more level from a table). Right now my equipment list looks like a dcx-2496 and I'm reading about amps as much as possible. Any good place to look for amps. I need something like a 120x4 @4 ohm amp and a 15x2 watt @ 8 ohm amp. I will most likely be grabbing an ep2500 for a pair of subs as well. Why does it have to be so confusing.

My suggestions are l8,l4,l1 combo. DIY or Morel Elate 9 way's (8.75" mid though.) Both are in the same ball park for pricing. The morel does come with un-needed crossovers though.

12" Sub geared more for output
If you end up wanting one sd1-12, I'll sell you mine at no profit. I really have no plans for it, I bought it b/c the price was right.

Audison Or Focal
i also suggest going sundown and spending more money/time on install.

Audison Or Focal
And I know that Focal Amps had a few run in's (ie. blown amps) when they first came out. I can't remember exactly who makes focal amps but I'm pretty sure they are oem'd for focal (ie another company designs them).

ixl 15
The HDC315 is built for power... The ixl is most likely more efficient, and definitly will be more musical.

I'm probably going to be building these as well.

There is still a tiny market for hi power SPL 10's, but the hard thing for us is we are too small to really do any specialty stuff yet. But I would be very interested in what you have in mind. As there is a possibility to do a 10" version of those 18" prototypes in the SSA section, they would be totally useless for daily to do basket and suspension limitations. My basket design was made to use an 11.1" single slug motor on a 10" subwoofer. It would have had to have been inversely mounted or mounted from the inside of the box. Traditionaly 12 spokes aren't known for their xmax clearances either. In either regard, someone should really come out with a tall basket design for a 10" woofer for extra x-max clearances. I have a few sketches (not an artist by any means.) My basket idea, while not original was a 4 spoke, much like on the ixl's, it allowed for a much larger xmax while sacrificing mounting depth (meaning it was a rather tall sub).

Box design verification
Looks good to me.

Dual 1's aren't dual 1's
Dual 1 coils should read .6-.8 normally. You won't notice a difference when there is power applied.

I think I just made my first really brash post in over a year.
